We have been there three times in the last month and everything we have eaten there was above expectations. This is a real gem. its seems to be getting crowded now as word of mouth is filling this gem up with new patrons. i don’t like waiting but this place is worth the wait. The staff are all excellent workers. we will continue to keep trying everything on the menu because so far it has been excellant

I’m a Northeast Philadelphia«Dining Car» native, also featured in an episode of «Diners, Drive In’s and Dives» on the Food Network, same owners. Great fresh food and the staff is amazing! Reasonable prices also. I was so excited to know they opened a place near where I live now. They also sell the most amazing pies. Their Jewish Apple Cake and Apple Walnut pie are second to none. I’m a frequent visitor!

This was definitely a great place to have breakfast. The service was fast and friendly and the food was delicious. The menu had a lot delicious food to choose from. They also have great choices for eating healthy for example I ordered egg whites and turkey sausage.

came here on a Saturday around 11a and we were seated right away towards the storefront in the corner. the booth seat sat low and was a wicker sort of feel. our server came over and took our orders but seemed like she was in a hurry. we got our drinks(coffee and a cinnamon cappuccino) quickly but our food(french toast and pancakes) took almost 20min. we even got a «your food is on its way» from our server. i almost finished my cappuccino before our food even got to us and that’s saying something because i take forever to finish drinks, just ask my husband. food was good, nothing super fancy about it. our bill was about $ 12-$ 14 per person and paid up front by the amazing display of baked goods. the 2 restrooms tucked near the back by the kitchen were in decent shape. open to trying this place again.

I previously gave this restaurant a 3 star. Tried it the second time Still a little pricy but I had Eggs Benedict with potato pancakes. Both were excellent! Fast service. Coffee was great! I would go here again.

Delicious food, friendly and accommodating staff and comfortably spaced atmosphere! Delicious apple walnut muffin with my two eggs, and others in my party enjoyed the hotcakes and omelettes. Can’t say enough nice things about the waitress(Angel); from her patience when waiting for our large family to get ready to order to paying close attention to my nieces’ food allergies, wonderful experience! Also the manager made sure our party of 11 including one chair just for an infant had plenty of space! Definitely will enjoy breakfast here again!

First, all of the staff was Super nice! Everything was delicious! I shared eggs Benedict and banana French toast. They also have sweets to go, Apple muffin-delish. They don’t take reservations but they do have call ahead, I would highly recommend doing that on a Sunday morning. I will be back!

What a cute little place!!! Had a late brunch here with a friend at her suggestion a few weeks ago. There were lots of things on the menu that caught my eye but I decided on the one that I kept coming back to and I’m glad I did — the Cream Cheese Omelet(bacon, cream cheese and chive omelet topped with fresh sliced tomatoes served with home fries and toast). It was so good — have never had cream cheese on an omelet before but boy, did it work. Anyway, my friend enjoyed the South Philly Hot Roast Pork Panini(slow roasted pork, provolone cheese, and gravy with spinach & roasted peppers) which came with some tasty homemade potato chips. The only downfall of the Apple Walnut Café is their prices — $ 10.70 for an omelet and home fries and toast is a bit much, especially for the area. I know of several similar cafes on the Main Line where I can get a comparable meal for $ 2-$ 3 less. Overall though, I really liked the place and can’t wait to go back.

Great new breakfast/brunch café in Broomall! This town has been dying for a brunch spot for a long time. Apple Walnut is great, they serve breakfast and lunch, plus they have an assortment of specialty breads/cakes/cookies that are great to go. The menu features a wide selection of brunch items — there are the classics, like two eggs with your typical sides. but then it also features some adventurous items like eggs latke or apple cake french toast. What I really liked is the selection of toast options they offer, not only do they offer your usual white, wheat, and rye, but they also offer cinnamon raisin bread, apple walnut muffin, & apple bread — all homemade! So good! Apple Walnut is BYO so don’t forget your bottle of champs for mimosas!

A relatively new breakfast place not far from my lady’s house was the incentive for us to stop in this morning to give it a try. Easy to find and we were able to get a parking spot which could be a problem if you don’t get there early. Fellow Unilocalers did a great job describing the landscape. It was well lit, spacious and welcoming. Our waitress was excellent. My lady ordered apple walnut stuffed with cream cheese French toast and loved it. I ordered an omelette with several choice ingredients that was ok. The end of the omelette tasted uncooked. Nothing special about it. The breakfast potatoes were bad. Not even cooked in my opinion. Coffee was OK. The samples of their award winning Jewish Apple cake were a nice touch and delicious. I’ve been to their northeast philly location in the past and thought it was good. This place could be great but for now — it’s okay.

Partner had pumpkin French Toast with maple syrup and this diner had the BPO(egg white) omelet. wonderful healthy garnishes and good coffee made my day. The wait staff were knowledgeable and friendly. We arrived for the early morning rush of after 7:30am Mass and the place was full so we parked at the bar and were happy we did. comfortable and quick service. We’ll be back…

We stopped in here for breakfast on a Saturday around 11. I have to say, I have passed by here several times and there is always a line outside so they are doing something right. As stated in my previous review, the apple pie is tasty and unique. After a short wait, we were escorted to our table and offered a small slice of apple cake to share. You get the impression that they bake all of their stuff here. That appears not to be the case. When I ordered my eggs, I asked which breads were baked in house. I was told the apple bread, not the cinnamon bread which they label as their own. There are many other choices. The eggs were ordered over easy and were cooked perfectly with a generous side of sausage. The potatoes were a bit sleepy but ok. My dining partner ordered the pumpkin French toast special which was three small slices of pumpkin bread with chocolate and bacon. This seemed to be an odd combination but it worked for her. Coffee was ok but not remarkable. Service was pleasant but be prepared to feel rushed as they want to sit the folks destined to watch and wait until your table is cleared. Overall, this is a great place for dessert, both the Apple pie and cake, but just ok for breakfast. There are other places where you can do better for the same price. $ 23 without the tip.

