Seriously, I love this place. The drinks are always flowing. The staff is very friendly. The prices are extremely reasonable. You almost forget you’re in overpriced williamsburg… almost. The food is great! I really want to point this out. Because although this place has beer/shot specials, great frozen margaritas and the front gets packed with libation lovers on a regular basis, it considers itself a resturuant first, bar second. The result is fresh food, made the way you want it. If you love guacamole you need to be here. Spicy gauc ftw! Another cool thing about this restaurant/bar is that it sells local artists’ work on the wall. I like that sort of helping the people who help you out, mentality. My satisfaction with vera cruz is matched only by my selfish want to keep it to myself. 10 out of 10. Keep it going. Pro tip: Summertime drinks in their backyard area melts the day away. ~cheers

6÷8÷16 I wanted to start by saying I really really love this place as well as my son and everything has been great each time I’ve been at Vera Cruz recently I went with a few friends and it was not a good experience at all the food was good but the waiters weren’t pleasant at all number one they got two drinks wrong then they were upset when we informed them I got up twice to look for the waiters also two friends of mine ordered Jack and ginger-ale and it had no taste of alcohol my friend informed the waiter and they said they can’t do nothing about it, then when I asked the waiter for my check he gave it to me after½ hr of me asking him but the worse part was when he said to me and my friends here’s the check and I didn’t put the tip in the bill like that’s so horribly said a waiter should never even say that to any customer but I gotta say very disappointed at Vera Cruz I guess we shall see if I end up back at Vera Cruz or not … I hope no one goes thru the experience me and my friends went thru smh ”

I’ve been to few Mexican spots in Williamsburg and Vera Cruz has the best fish tacos of all. Service was great and Martin took very good care of us. Will be back. BTW, first ever review.

Love this spot ! Right on Bedford but it keeps the authentic Mexican feel. Margaritas are everything, I would suggest walking because one will be enough ! Also deff try their guacamole so creamy and delicious !

We had a delightful time tonight at Vera Cruz. We had the special — spicy strawberry Mezcal margarita — and quesadillas all around. The drink was incredible, and we even got a lesson on the production process of tequila versus Mezcal. Our server Martin was so accommodating and full of great recommendations. The quesadillas were literally the best we’ve ever had — cheesy, saucy, full of flavor and a side of crunchy, tasty salad. Will be craving this for weeks to come — if we can wait that long until the next visit.

A friend and I were venturing in the neighborhood and decided to check out this place to grab a drink and something quick to munch on. We sat at the bar, my friend ordered a beer and I had a Michelada(one of my favorites) along with an order of guacamole with tortilla chips. As we observed the space and the clientele, it appears a lot of regulars frequent this space. We were sipping our drinks and realized the order of guac and chips were taking longer than usual. The barista apologized for the delay and explained their kitchen was unusually busy due to the brunch menu which had just launched that day. They provided us with two tequila shots on the house for waiting longer than usual for the order and then we received our order with nicely warmed chips and homemade guac. Overall the place is cool to go in for a drink and just have a chill time and down a few Micheladas… which by the way one is enough for me.

Bartenders were nice, but who I assume was the owner. Not so much. I had been sitting at the bar for a while drinking a beer and needed to use the restroom. As I was walking back an older lady chased me down and yelled at me saying that the bathroom was for customers only. I let her know that I was a customer and was sitting at the bar. No apology, just another lecture. I have worked for owners like her and truly feel sorry for her staff.

Best margarita place. They have an amazing selection of mezcals and tequila. The bartenders are super friendly and are always willing to teach you about different Mezcal and tequilas Thanks Ask and Erito.

Far from great, but solid enough that if your in the area and craving Mexican it’s worth a visit. The Margaritas are strong, and love their chips and salsa. The ceviche was also surprisingly good, which I did not expect. The interior is pretty drab and has seen better days, but for a quick drink and some chips and salsa you could do worse.

Went here to meet my friend at the bar for his birthday on Saturday night. They were playing salsa the whole time and the bar area was getting crowded. I started dancing salsa with my husband and my girlfriend when an alder lady who seems to be the Manager or owner of the restaurant came to us and said with a very mean look on her face«there is no dancing here!» My friend and I looked at each other like what did she just say? No dancing? I know this is a restaurant but we were by the bar area not bothering anyone. What kind or restaurant/bar blasts salsa music and then tells people you can’t dance? I was so confused I approched the lady and I asked her«why?» which she replied this is not a cabaret. I felt so ofended I told my husband I wanted to leave and left the place. Why do you have a mexican restaurant blasting salsa music like a bar if you can’t dance. It does not make sense and to later offend your customers for dancing it’s so unnaceptable. I for sure won’t be coming back here and will tell all my friends, family and followers in social media not to come here. This is not the 1920’s and there is no prohibition to dancing in the Unites States that I know of. Don’t run a mexican or latino restaurant if you don’t support the latino community and are racist. Shame on you!

