I am currently in the middle of a horrible experience with the Chair Factory. I ordered a slipcover for a sofa that I purchased at DWR several years ago(they do not carry this sofa any longer, otherwise I would have ordered it through them). After searching high and low for a vendor who would be able to order the replacement slipcover for me, I was glad the Chair Factory said they could help me out. I went to their small showroom and the sales staff was initially very helpful in getting me fabric samples to look at. I even corresponded directly with the owner of the company and he always responded very promptly so I felt comfortable purchasing from them even though I had never heard of them before. That was in January… it’s now May. I’ve paid over $ 500(deposit for half), I’ve tried emailing the salesperson I originally dealt with and the owner with no response back, and called their store several times trying to get an update on my order. When I do get someone on the phone, they cannot give me even a STATUS update, and always say they’ll call me back(but of course, never do). I understand that the slipcover is a special order, but I am starting to get VERY nervous because I have already paid several hundred dollars in a deposit and no one can tell me when my slipcover is going to arrive… or confirm whether the order was even placed with the manufacturer. I am considering seeking legal action, and at this point I would be happier just getting my money back(which I’m sure will be a struggle). In short… great customer service when they’re trying to sell something to you, but once they have your money, dont expect a satisfactory response.