Perhaps I should have tried their signature dish as my first visit did not go well! I stopped in at 9:45 on a Saturday and it was mobbed with folks waiting outside. I was a single and there is a tiny bar that seats five and I snagged the one remaining seat. The owner was holding court behind the bar and she is a nice lady and I enjoyed speaking with her. They also own the Dining Car in Northeast Philadelphia. The ATMOSPHERE here is perfect for breakfast. It’s bright and airy and just in general a cheerful looking place. I ordered a Ham & Cheese Omelet for $ 10. I choose cheddar for my cheese. I asked to substitute an English muffin for my toast and they happily did that without an upcharge. I added a bottomless coffee served in a giant mug for $ 2. Up until this point everything was great and then my meal arrived. The first word that came to my mind was BORING. Check out my pic. It just looked plain. There was indeed ham and cheddar in my omelet but not much of either. The omelet was slightly under-cooked so some of the cheese had not melted. I was unimpressed. The potatoes were skin-on cubes with no seasoning and they were not browned at all! BORING! My CUSTOMERSERVICE was just fine until it came time to pay my bill. A waitress saw my charge card and kept walking by me and saying«I won’t forget you.» This happened four times! I finally made eye contact with the owner and she took my $$. Will I be back? My answer is yes. They have only been open a month so they deserve another shot.

I came here to get something from Original Bagel, but I noticed this place had opened up and I can’t resist a new breakfast place. Judging by the reviews here, I think this place has a lot of potential. I hope they reach it. But I noticed a couple of issues. I ordered a breakfast sandwich on a bagel with turkey sausage, egg, and cheese. That was pretty good. It was definitely sizable. The samplings I tasted of the apple cake and apple pie were excellent. Nothing wrong with those. I will say that the side of potatoes I received with my meal were a letdown. Home fries are supposed to have some crust on them. These were barely cooked with no crunch whatsoever. It was also a very small portion in comparison. Also, this may be a pet peeve of mine alone. I just think that a place like this that is trying to provide a meal that is a notch above your usual diner fare should serve better coffee than Ellis. I will come back though to try other dishes. They can still win me over.

Holy Jewish Apple cake, did I just find my new favorite breakfast joint? I think I just did! Went this morning with my momma and we fell in love. It certainly is much bigger than how it looks on the outside. All the staff is super friendly and attentive. My mom ordered the cream chipped beef and FUNFACT: the waitress told us that the chef there was featured in an episode of Dinners, Drive Ins and Dives for his cream chipped beef. Yeah, it was THAT good. I had the cowboy wrap and a side of potatoes. Everything was amazing. The coffee mugs are huge and that’s always a plus, I can’t stand tiny coffee cups. We will definitely be back!

Where do I even begin?! Let’s start with my server Angel. She was absolutely the sweetest, most friendly, and engaging waitress I have ever encountered. She has that charm and smile that just starts your day off in a positive way. The location is literally a block from my house in a Plaza across the street from Swiss Farms. As I walked inside the atmosphere had a fresh positive energy to it all around with their cute décor with emphasis on the color red. Now for the food! I came here for brunch and started off with fresh squeezed orange juice my favorite morning drink while I waited on my order and they also served me a sample of the Jewish apple cake which was gone in like a second POOF! I ordered the Apple Walnut Stuffed French Toast. Let me tell you this was by far one of the best French toasts I have had! It was so fresh and well prepared! My favorite part was the walnuts which give it that nice extra crunch! I was very pleased with my experience here! The service was fast, friendly, and efficient! I will definitely be a regular here.

Attractive inside, great staff — fast and courteous, terrific food. I had the Apple Walnut Stuffed French Toast… I consider myself a connoisseur of stuffed french toast and this was over the top. I would go back just for the meal. Great job I will be back to enjoy some more! If you are in the area give them a try you won’t regret it. They are right next door to Swiss Farms.

Visited: Monday — September 14, 2015 — 11:30AM In the Broomall Shopping center formerly occupied by PNC bank is Apple Walnut Café. I’ve wanted to try AWC since I saw its transformation and the planned opening«around Labor Day». I was greeted by a group of young, fresh, faces donning bright red t-shirts with the«Apple Walnut Café –Broomall, Pa» logo. It is a very pretty, bright, inviting room with cakes, pies, and miscellaneous goodies. I was escorted to an open table and offered a menu packed with breakfast and lunch selections. Before I could begin reading the menu, I was treated with a morsel of Jewish Apple cake… very good… very moist. A huge, brightly-colored mural of an apple tree graced the wall as I faced the rear of the building. Motown music played throughout my visit. I ordered a cup of New England clam chowder and a Garden Burger with tomato and lettuce. The New England clam chowder was thick, and creamy and perfectly flavored with adequate chunks of potatoes and clams. The Garden Burger(Veggie burger) was bland but, the homemade potato chips were properly seasoned and salted with a delightfully, distinctive crunch. A pickle wedge accompanied the meal. I washed everything down with black«Café Bold» coffee. The coffee was hot, full bodied and smooth. AWC opened on Saturday September 12. I believe they will remain open for many years.
