Came here for brunch was pleasantly surprised, the baked eggs with Canadian bacon were awesome, my friend had spaghetti carbonara with an egg was also very good, had a mimosa a perfect brunch match, Would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be back. Adrian our server rocks.

After a decade of slinging libations its difficult for me not to be cynical or hard on bars. I also find it difficult to try new places that don’t have someone I know working there. This bias is one I’m trying to break and it has posed a difficult task when all the great spots vanish over the years while troves of half baked themed ideas are prematurely birthed all over. Tandem was not something I was looking forward to, and I must admit from the website and bio it sounded like the last place Id want to be stuck. But when you working or chillin’ late the previous night the only true cure is grub and hair of the dog… enter your best friend Brunch. Honestly if more great Diners offered booze, I wouldn’t be trying Tandem’s Avocado sandwich with Marcona almonds with piquillo current pepper relish… seriously, Marco Piquillo what?! For real who comes up with this stuff? But alas it was Amazing! Luckily a better and more clear mind ordered for me. It is one of my favorite sandwiches as of late. So my bias was starting to partially lift, the $ 6 Tecate & Tequila shot was helping as well. I tend to be a liquid brunch’er if anything which brings me to the ‘crystal skull’ of this hidden B’wick bar. I rarely go to places just for the atmosphere or design(unless killer roof deck or patio) but go and return for the personality created by the staff, or in my case, the Bartender. So the reason I continue to return weekly is… Wait For IT… JANE. Jane, Jane, Jane. A wonderful no b.s. bad ass, attentive, funny, loud, crude and wonderfully sweet force behind the bar. Someone that will go toe to toe with you on drinks(not while she’s on the clock of corse) and stories. I haven’t had that much fun with a headache and laughed in a long time, the special and rare ‘Step Brothers’ moments… «Did we just become best friends?» So if your on your way to a flea market or some crappy 2 piece girl unicorn band in a defunct sweatshop, take a moment and pop in for cheese grits, biscuits, beers/shots and old school bar banter swag. p. s. the beet vodka bloody’s are mad good too.

For munchies dinner/lunch the mozzarella thing is HUGE. Get the poblano peppers and eat with the mac and cheese. Brunch wasn’t memorable though. The dj I saw played music too loud and it had no flow… weird. The bartender was… slow and really interested in setting up dirty aux cords then turning to touch people’s plates and cups *barf*. I asked her what the diff was between the red wines and she said«yeeeahhh they’re just you know… pretty basic… straight up red wines» hmmm ok hipster attitude present.

My friends and I were walking down Kickerbocker looking for a brunch place. Everything had a 30 minute wait, even the French place with a C rating. After a quick Unilocal search I found Tandem. We walked down an unassuming street and almost passed it. We were greeted by a great atmosphere, long wooden tables with individual French presses full of coffee on them. We ordered and were not disappointed. I will absolutely be returning here.

It’s a shame Tandem only has 3.5 stars overall. Going through reviews it seems the lower scores reflect problems with specific nightlife events, and that’s sad, because before y’all molly poppers get too twisted to enter and feel compelled to leave subpar views, Tandem’s first and above all a de-fucking-licious eatery. The cuisine’s top notch. The burger, the requisite-for-brooklyn kale salad, the brunch — spectacular. How does such big taste come outta that tiny kitchen? Who knows. Service here can be spotty, I admit. I’ve had good experiences and bad ones but never once have I let a less-than-exquisite customer servicer dampen my taste buds. Here, as the youngbloods might say, the food is absolutely on fleek. Fleekier than fleeky: it’s the fleekiest.

this place is mad cute and the food and drinks are pretty good. what i don’t get is, why only hire one waitress and one bartender? why? why? why? WHY? every time i talk to my friends about this place they always tell me how great the food is but how crummy the service is. step it up guys, or get stepped down by my stars ~~ sry

Dope spot to come at night to dance and chill. Normally have a line to get in during the weekend. The hamburgers here are delicious, although this is the only thing I have had the both times I ate here. Food is definitely worth checking out, and if you are in the mood to party with some hipsters then this is your place.

People are always raving about brunch. I am one of those people. But I am also very picky when it comes to brunch. My brother jokes that I won’t eat at the same brunch spot twice because there are tooo many places to brunch in NY. That is definitely not the case. If I find a brunch spot I love then I can’t keep my brunch heart away. What’s funny about Tandem is that I ended up falling head over heels for an item that is LUNCH and not even brunch. What happened to me? Well, when you combine 3 of my favorite food items into one sandwich, it’s the beginning of an obsession. Kale is a must in my book and Avocado is literally my favorite food in the world and if this wasn’t amazing as is… you then add a Marcona almond, piquillo pepper and currant relish. How can so many delicious ingredients exist in one sandwich?!? And if that wasn’t enough, you still get to pick two sides. Cannellini — they are alright Cream Biscuit — yes please! Ask for honey and butter. The honey is NY clover honey and is highly addictive. WARNING: No real jam – just grape jelly Cheese grits– alright. Could have been cheesier Patatas Bravas are really just home fries. I of course go for kale and biscuit. I know it’s a lot of carbs. Don’t judge me. And drinks — Aperol Spritz! Yessss! Another favorite! And the Bloody Mary’s are killer and a meal of their own with the amount of pickled vegetables. I love to sit at the bar. Jane is hilarious and doesn’t put up with any shit. It’s a great way to start a Saturday brunch! Be sure not too come too early or no booze for you. Also the bar has better seating then the weird chairs and table. I also want to say that I love the old space. Please make an effort to find this delicious spot. There should really be a sign with a huge arrow being like«Come here to start your food coma and buzz!».

