Love coming here when it opens at 6:30. It’s quiet and great for studying. Employees are very personable. And the coffee is superb. There are no breakfast sandwiches, which is a bit of a disappointment for me anyway. But the fact that this place makes coffee brewing into an artisan skill keeps me coming back. Also worth noting: this place does community fundraisers. Most recently, they had artwork on the walls for sale to help pay the medical bills of a young cancer patient in the area. Truly a community-centered business.

I discovered this place by accident after my daughter finished her swim practice. The location is not great but once you walk in you can just smell great coffee beans, they have their own very large grinder and as others mention the place is set up very comfortably. The coffee was amazing, I moved from CA and am a big fan of Peets and this is just as good if not better. For my daughter they also have really great smoothies. The only surprise and disappointment is they are not open on Sundays, perhaps due to the location but that surprised me.

For the non-Starbucks crowd, this little spot offers a place to chill by yourself or with a friend as you enjoy the fine local coffee and eclectic music. After only being here twice, I’m hooked. My only regret is that there isn’t one in New Jersey.

Great coffee place in a town where there are not many. They’re also doing excellent job supporting the local music scene I am always a huge fan of that! And no TV’s anywhere! If you’re in the area looking for a good coffee shop where you can hear live music, you found the right place here.

I go here every morning on my way to school and work. I prefer this place over starbucks xD The interior is more so like a laid back lounge and I often just sit there with friends for hours on a rainy day :) Great iced mocha and green tea

I really want to give this place a 5. The coffee choices are great, the people who work there are friendly. It’s always been a pleasant experience for me. The beans they roast and you can buy and take home are great. As a music venue is great as well. However, some of the negative things other reviewers have mentioned are true. While the coffee is great, the food isn’t. And if all you want is a quick cup of coffee to go, it’s probably not a good choice. There’s a bit of a wait. My wife and I tend to go on Saturday afternoons. So we’re never in a rush, but they are always crowded with a number of people who get one beverage then linger for hours playing cards or board games. Not that you want to rush people out. It’s supposed to be a casual atmosphere, but some people seem to want to spend their retirement there.

Came here for open mic last night and had a great time! It’s cool that they do this free event, and there was some great talent. Definitely a fun night out. The place is pretty small, so it’s a little hard to find seating, but someone that worked there saw me standing and found me a place to sit which was so nice. The frozen hot chocolate is also amazing! They serve their hot drinks in handmade pottery which is a cute touch. Definitely planning to come back for open mic night in the future.

Picked up a bag of their whole bean coffee the other day. I saw plenty of good reviews across Unilocal,Facebook and the like, so I was excited to get it home, grind it up, and make a cup. To say I was disappointed with the average quality beans is an understatement. When I pay $ 16 for a bag of coffee, I expect it to be somewhat interesting. The coffee I got was quite nondescript; vaguely nutty, with a hint of chocolate and some wet sawdust notes to it, but otherwise flat and uninteresting. I don’t get how they’re at such a high price point for such unremarkable coffee. The oft reviled 7 – 11 serves more flavorful coffee than what I got from these guys and I think that says it all. Save your money.

My last visit to Burlap and Bean was to specifically visit with the Rachel who is in the house roasting coffee Mon — W and Fri from 0630 on. She was welcoming of my interest and questions about the process of roasting that depends on her heart, ears, eyes and nose. Enjoy a cup of coffee, hang out with Rachel and talk coffee.

Yummy coffee and treats. Nice place to sit and chat and catch up with friends. One of my favorite things about this place is their live music they have after close on certain nights. You have to pay a cover to get in but I do believe it is BYOB which is nice! A good date night idea!

Great coffee, freshly roasted and served in a beautifully appointed space by knowledgable baristas. With free wi fi and a preset soundstage for live music later in the day, what more could you desire?

