We knew we were going to be in College Station, so we did a search for«the best BBQ». Fargo’s came up, and we were not disappointed. The food was DELICIOUS and the staff was great. My husband ordered ribs and sausage, and he loved it. I ordered the brisket sandwich, and it was so big that I couldn’t eat it all. We also ordered mac and cheese(very good), and red beans. The red beans were seasoned perfectly. We would definitely stop there again if we are ever in College Station. In fact, if you are visiting the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library, or Texas A & M, it is worth the short trip to Fargo’s.

Holy Cow this is definitely the best BBQ I have eaten! Friendly service and great food! Give these folks a try.

Absolutely delightful! Brisket was tender and no fat! Baked beans were sweet and delicious, I tasted nutmeg in there somewhere! Potato salad was the perfect balance between mayo and mustard and tasted homemade. Older building, but seemed fairly clean. I would recommend this place if you are in the area.

1st time visit, 1st impression: sausage and ribs are fantastic, sliced brisket is okay, potato salad is mediocre, red beans are tasty, and BBQ sauce is good but slightly on the too ketchupy side. I will be back for the great ribs and sausage. The ribs are super tender!

Finally got around to trying their BBQ. It lived up to its reputation. I can’t even describe the taste bc it was truly unique & what bbq should taste like. I rank this better than Kreux, & Kruex much better than Rudy’s. The pricing is also legit. I spent around $ 20 for 1 lb ribs & ½ pound brisket.

Brisket is only OK. In all fairness, I asked for lean. My mistake. Sausage is moist and pretty darn good. BBQ sauce is excellent. Baked beans are sweetened with what we think is brown sugar and cinnamon. Very tasty. Potato Salad. no, no and no, I should have asked because we don’t care for sweet potato salad and it is. Mac and Cheese is my weakness and this lacks in flavor, but was palatable. Huge glass of unsweetened tea, but out of sweet n low. I keep it in the car so my hubby was fine. Overall, don’t need to return as a craving. People were extremely nice… We ended up ordering a brisket sandwich to go and separated from bun to eat later and a quarter pound of moist brisket to take home. Also ordered the red beans which we found out were pinto beans and savoy and they smell delicious. The counter staff are all so very friendly so it did make the experience worth the stop.

This BBQ is EXACTLY like the BBQ I was raised eating. The marbled brisket, ribs, the sausage, and even the sauce, all tasted like what my family cooked when I was growing up. The potato salad is spot on — not too much mustard, not too much mayo, just perfect. I don’t normally eat ribs(because I’m picky) and I tore these ribs up! I live in the Austin area now, and can confirm that the famous BBQ joints here that have lines running out of the door just can’t compete with Fargo’s. I’m counting down the days until my next visit back home to Bryan for some REALBBQ at Fargo’s.

I’m not sure if I went at a bad time of the day or if I simply ordered the wrong thing, but I felt that my meal was average. I got the sausage, the macaroni and the green beans. I will say the green beans, barbecue sauce and bread were phenomenal, but the sausage seemed a little dry and the macaroni was okay. Next time I’ll try the brisket and ribs because those did look really good! I’ll just have to give them another try another day.

We stopped by this place while driving from Houston to Dallas. It is about 1.5 miles off highway 6. Let me tell you, I walked through fire to this place had I known how good the food was. My wife and I each got a pulled pork sandwich and split three small sides. We chose the greens, potato salad and baked beans. I am a self proclaimed barbecue connoisseur and this is in the top two places that I have ever been. The bbq was on point and the sauce had a great flavor without being overly sweet. I typically hate potato salad but I would go back just to eat the potato salad! The greens were excellent but the pièce de résistance for me was the baked beans. I have absolutely never had better. I couldn’t place all of the flavored but it almost tasted like it had cinnamon and pumpkin. Do not go there without trying the beans!

I’ve eaten here several times, but I stopped going because they just weren’t meetin g my expectations. I always ask for brisket from the marble side, and each time I received burnt meat.

Love this place. Fargo’s is on a short list of authentic, real-deal BBQ joints that has that special«magic» you just can’t replicate. On our visit, the obviously passionate owner was walking up and down the massive line of eager eaters, personally shaking each customers hand, cracking jokes, and taking orders. Don’t be afraid to ask for a meal recommendation from this master. He knows the menu better than anyone and he’s passionate about sharing it with you. In the end, the BBQ was amazing, which was no surprise. I got a sandwich that blew me away. Some of the best I’ve ever had, and the fact that it’s such an awesome family business just makes it that much cooler. A must stop for legit Texas BBQ.

