I wish Sel De Mer lived up to my expectations. This place is adorable– homey and sweet, but not claustrophobic. The brunch selection had a great mix of specials and variations on

My meal here was Amazing! Salmon with Asparagus risotto was literally the best. This place is perfect! Service is fast and servers are super friendly. Great ambiance, very good wine list and the portion sizes are generous. Great place for a date! Must visit!!!

Helllllo 2 for 1 mimosas! This is seriously my favorite brunch spot. Great vibes and awesome staff, not to mention that the food is amazing. You may have to wait a minute to get a table, but trust me it’s worth it.

the wait for a table was about 15 – 20 minutes for brunch on a sunday, and the food was well worth the wait. mimosas and bellinis are standard: if i came back, which i probably will, i’d get the blood mary, which is decorated with a fat cocktail shrimp over the rim of the mason jar. they have a 2-drink deal that’s pretty cheap($ 7 – 8 i believe). for the appetizers, the crab bisque was pretty good, but nothing amazing. it resembled tomato soup too much. yes, sel de mer is about a seafood brunch, but i’d highly recommend the pancake breakfast. it’s a single, thick buttermilk pancake(about 2″-3″ thick), topped with scrambled eggs and bacon, with whipped cream and syrup on the side. the pancake isn’t one of those trashy diner pancakes — it has a dense, almost bread-like texture, and has a good balance of sweetness. sweet without syrup and not too sweet with syrup. downside: this is a busy place, and the service was horribly slow. but they apologetically comped almost everything from our bill before i complained, so we ended up paying in the single digits for a $ 40-some brunch. sel de mer if you’re reading this, you can take 1hr to serve me any day.

Brunch review: So delicious! Such a cute space! Great options for all dietary needs. We however had the worst service! 20 minutes to get the first round of drinks, okay they were busy. Then didn’t see the server for another 20 minutes, damn it would someone take our dang order! Then another 20 minutes and we still have empty drinks. Some of the food came out, but it was cold so my friend couldn’t eat it. She sent it back, but after waiting 20 minutes we still didn’t have our second round of drinks or her food. By that point we had been there for over 2 hours, so we just had to tap out. I stil give 3 stars, because it seemed to be an anomaly. Everyone I was with had been there before and said it wasn’t ever like that. It seemed that they were short staffed so I don’t want to punish them for that. It could have easily been a 5 star review because the food that we did get was really good. I will go again, but I will be sure that I am not on a time schedule or starving just as preparation.

Sel de Mer is cute, cozy, and a nice local spot. The menu isn’t too extensive and it doesn’t really change which is the main bummer. But so far everything I’ve ordered has always been good. So far that’s been the tuna burger and the eggs hollandaise. Both tasty. However the lack of variety prevents me from wanting to come here on the regs. Come on mix it up Sel de Mer! P. S. They also have a weird A/C situation in which the water drips on you if you’re sitting at he bar. Thankfully we were with someone who was 6’3 so we just made him get up every 20 min and wipe the water from the giant silver A/C unit.

I was really debating on giving this place 3 stars, but after letting it all sink in it’s definitely closer to 4. The atmosphere is rustic seaport with that classic BK hipster aura. The staff was VERY cold — I’m a big believer in friendly service so that was a down grade right away. We ordered a dozen oysters to start and they were FANTASTIC. They came with this watermelon vinaigrette which was such a great taste compliment. For my meal I ordered the Salmon which had kale, mashed potatoes and this delicious mustard sauce. Amazing except that the fish was a little too well done. Overall I liked this place despite my two gripes. I would come back here.

What a find! I walked in to find an *empty* restaurant. They had happy hour: $ 1 oysters, half price on all glasses of beer and wine! The special was crispy skate wing! Over faro! I was very happy with this. Salted chocolate ganache for lunch. It’s a medium sized place with decent atmosphere and very friendly staff. I am coming back!

Positives: Super cute décor, phenomenal bread and butter, really really good burgers. Awesome brunch place. Cons: I had pretty bad mussels. No alcohol just wine+beer(though a really good selection) The menu doesn’t seem to change so it gets a little boring.

I wouldn’t get the Lobster– it was a bit on the hard to chew side. The Steak was very good. It’s pretty loud in there the place is packed on a Friday night and its small so that explains why its soo loud.

Such a cute and unique place to have an early dinner. I can’t even describe the decorations and setup; its very random and engaging at the same time. I had the oysters, 3 west coast and 3 east coast, all $ 2 each, all were clean and fresh. They are placed on a small dish on top of arugula and paired with tomatoes in a red vinaigrette. Such unique flavors! Then I had the whole roasted trout and boy had the sel de mer burger. The trout was delicious and perfect! It’s a whole trout with lots of flavor on its own or with the light sauce that it sits ontop of. Boy devoured the burger and left me with the yummy fries. Great place to eat at!