Famished after a long day of work, I came upon the welcome oasis of Burlap and Bean as I mentally prepared for a long evening in class. I happily ordered my favorite hot beverage and asked about the daily sandwich options. My eyes lit up as the barista described a veggie burger with a mountain of toppings: caramelized onions, hummus, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. «All of the above!» I cried in hungry, happy delirium. My drink was served in minutes and I happily sipped while checking out the local wares for sale around this adorable café, looking forward to this Friday night when a good friend of mine will be playing live music on their intimate stage. Lost in thought, I suddenly realized almost 15 minutes had passed. I looked around to check on the process of this veggie burger of my dreams. «Did anyone start that veggie burger yet?» one barista said to another. No, this was not the beginning of a joke. Wait, yes it was: No one had started my burger yet, even though other food orders placed after me had been started, completed, served, and eaten. She apologized to me for the wait. I said«No problem!» Having worked in the food industry for over a decade, I understand sometimes you get slammed and that’s okay. When my order came up after 25 minutes of waiting, I happily reached for my to-go package and walked out to my car. It felt very light, so I opened it up to find there was no patty in the burger. There was no *burger* in my burger. I took it back, the barista apologized, and I waited while she microwaved the actual burger. She handed it back to me, apologized a third time, and I drove 5 minutes away to my destination. I unpacked my Dreamburger and took a huge bite, and then frowned as hard as I could with that much Dreamburger in my mouth. Instead of the mouth-watering caramelized onions the barista had confidently advertised, I found a thick slab of red onion. Instead of the luscious avocado I had imagined, I found myself gums-deep in a thick wedge of crunchy avocado that probably won’t be ripe until next year. And by «next year» I mean never, because its destiny is the garbage can. I slid the onion slab out of the sandwich, pried the hard-as-wood avocado from my jaw, and ate the rest of it because the patty itself, paired with whatever toppings were left, was actually delicious. But seriously, four mistakes in one sandwich? 35 minutes in total waiting, missing patty, wrong onions, and wooden avocado. Not cool. HOWEVER, every single coffee-based drink I’ve ever gotten here has been absolutely phenomenal and I will continue going here because it’s convenient for me, but gah, this experience prompted me to write my second Unilocal review ever.

Love stopping in here on my way to Verandas across the street! I always go for their daily green tea and chocolate covered sunflower seeds. Bought the dog treats this time too… I’m sure my pups will give them 5 stars! Great for checking email and doing a little work when I have time to kill as well.

Simply the best. Wonderful staff serves up free-trade organic coffee and a wide variety of beverages and food. Pleasant singer songwriter sound track completes the experience. Catch their Friday and Saturday evening shows for some entertaining live local music.

I stopped in here for coffee with a friend. This is her go-to coffee spot so I obliged. The atmosphere here is nice but not very warm. I like the original art and the have a stage set up for music in the evenings but I don’t like the fact that they close so early. The cappuccino here is good. I get it with soy as milk seems to get to me but it’s nice and frothy and not soy-y. I also had the apple strudel which was really not strudel but mor of a pie-ish thing. Coffee 4 stars. Dessert –3. It’s ok but not fabulous so three stars from me

Great mocha, welcoming coffee shop décor, large seating area relative to the average coffee shop around delco. A pleasant surprise in an area that doesn’t have many great neighborhood coffee shops

Really only come here for the music events, the place is just great to see a live show and i really hope they keep that going. As for food, coffee, it’s fine except I’m not sure I appreciate the attitude of «Baristas». I don’t know what’s up with people who work in coffee shops, their communications with customers leaves a lot to be desired. Oh well. I’ll be back anyway.

I have stopped in at Burlap & Bean twice now — once in the afternoon for an iced coffee which was very good and once in the morning for an iced latte which was so strong and bitter I could only drink about half of it and threw the other half out. The place is very nice, clean and spacious and I will definitely come back to hear some music in the evenings, but I am gun-shy of thei espresso drinks now, which is a shame, as I love a good latte/iced latte etc. Could be a 4 star place but that latte really tasted bad. Service was friendly.

I like to stop at different places on the way to work for my bagel and coffee. I spread it around. That’s just how I roll. My ride to work is 252 every day. I’ve hit almost every place on the way. For some reason I’ve been passing this place for years and never went in. I decided this past Monday to change that. I suppose that in the end I really shouldn’t judge a coffee house on its food offerings. But it is important to me. The bagel was big, but a little airy and soft for my tastes. They also only give one small tub of cream cheese which isn’t nearly enough to cover it, and they don’t spread it on for you. Ok, I know it’s not a bagel place. But let’s just say that nothing about their bagels will make me give up my favorite breakfast spots. However, the coffee was on point and might be better than Starbucks. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere looks cozy. There are plenty of positives here. Come here to relax for a while with a cup of joe. Go somewhere else if you want to nosh.

Both times here seats hogged by people for hours thus no seats available for the 5 to 10 in line. Maybe its the bad weather but I can never get a seat in this place. Wonder if they realize how much biz they lose to next door burger joint??? Both times i saw people going there instead after seeing no seating. So did I. Finally I got in here and ordered a toasted bagel. AFTER I paid I was informed they don’t toast it for you and they handed me 2 butters in hard to open containers to toast my own. I don’t recall getting a discount for making my own food. Toaster area is where everyone comes to put extra cream in their coffees, get napkins, dispose of their trash etc. on top of a counter that didn’t looked wiped. In other words it’s gross. Did I mention they didn’t give me a plate for my bagel??? I’m guessing all the great reviews come from the people who spend a third of their day there but for me they could do much better than just making coffee. ll come back for coffee but not for food.