Best Barbeque I’ve had in a log time and the best in Bryan/College Station for sure! I had the chopped brisket sandwich with collard green and red beans! Soooo good! The service was also friendly, the guy even recognized me from the gym!

Top notch BBQ! The ribs are crispy and moist, and the Brisket falls apart with goodness. Schedule at least a one hour nap afterwards.

Marbled brisket is amazing. The sausage is pretty good but not the greatest. Mac and cheese is real GOOD. The potato salad is meh. I hear the rip tips are a must but they only serve them two days a week.

From the first time I tried Fargo’s I have been hooked. My first experience was the rib tips. I worked on University Drive at the time and I ate most of the pint between Hwy 21 and there. Since then I have converted many friends and co-workers. My wife loves their ribs and greens. My two boys are rib and brisket fans. My favorite day to go is Thursday for pork chop day. One fried, one grilled. With mac & cheese and green beans with new potatoes. Just like grandmom used to make! I continue to be a loyal customer.

Having lived here for the better part of 32 years, I’ve tasted all the BBQ the towns have offered through the years and yes indeed this is probably the best. I got a half-pound of ribs and a half-pound of marbled brisket and an 8-oz side and drink and yes $ 20 was too much to spend for lunch but I could have taken some home or even shared it, but no… I ate it all.

The food was pretty good and the peach cobbler to die for. When this was written up as one of the Top 10BBQ joints in Texas, I was sure that I was going to be blown away. I wasn’t. It was good, but I thought it was average. The prices were good and the staff was nice, but the seating is a problem and the sauce, as mentioned on another review, isn’t anything special.

Found this place using Unilocal.Went in on a Saturday morning and was greeted warmly by the owner. My boyfriend and I both chose lean brisket and it was really good. The only thing I would suggest and hope for is more variety in their sides. Maybe some mashed potatoes or Mac n cheese? Other than that it was great first experience.

This place is awesome, great price for delicious BBQ for Bryan. The ribs and collard greens(when available) are my top two favorite orders. The brisket, sausage, and chicken are also quite tasty. No need to order extra bread, as an order typically gets two slices which is plenty. The beans have a lot of cinnamon on them, which is unique. I wasn’t a huge fan of that flavor, so I’ll just get extra collard greens next time :)

While setting up our tailgate we asked around about the best brisket in town. We were informed by the locals to check this place out. THANKGOD we asked because this food was a gift directly from heaven. We got there around 11:30am and it was the perfect time, they’re pretty much busy all the time. There were 5 of us and we ordered the family combo: 1 lb pork ribs, 1 lb beef brisket, 1lb sausage, 1 whole chicken, a loaf of white bread, baked beans, potato salad and we added on the seafood pasta salad. We ordered the combo as to try everything they sell. We love BBQ, I’m from Eastern N.C. and I used to work at a BBQ joint. Having said that this was the best brisket I have every had in my life, it melts in your mouth! The ribs were great too! The sausage and chicken weren’t anything too special but the meat was smoked perfectly. They have a great tangy red BBQ sauce but none of the meat needed it except the chicken. This is worth the drive and a MUST try! This meal made the WHOLE trip from S.C.

Delicious!!! Will definitely travel to come back and recommend to others. Beautiful smoke ring, tender, and juicy brisket. Flavorful and juicy sausage. Ribs were the best part. Tender, juicy, falling off the bone. Don’t need a lot of sauce or anything to dress it up. They were great!

The ribs are the best in the menu. Everything is good, but the ribs are the best by far. Alan, the owner, is kind, fun, and an incredibly hard worker. He’ll do whatever it takes to make his customers happy and ensure they’re comfortable. I’m from out of town, but I’ll be back here at some point and I’ll be eating here. If only to say Hi to Alan and get a rib!