I’m sad to leave the neighborhood because I won’t have a good oyster place anymore. I love love love sitting at the bar here, drinking a few beers and enjoying the daily oyster selection. Happy hour oysters $ 2(thought they were $ 1 but realized yesterday they were $ 2). Always have a west coast option which is a plus for me! They place the oysters and ice over arugula which to me is a terrible waste of arugula, so I end up eating it with the vinegar sauce provided with oysters since I prefer mine naked. Their bread is also oddly delicious, especially with the sea salt on butter. I don’t know why, it’s my favorite bread. Usually I just have oysters, but yesterday I had dinner also. Great kale salad with prosciutto, fish and chips were ok. The batter was too thick for me personally. Service is really friendly, never really have to wait too long, best neighborhood oyster joint. P. S. They’re very kid friendly. The last two times I’ve been, they’re so accommodating to couples with babies. Also, on Halloween I sat at the bar and helped them give out candy to the kids who came in trick-or-treating. I think I got fired once I denied a grown boy who came in with a black tshirt. Lame.

It’s been a while since I’ve ate here, but I’m glad its still awesome. Came here last night at about 7:30pm to find a few tables still available. It does tend to get busy, so coming early is a good plan if you want to enjoy some deliciously fresh seafood. We ordered a couple of beers and two entrees. I went with the fried shrimp basket, which I’ve never tried here before. I usually get the crab cake sliders(which was outstanding), but figured it was time to try something new. I’m glad I did since the shrimp were amazing. The dish came with 6 giant deep fried shrimp. They were seriously the biggest friend shrimp I’ve ever seen. I think the batter was cornmeal, so it was really crisp and tasty. It went perfectly with the tarter sauce, which had a bit of spice to it. The fries are delicious and even the little side of cole slaw was awesome. YUM! My fiancé went with the wild striped bass special, which came with snap peas, green beans and micro greens served with a mascarpone sauce. The filet was perfectly cooked and utterly succulent. It was a nice sized piece of fish for the $ 22 price tag. I would guess it was about 6 oz. I couldn’t eat the sauce due to a cheese allergy, but he said it was phenomenal and tied in all the elements of the dish together nicely. I feel like every time I come here, the food is fresh and flavorful and worth every penny. Looking forward to coming back!

1.5 stars. Where was the flatbread? Where was the $ 18 – 20 lobster? Where was the«romantic» /date atmosphere? OMG, Unilocalers, u really threw me off this time. The bread was old n dry, the lobster was $ 28 and the place was overcrowded, cramped n loud! We ordered the crabcakes(tasty) and the tuna fish burger(ok burger, but the fries were soft n super-salty). There was a wait outside, but we still don’t get why. The place n food are merely average, and the prices are outrageous: $ 14 for a burger, $ 18 for the tuna fish burger, $ 10−15plus for appetizers. Manhattan-like prices for much less n much further away. Plus, rushed service: they couldn’t wait to get us out. 80s music w low-quality sound. They didn’t even have a business card.

Great place for everyday dining. Ate here last night. Was exactly what I was looking for. Good food, simple, nice setting, low price. You’ll leave happy for sure. Actually many couples come here to eat. Not a bad place for a simple date, or some food with a friend. The art on the walls is fun and cheeky. Lot’s of sea captains and such, but it works :)

What a lovely little spot for a drizzly Sunday brunch in early April. We grabbed a few tables for our big Memphis/Atlanta crew to squeeze into and checked out the menu. The complimentary bread was delightfully fresh and the preserves that came with it were delicious. Everyone was also in love with the accompanying salty butter, so take their word for it. I ordered the vegan curried tofu scramble on English muffins with a lovely little salad and breakfast potatoes. I didn’t know how I would feel about curried tofu and veggies on an English muffin but it proved to be beyond tasty. I’m going to try to recreate this at home or shake down the chef for the recipe. The presentation of everyone’s food was lovely– down to the devilled eggs and their pretty purple hue, and the fruit plate with everything cut and arranged in a different way than I had expected. I’d definitely recommend this place for brunch, and the guys that run the place are pretty cute too.

It’s a great fish place in the immediate neighborhood. I went with my boyfriend… it’s like 2 blocks away and we had yet to go. We got: Whole Grilled Branzino($ 18) it was great. It was delicious! It’s definitely worth checking out. They also have $ 1 oyster happy hour M-F 4−7p. Really, how do you say no to $ 1 oysters?
