Ok bbq. Fast. Lots of seating. Good portions. Sauce not my favorite… on the less sweet side.

Chopped BBQ sandwich. I really don’t like chopped brisket sandwiches when they pull the meat out of a pot where they have mixed everything together. I like my chopped brisket to be fresh brisket and they cut and chop the meat in front of you. Don’t let me present the wrong impression. This place was clean and had lots of people enjoys their meals. If i had know I would have gotten the sliced brisket sandwich. I would like to try them again sometime and see how the brisket is.

Had the chicken and ribs which counts as a three meat plate because they give you so much meat! The chicken was so good, moist and tender, the ribs were really nice and tender. I had the baked potato nice and hot and loaded. Tea was good too. Will definitely be going back to try out their other menu items.

It’s BBQ so yeah. Pretty standard. I really was looking for a chicken fried steak but they don’t have one. The BBQ was decent. Nothing totally exceptional. Nice woodsey dining room with sauce on the table. My friend had catfish but not not overly thrilled with it. There were 2 private events going on so they have those rooms. you eat with plastic dinnerware on foam plates. It said WiFi guest but was asking for a password and we didn’t know it.

I recently went to C&J BBQ and I have to say I had a great restaurant experience where I felt like I was really eating at a place that had good food. I ordered Brisket, Pork Ribs and sausage and it all tasted good. Most places have lost the passion for serving customers good food but, I can honestly say that this place is still holding on.

Dude, really gross! If this is the«Best Barbeque in the Brazos Valley» as they proclaim everywhere you look, I feel sorry for the Brazos Valley. I attended a business lunch/meeting here one afternoon and if my meal hadn’t been comped by my company, I’d be mad. The C&J building is new-ish and rather large on S. Texas Ave, but is decorated like somebody went crazy in the bargain bin at TJ Maxx or Marshall’s. Every kitschy«country» sign you can think of has been plastered on the wall. It’s fine if you want to decorate in that style for a BBQ restaurant, but at least own it. Get some real wood and real paint and nail your sign on the wall. Don’t be a fraud. As for the food, I ordered a two-meat plate(moist brisket & turkey) with potato salad and mac ‘n cheese($ 11). The walls are plastered with«Best Barbecue» awards from 2002 — 2013, so I thought it must be at least decent. Surely the Brazos Valley has some respectable competition, right? This is still Texas after all. Well, the food was bad. The brisket was lightly smoked, and lacked tenderness, flavor and seasoning. I wouldn’t say it even had a bark, just a black coloring on the outside of the beef. Really poor! In all seriousness, I wouldn’t be surprised if the meat came pre-cooked from H-E-B– and had been re-heated in a microwave. If possible, the turkey was even worse. It was rubbery and flavorless and I threw most of it away. I hoped the sauce would at least make the meat edible, but even that was bad. There is a mild sauce with a strong ketchupy unpleasant flavor, and there is a hot sauce which can be obtained at the condiment bar. I will say the hot sauce, called«Lip-burning sauce», was one of the few things about the meal which was represented accurately. My lips did indeed burn. The potato salad was a creamy mayo variety and had zero seasoning or acid, and consequently little flavor. It was like eating bits of potatoes dunked in plain yogurt. The mac ‘n cheese was actually pretty good — it is similar to what you get at Luby’s. Unfortunately, after I finished the mac ‘n cheese there was nothing else edible on my plate. I will mention also that the first thing you see when walking in the door at C&J’s is a sticker«We support the National Rifle Association!». The TV’s were also showing Fox News. Now I understand this is a barbeque restaurant in Bryan/College Station, the place where they name everything after George Bush. But as a business, surely you can’t count on ALL your customers being d*ckwad republicans? Surely at least 1 in 10 customers immediately hate your guts and will leave immediately or not return. How is that a smart business strategy? If I didn’t have to go to my meeting, I’d have been gone.(I would ordinarily subtract a star for this offense, but seeing as their food quality was already a 1, they have no more stars to lose) Lastly, I looked up the«Best of the Brazos» awards. Not surprisingly, it’s a scam operated by Bryan Broadcasting Inc, which just so happens to nominate frequent advertisers in its«Best» category. Online voting determines who wins, which of course makes it in a big popularity contest unless you just pay a marketing firm to stuff the ballot box for you. Award winners, as represented so plainly by C&J, do not reflect actual prominence in their categories. Not altogether surprising because they serve really bad BBQ here. Go somewhere else!

Great place, not a fan of the BCS area but was up there for work and popped in. The brisket had a great flavor, got the ranch potatoes and the fried okra both very good. The pork ribs were on point, best I’ve had in a long time. On our way out we bumped into the owner bussing tables had a nice chat great guy, good to see he is still part of the day to day operations and greeting customers after 30 years

Can be amazing BBQ, can be tough and mediocre. If you get it on a good day, you’ll sing its praises. Otherwise, you can get just as good for cheaper elsewhere

Was hoping to find country battered chicken fingers here… Ordered a basket of 4 chicken fingers. Took them 15 mins to bring out the chicken fingers… and there were only 2 fingers. I asked about the other two chicken fingers… They said they would bring out the other two. Waited another 10 mins for it. What a joke. The chicken fingers were an epic fail! Disappointed in this place!

