Our youngest son has had a fascination with Forrest Gump for most of his life. When we decided to take a road trip to Florida, one of the stops was through the Brunswick area, just so we could take a shrimpin’ cruise, so he would be able to be like Forrest Gump. As it turns out, it’s not quite the same — but it’s close. To start, you are advised to make reservations, which they don’t really honor. The person who took the information had trouble hearing, or didn’t normally do it, or something. I’m not really sure if he even wrote it down. When we arrived, they didn’t seem interested if we had given reservations, and we were among the last people on the boat. Even if you have«reservations», get there early, because they don’t seem important. Once you’re on the boat, get a good spot(near the back), as that’s where the action is. Though you have space up front, and it’s a nice view, you can’t hear anything at all, and you definitely won’t be able to see what’s happening. On our cruise, the net was dropped(and thus pulled up) three times, spilling lots of creatures, even including a few shrimp. Most of what came up, however, was not shrimp. The haul was educational, however, to see all sorts of fish, rays, shark and whatnot. Many of which were either already dead or died quickly thereafter. So if this sort of thing bothers you, you may want to stay up front and not watch. During the cruise, the rest of the crew boils up some fresh(ish) shrimp. Since our catch was a bit light, they said it came from an earlier cruise, and not our actual catch. But it was still tasty — and even though there were around 90 people on the boat, there was plenty to go around. Probably not enough for a full dinner, but definitely for everyone to get a good sampling.

I booked a shrimpin trip for my birthday weekend; flew down from Chicago to take this adventure. This is one of the best excursion I have been on; was in Portland Maine for a lobster excursion and this by far was much better. Cliff is the captain/owner’s son and he was so professional and accommodating. The day was very windy so we didn’t go out far which was fine they dropped the nets 3 times and it was so fun and exciting to see what lives in the waters. ½ way through the trip we were served fresh GA shrimp with cocktail sauce. The trip lasted about 3 hours which was perfect if you get a chance and love nature/seafood take this trip well worth the money. Will go again when we are down in GA
