Had a returns dispute last fall,(undisclosed, punitive) but got a $ 127 store credit. Tried to use it today(great spring merchandise) but was told I «wasn’t allowed» in the store/So how do I use th store credit. Small claims court to follow., I guess Silly customer service, self destructive. I’m not the first the the neighborhood with these issues.

As a personal shopper, it’s an integral part of my job to seek out the best of the best for my clients. I had high expectations based on other Unilocal reviews for this shop but I was let down. Presentation is everything. I’m not hard to please, but when you’re selling dresses, when you’re selling anything for that matter, it’s unacceptable to neglect the basic cleanliness of the store which you are selling from. The floors and rugs were horribly dirty. The walls were dirty. The chairs had crumbs on them. Worst of all some of the clothing was dusty. I lacked confidence in the overall care of the clothing.:( I did appreciate the support to local and international designers being carried here. Individually(if cleaned), some of the pieces were very beautiful and unique.

Strumpet is such an awesome store run by an amazing young woman. Glynnis seeks out fashion designers from Queens, NY to Reykjavik, Iceland and really takes the effort to find cool, good quality clothing/accessories designed by local and international designers. I purchased a white leather clutch with hand painted blue flowers that was designed and MADE locally here in NYC. In my box, she even sent me a hand written thank you postcard explaining that the artist of the clutch was a Queens native! On another occasion, I purchased a gorgeous red dress(conservative but fun and girly) to wear to a Meet-The-Parents occasion(I believe the designer was British?). Strumpet is a treasure trove of cool dresses that take a spin the the vintage-meets-modern look and the owner is very knowledgeable about the source that the clothes come from. As a native New Yorker with a bunch of international friends, it’s really quite hard to find a cool gift for a friend that’s «Made in USA» let alone«Made in NYC,»(cuz, ya know, most things are manufactured in China nowadays). Strumpet is a great store that showcases and sells the designs of local NYC artists as well as designers from abroad who are equally as cool(«Hey you like my dress? Thanks! It’s from Iceland!»). There are regular/seasonal promotional sales like any other store and I’ve never had a hassle with one of my orders(I received a handwritten thank you card, for Christ’s sake!). The people are really nice and informative and really care about helping you find a piece of clothing /accessory that you enjoy– not because they want your moneyz, but because they really do want to help you discover and be surprised by the awesome designers and designs. I support people who support local artists and communities. AND they’re genuinely good people too? Oh heck yea. If at the end of your visit, you don’t buy anything, at least you know what a hand sewn dress from Canada looks like :)

Strumpet is a lovely addition to the neighborhood. Great little shop with great designer clothes. I passed by it once with a friend and we had a delightful experience: the staff is helpful and friendly and the owner speaks both English and French, which is a huge plus in this French neighborhood!

A lovely place run by a lovely person. Strumpet is a women’s vintage clothing store that also supports local designer’s. They have a wide range of selection here and are always ready to hear any feed back. I, being the scarf hoarder that I am, am INLOVE with the patterns that you can find here. A shop that brings the word«quirky» to mind but please. this shop is much more than that. Will def be back next time I find myself in NYC.