My friend and I came here on a week night while walking down Bedford and trying to figure out where to go. We saw they had a happy hour and decided to go in for a drink. The happy hour was $ 4 bottles, $ 5 draughts, and $ 7 margaritas, so we opened a tab and hung out for a while. We got hungry, transferred our tab, and went to sit in the garden which is in the back of the restaurant, and we ordered food. The garden is a cute, fun, small area away from the street which is nice because it’s not so loud. We ordered the steak nachos to split, they were delicious, the only down part to them was that they gave only about 5 nachos. As entrees my friend ordered the wings, and I ordered the tacos(steak & chicken) with a salad instead of rice on the side. Our entrees were great, I loved the tacos. Kevin was our server, and he was really nice and attentive to us and every other table dinning in the garden. The food is decently priced, and delicious, so you can’t beat it. When we got the bill we realized that they didn’t give us the happy hour prices for our drinks we got during happy hour, but we didn’t say anything about it. I would for sure return here very soon!

Came here with a coworker last night and everything about this place was awesome, from the food, to the prices, to the chill outdoor garden area in the back. They have 5 $ frozen margaritas for happy hour special which are very large and delicious. We also got the grilled corn which is 6.50 for 2 ears, and covered in chipotle mayo and mexican cheese– so tasty. The quesadillas were also 7 – 9 $ and very large portion size. The best part was, there were some other patrons leaving the bar who gave us their unfinished pitcher of margs for free!

I came across this place while walking home on one of the coldest nights of the year. As a matter of fact they named a drink after it «close the door» as patrons kept entering but forgot to close the door. I digress. Everyone is welcomed. There is no «attitude» from the staff and in my experience from the patrons either. I can feel old Billyburgh heck I can feel old Brooklyn. At the same time the bar embraces, welcomes all of the changes in the neighborhood, there is even a «Mayor» of the bar and neighborhood. Recently several friends and I organized a birthday dinner for a good friend of mine. The owner personally welcomed him and wished him a happy birthday! Yes the cool guy with the vintage 40’s hats who works his butt off and still has time to welcome new guest! The steak dinner I had that night was out of this world. This is one of a dying breed. This is a special place. Love you guys!

Hot damn, I love this place. 1. MOLÉ. Holy mole, theirs is on point. If I order a dish that doesn’t come with molé, I order a side of it and smother. Savory and tangy and barely sweet. 2. You get what you pay for. Sure, there are trucks up and down Bedford Ave who’ll throw a couple tacos your way. But these are carefully prepared with fresh ingredients and most dishes are served with flavorful beans & rice. 3. It’s family owned, with a low employee turnover — an I really appreciate that homey vibe. (Ok, the owner is beyond clinically insane — I’ve watched her freak out at waiters, bartenders, cooks — she’s nuts. But the staff somehow take it in stride.) I like meeting friends here for a quick bite & a couple drinks before we’re off to the concert. Which reminds me… 4. They play drum & bass! =D

Great service but terrible food. It was just no flavor. Asked for chimichuri sauce and they didn’t have it. The chef made it for us apparently but it was not good. Wouldn’t go back but rather go down the street to dos taros.

A friend of mine has a two-state rule when it comes to Mexican food. He grew up in California and says that all of the best Mexican food occurs within two states of Mexico. Knowing this high standard to which he holds this type of food, I was understandably concerned when a third friend suggested that we stop for Mexican on our way to a birthday party. When we first arrived at Veracruz, I think they were quite busy and we had walked in at the same time as a number of other tables. The servers seemed pretty busy, and were actually less than enthusiastic about our arrival. But, they had $ 5 margaritas. We decided this was worth the wait. Not delicious, but they were strong! AND, they asked if we wanted salt or not, which is always nice. Considering how busy the waitress was, I was kind of surprised at her dedication to getting it right as opposed to just getting it out and getting on with the rest of her tables. I had the Vegetable Enchiladas($ 10). It had a nice mix of vegetables, with more than just peppers and onions. The rice and beans were delicious. It could have used more of a sauce, as it was a bit dry. The salsa was decent, so I’d ask for a side of that to accompany the dish. We had places to be and were already late, so we didn’t get too adventurous with the appetizers or desserts, but I’d go back to this place to try some other stuff. Oh, and the guy with the 2-state rule? He thinks the chefs are Texas transplants. So, there’s that.