In College Station for the night, I was told about C&J’s as the best place in town for BBQ, so I was all over it! I got there around 7:45 pm and I was the only one there!(Where is everybody?) They close at 8:30, so everybody must’ve eaten earlier. If you’re looking for a fine dining establishment, with waiters, etc, keep looking! But if you’re looking for great BBQ and don’t care that it’s served on styrofoam plates, you’ll be very happy! I had the 2 meat and 3 sides: Brisket and Pulled Pork, Green Beans, Fried Okra, and Poppyseed Cole Slaw. I washed it down with a Shiner Bock, and I was happy. The two different sauces were very good and complimented the meats perfectly. The Brisket was flakey and delicious. The Pulled Pork was equally great! Very good BBQ!

The best brisket I’ve ever had! I had the Thursday lunch special with brisket and two sides. Part of the brisket I received was from the end portion of another piece of brisket and part from a new piece of brisket so I could definitely tell a difference between the one that had been sitting around for a while and the one that was freshly cut into. The older one was a bit dry as the juices has drained out a little but the one that was freshly cut was DIVINE! The cole slaw was standard and the mashed potatoes were good too. I couldn’t finish it though because I was too busy eating the meat first! My husband got the chopped brisket sandwich and said that it wasn’t very good.

Where to begin… I love barbecue. I own a smoker. I make my own dry rubs. I am a barbecue snob. But sometimes you just want barbecue fast and don’t want to be watching a smoker for hours. That being said, I really appreciate a good barbecue joint; I love eating with my hands off of butcher paper with a roll of paper towels on the table. C & J, you have disappointed me. Severely. The brisket is usually over-smoked and under seasoned, the ribs are decent, but not cooked tender enough and the sides are… meh. The potato salad has too much mayonaise, the beans are pretty good, the coleslaw is decent(but how hard is it to make coleslaw?) and the macaroni and cheese… is it Stouffers? I would bet money it’s not homemade. I’m not a dessert person so I’ve not had their desserts, but given the quality of the entrees and sides, I’m probably not missing much. As for Best of the Brazos, well, maybe that’s not hard since there aren’t a lot of barbecue joints here. If you only like barbecue chicken, smoked sausage and beans, this is the place for you. If you’re a Texan and like a good brisket… learn how to cook and go to Walmart to get a $ 40 smoker and make it yourself. I’ve eaten here a few times and each time has been mediocre at best, the last time being down-right upsetting.

Amazing BBQ. Great place for any meal. The portions are extremely large and the BBQ is flavorful. It is all served cafeteria style so you can view every item there is to offer. The people cutting the BBQ and the cashiers are so nice and helpful. I was torn and couldn’t decide what to get and the staff told me their favorites. They even let me try a small piece of each meat before I bought any, good old southern hospitality. I had the brisket, ranch potatoes, mac n cheese, ribs, turkey, and a jalapeño. All cooked slow and low to perfection. My favorite place to go whenever in College Station. The brisket is flavorful, the ribs are fall off the bone, the turkey is smoked goodness, and the jalapeño sausage is a new experience, one I don’t care to forget. My sides taste’s rivaled that of the meat. Ranch potato salad wasn’t too creamy, and mac n cheese was perfect. The atmosphere is a typical BBQ pit but this place is very clean. picnic table seating, paper plates, roll of paper towel at the table(you’re gonna need ‘em especially if you get the ribs!), squirt bottle full of BBQ sauce, salad bar, and soda fountain. I kinda stand out here being Asian and all but everyone’s all friendly like and are happy to help out. Overall I would definitely come back. The price is on par with the quality and quantity of food. Be prepared to go through a lot of that BBQ sauce in the squirt bottle because it’s smoky and delicious and do not to forget to load up on pickles, onions, and jalapenos.

The was a fun place to have dinner. As mentioned before you order buffet style at the counter with plate prices depending on how many meats you want. And I’ve gotta say I love the jalapeño sausage. It’s easy to order as you can see ll the foods clearly. All you have to do is grunt and point to what you want. :) I would say this is decent bbq style food. Yet if you will look at the photos I just uploaded, their sign says«Best in Brazos Valley». So I am gonna have to call them out on that one. Cause we all know that if a place has to say they are the best, they usually are not, and this is a case in point. Aside from that it’s a little too expensive in my opinion…

Good BBQ. And I’m not really a fan of BBQ. C& J’s keeps it simple. And that’s what you want with Texas BBQ. Good, well cooked and seasoned meats, with a tasty sauce. When you enter, you order at the counter cafeteria style. You have a selection of different size plates and sandwhiches, side dishes(which were very tasty, perhaps the best part), and deserts. Once you’ve paid you can select from the typical condiments of dill pickle slices, sliced onions, jalepenos, and extra sauce, among others. I got the sweet tea because I consider myself an aficionado of sorts. It was tasty, like hummingbird water, so it didn’t disappoint. The dining style is extremely casual with picnic tables for seating and paper towels on the table. I loved it. And I don’t usually like BBQ. Try the jalapeo cheese sausage.
