Maybe I just don’t like ceviche as much as the next person but I wanted to try it! I ordered 3 ceviche: atuna blanco + ceviche de pulpo + ceviche mixto. I liked the ceviche mixto the best but even after all 3 ceviche I still felt pretty hungry. This place is also a little pricey so I didn’t order anymore food.

FYI — this location no longer has the menu as advertised(now that menu has migrated to their 3rd Ave location) BUT they do have 3 tacos for an absurdly cheap price during dinner and it is LIT.

Really great food. I really like their steak entrees and they had great sides too. Grilled prawns were really good as well as their ceviche. The paella was different but good. I still prefer traditional paella over the black squid ink one. Chicken was tender.

I came in here the other night hoping to get some delicious ceviche, unfortunately they changed the menu at this location. It only serves rotisserie chicken and sandwiches, none of the seafood dishes that I really enjoy from Surfish Bistro. They told me they opened up another restaurant somewhere in the teen streets. I was already meeting a friend in this area so we just walked to another restaurant close by.

They were getting ready to move to a larger location. Thankfully that didn’t impact the quality of the food. It was delicious. The service was great and the attention well appreciated. Only one of us could drink as the other party member was pregnant.

This is my second time to be here and they never fail to delight my palate. It was a last minute dinner decision to go for a Peruvian food and when I call them for a reservation, the staff on the other line initially told me that there is no available table on my preferred time(pushing my luck on a busy Saturday night). She suggested instead a time for us to drop by and by the time we got here our table was indeed available. Having an available table for a group of five on a busy Saturday night in a not-too-big place and serving us great food(Steak lover in here!) that makes me happy! Nice and friendly staffs, good ambiance, reasonably-priced great food and great service… that’s a five star for me.

Made the trek to Brooklyn to try some Peruvian food. The restaurant is pretty small, but accommodating for medium sized parties. We came here on a Friday night and there was no wait! We started off the night with ceviche and corn. I don’t even care much for corn, but I really enjoyed it. It was cooked very well and the sauce had a nice kick to it. I ordered the entrana tacu tacu for my entrée. The rice had too many beans and felt very thick and overwhelming, but the skirt steak was great. It was marinated beautifully and cooked very nicely. I enjoyed the side of plantains as well. For dessert, we got the flan. It was too sweet and I would suggest going elsewhere to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Everything I ate here was on point. The avocado tuna ceviche had amazingggg flavor. No complaints with any of the other dishes. Would definitely come back.

Located at the nexus of the universe(the corner of 5th&5th*), Surfish has established itself as a Peruvian staple of the Slope. They clearly take great pride in presentation, as nearly every dish(from the plantain chips they start you with to the desserts) is worthy of a photograph. In my experience, the ceviche tends to be where the bold flavors match the visual appeal on the plate. The pineapple tuna in particular is worthy of a repeat order every time. The oysters were also excellent(and gorgeous), but a much smaller portion at a similar price point, if such things matter to you. They matter to me, because I am a poor glutton. The excellent ceviches aside, I haven’t found the mains or the tapas to be as appealing. Nothing is bad, but nothing lived up to the ceviche. I’ve only tried a few, to be sure, but I think I’ll just stick to my pineapple tuna, a Cusqueña(a Peruvian lager) or three, and a side of maduros. Those have never let me down. _____________ *How can the same street intersect with itself?
