Came in late afternoon on a Sunday and sat at the bar with 3 friends. We did flights of beer which the bartender helped create. They were playing old movies and had a great vibe. Perfect chill area to try new beers and catch up with friends

Great local taproom. Friendly, helpful bartender. I had a couple IPA’s and a couple stouts by way of flight. Wasn’t big on the New Zealand hopped ale, but the stouts were both terrific.

I love this place, they always rotate the beers on draft and the staff is always great. Steve and Casey always are so helpful. It’s an oasis in Bushwick.

Best people, best beer. Despite the quality of the beer, which is high and controlled by uniformly off-site brewers, the main reason I come here repeatedly is because of the staff. I can get good beers anywhere these days, but the people here, Steve, Casey, Sierra… No impersonal, service-industry blandness or upselling nonsense, only real opinions and earnest help. Bushwick is risking being overrun by the real estate mentality of suburbia and many of the upstart establishments in the hood are ushering in the customer-is-always-right, spineless shoveling of predictable pap into any mouth that will have it. the Sampler is in the business of putting people in touch with the unknown. Not replicating generic swill from anywhere. It takes attitude and strong opinions to forge a new culture of creativity and the staff here is up to the task and for real! If you want a shot of Jameson, there are many indistinguishable sportsbar dangerholes you can get that from… Come here to safely expand your horizons and make some excellent friends in the process.

I came here with a friend on 2÷12÷16 and my friend asked for a beer suggestion from the bartender; the bartender(a late 30’s looking male with a super shitty attitude and a huge beer belly) responded with«do your eyes not work? There’s a beer menu on the wall.» We understood and read the menu just fine, but my friend was asking for a recommendation from the bartender since the staff should be knowledgable on the beers… Anyway; I promptly followed with my order of a Jameson and Water. The bartender then looked at me and said in a snarky manner«really? You come to a craft beer bar and order a whiskey?» I said; «sorry but that’s what sounds good to me, and you clearly have it for a reason.» The beer selection is nice, but so not worth dealing with such a rude, pretentious, douche-y bartender. I’d recommend taking your business elsewhere; this place isn’t special enough to deal with such crass attitude. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Come here for beer. –If you are a lover of beer. –If you are looking for the latest yummy local flavors. –If you just want to stop and get a glass of something delicious on the way home –If you’ve had a long, long work day This is the place for locals. But can also be the place for those looking to taste what’s new. I love crafty beers. I am especially a fan of the IPA’s. I used to hate IPA but now consider them the Gin of beers. Some people hate Gin but there are so many complex flavors and there’s an herbaceous taste that I find very appealing. I am one of those Gin Martini peeps. Back to beer… IPA’s also have those complex layers. And IPA are a plenty at The Sampler. There are some pricey IPA’s but here’s where sizing is helpful. Some beers you can sample as a 6 oz or commit to a 10 oz. I was in luck the other night and it was happy hour. I was able to get a 10oz beer for the price of a 6 oz. Awe yeah! You heard me right. Happy hour and it was ALLNIGHT! The local breweries are Other Half, Sixpoint and Singlecut to name a few. There’s also some new breweries to me, Two Roads from Connecticut and Finback and Bridge and Tunnel from Queens. It felt like an educational drinking experience. The Other Half — Kerstperiode” 10% was my favorite. I still need to do some more research I think. It was difficult to tear me away but at the same time we aren’t talking about PBR. These beers are S-T-R-O-N-G! The beauty too is that if the taps wasn’t enough you also have clear glass door fridges full of even more beers to pick from. You can also take growlers home of your favorite beers. And the snacks here range from grilled cheese, olives and chips. I want to check out the Monday trivia. Even though I think someone put a curse on my trivia game and ever since, then I have not been very good. I’m hoping that curse will be lifted soon. And maybe The Sampler will be the place. And I love the current beer art show and there is another art show coming soon. I’m a sucker for beer and art. So count me in.

There are so many awesome beer selections and the bartenders are great and super knowledgeable about each one. The prices are on par with craft beer prices and there is trivia on Wednesdays(I believe, you might want to check, I was drunk when I went).

Really great beer bar in Bushwick. My husband and I came in from out of town to sample some local beers. The beertender was super friendly and helpful. I had beer indecision as I often get. He made a suggestion or two to me and they were spot on! I would definitely come back if I was in the area.

Came here on a weekday around 5pm, just trying to kill some time. I was only expecting to stop in and see what selection they had but the owner wooed me in to try their beers. We sampled about 4 different types, he was very knowledgeable and attentive as he was trying to help me verbalize what types of beers I like to drink and what I should look for. We ended up sitting down to have a glass during their happy hour, which is a large pour for the price of a small. Draft selection rotates and there’s beers to buy by the bottle to either drink at the bar or at home.

I wish I could have reviewed the beer, but the service was so bad we didn’t stay. I came in to grab water, for our dog. We were planning to sit and grab drinks but the bartender at the time was so disgusted I asked for water he said. «This is a bar. We don’t have water.» I explained our pup needed the water on a hot day and he offered nothing. It seems to me that when your bar is empty and someone comes in who just needs water for a puppy the least you can do is be cordial if you’re going to say no. Disappointed is an understatement.

This place is awesome. We just moved to the neighborhood and walked over to get a growler to enjoy at home when to our surprise they were just about to start a free comedy show. So we stuck around for the show, has some beers and an overall great time, and the prices aren’t bad at all.

Great place for hang out and try out some new beer. For $ 9 you can get a flight of four beers. They have 20 on tap at any given time. If you can’t decide the bar tender will create a flight for you. You can bring food in, and they’re always playing the knicks games on saturday nights. Chill people, and good fun.

Great selection of craft beers with an even better staff to serve and educate you about them. If you like craft beer and are anywhere near bushwick then you should check this place out. You can drink a few there and take some bottles or growlers Togo.