Hmmm It was Sunday morning and I’m thinking BRUNCH! Quiet down, quiet down. 1. Had to wait for one table to be finished with their menus. But without warning or notice. Just waiting. 2. HMMM… hmm .hmm we were told that they can only start selling drinks after 12 on Sunday. O_o. 3. WTF. 4. The French Toast was delish. But a lot of sugar, so I couldn’t really finish it. No fault of theirs. 5. The waiter was kind. But that’s all. DEUCES. Won’t be back.

Strong brunch option near Bushwick. I had the chilaquiles which were awesome(and meat free), wife had the Eggs Purgatory, which were great, if a little heavy. Not crowded at noon on a Saturday. Will definitely be coming back.

Two dollar Rolling Rock, outstanding avocado and kale sandwich and amazing spaghetti carbonara make this a wonderful choice.

Great happy hour, great brunch, good bar food, fine atmosphere. I’ve enjoyed all the cocktails I’ve tried here, as well as the homemade mozzarella and mac and cheese. Boyfriend enjoys the burger and we both love the place for brunch — although it does fill up quickly on the weekends. Can’t beat their happy hour prices which are week long.

Food: always on point and when I’ve take friends there to try it they have agreed with me. Drinks: great prices what more can you really ask for now a days. Bartenders are super chill and cool. Space: when I’ve gone there’s been 90s hip hop music playing and I love it! At night the back space becomes a dance room with a DJ. It can get pretty packed at night so be ready! 3 bouncers and all are cool people. Dope place to go to if you want to just hang out, have a first date, or even go off on your own you’ll feel safe.

I visited my friend who lives in Brooklyn and he took us here. Amazing vibe and food. Everyone was silent after getting their food because we were so busy trying to get this stuff in our mouths. I got the quiche and was surprised it came with two sides all for ten bucks! Great portions but did not leave feeling overly stuffed and in need of a nap. You could tell the food was fresh. Tried my friend’s avocado sandwich, also delicious. My only complaint was seating was a little tight, but we did have a big party. The music was on point too. Definitely give it a try!

Shake your groove thing without all the annoyance that comes with going to a club. Dj’s were on point — electrofunk, 80’s pop, 90’s hip hop, and more, all well mashed up. Bar is ok. Nothing special, but cheap beers available, if that’s your thing. Really all about the great disco dance floor in the back.

Cute little dive off the beaten path. I would steer clear of the front area in the winter, though. It was frigid! I hear they have brunch, but we walked in at the tail end of service and just drank. Next time we’ll definitely hit up that room in the middle so we’re not stuck using our coats as blankets.

Really love having a neighborhood spot for a dance party. Probably wouldn’t go here for any other reason. Went on a Friday night. The DJ in the back room was kinda meh. Generic, bland dance/electronic music. I have no idea. Ended up dancing to the hip hop they were playing in the front by the bar. There’s also a room in the middle that has tables and is a bit more chill. I wish their website calendar was up-to-date so I could get a sense of the recurring DJ nights. Please do a soul/oldies night!

My review is mainly for the food. As a bar, I’m not even sure anymore — I’ve lived across the street since it opened and it’s been through so many transitions. At first I went there like it was my job(it really was the only decent bar in the hood) Then it got really popular, the place was a constant dance party with wall to wall people so I stopped going in much.(plus it made me feel old). It was like studio 54 in there. Now it’s kind of sad, there are so many new cool places in Bushwick that when I walk by at night there is no longer a crowd standing outside smoking, and often during the week there aren’t that many people inside. Hmm… maybe I should go there more often, its turning back into the bar I used to like. And the bartenders are all great. Anyhow, the food… I’ve only been to brunch a couple of times, but it’s decent. They have kind of a short menu, but they are probably limited by the tiny kitchen. The baked egg thing is really good. I wish they offered the burger at brunch… Which brings me to dinner. The burger is great! A little pricey, but that’s become the norm. I was pressured into eating the artichoke dip once and was amazed to find I loved it!!! Mac and cheese is decent. I could take or leave the meatballs. They used to have a pretty good reuben. I wish they would bring that back, along with the brick chicken. They have lots of healthy vegetarian options too, if you are into that. kale, quinoa and the like… overall, solid food option, but I wouldn’t go too far out of my way to eat here.(luckily I live stumbling distance away). And on quieter nights, it’s actually a great bar. It still holds a place in my heart.