Everyone said you’d place is one of the best in Texas… I disagree. Was it good, yes, but only for this small part of Texas. BBQ sauce was average and basically tasted like a Stubs knock off. Well done meat, but I’ve you have real good BBQ, this feels blah. You want some friggin good BBQ… Hit up City Market in Luling, Texas! They run out of meat fast everyday! Expect a long line if you don’t get there early. Amazing mustard based BBQ sauce you will want to take home!

Everything(brisket, ribs, sausage, pinto beans, baked beans, potato salad, chicken) had great flavor; the only thing I didn’t care for was the collard greens. Alan was great, big friendly personality – seems like a great guy – appreciate of our business

When you go to a place ten years later and the food is as good or better, it’s time to let the world know about it. If you like good down home SMOKED barbecue that is finger licking good, this is the place to go. It’s the kind that you have to leave to the experts and Fargo’s has barbecue down to a science. First of all, when you pull up and open your car door, you are warmly welcomed by the sensational aroma of real pit smoke. Follow your nose to the inside to be greeted by friendly staff. Since I couldn’t make up my mind, and any good food blogger will try everything, I ordered the family pack(1lb each of ribs, brisket and sausage, a whole chicken, sides, bread, pickles and onions)! Only $ 65. Fed 6 with plenty left over. All of the meat is loaded with flavor and perfectly smoked, juicy and tender. The rub they use is a well balanced blend of spices that is not too salty and not overly spicy. The sauce is delicious and is a perfect marriage with the meat. They compliment each other. You can get it by the jar at the storefront or at the local HEB. The baked beans… oh my goodness the baked beans are delicious. They bring back memories of southern delights that we enjoy around the holidays… you MUST try these beans! They pair perfectly with the cool potato salad. We finished our meal with some pound cake that tastes like someone’s grandma from the deep southern country made it! It’s buttery and the almond flavor is just right and it melts in your mouth. It’s so freakin good! And don’t forget to get some peach cobbler. It very good. Lots of sweet crust and tender peaches with just the right amount cinnamon. Best of all, I enjoyed conversing with the the co-owner. She’s passionate about food and knowledgable about business. You’ve gotta try this place out. I think Guy Fieri needs to take a trip here. He’d love that juicy sausage! Enjoy folks!

Came here after scouting restaurant’s on Unilocal. Our big group of 8 arrived around 6:30, thirty minutes prior to closing and they only had brisket and sausage. I ordered a half pound of brisket a small potato salad and lemonade. Everyone was super nice and I got to chat with the owner for a few minutes. He was very happy our group was there. I sent some people from my class to Fargo’s the next night for dinner and they raved about it also.

Been living in Aggieland for 7 years and finally got a couple guys together to get some Fargo’s BBQ. Hands down the best BBQ in BCS and maybe the best BBQ in Texas. I have been to many BBQ pits around Texas and this place is no joke. I ordered ½ lb of ribs, ½ lb of brisket and a half chicken. The ribs and brisket were the best I’ve ever had. I don’t normally order chicken, but apparently Fargo’s is well known for their chicken so I ordered it just to try and it was fantastic. Their sauce was good but their are some better sauces out their. Helpful pointers: on Saturday they open at 11 and close when food runs out so get there before 2 because they will likely be out of some stuff.

It almost pains me to give this place three stars but I don’t think it met my expectations this time. Which stinks because I went out of the way to try it. Compared to the big boys in Austin and on the way to Austin this is just alright. If you compare it to almost anywhere else it was really good to great depending on the meat. My order was ½ lb lean, ½ lb moist brisket ½ lb rib and ¼ lb sausage. Moist Brisket 3.5 out of 5 — It was good but not great. Just seem to be missing that something to push it over the edge. Lean Brisket 2.0 out of 5 — had decent flavor but was a tad dry and lacked decent bark. Rib 5.0 out 5 — These were some of the best ribs I have ever had. Cooked to perfection. Juicy, Smokey, Tasty… yum Sausage 2.5 out 5 Not sure if they make it in house or not. It was just run of the mill for me. Side — Baked Beans — 4.5 out 5 — I will say these might not be for everyone. The second I popped the lid I could smell the cinnamon. These had a strong taste of cinnamon. Which I will incorporate into my beans the next time. Overall this is a really good bbq joint but just didn’t meet expectations, especially when you go out of your way to eat there. Hopefully one day I will be in the area and get to give this another shot.

We took a friend to an Aggie game as a retirement gift. Since it was an early game, that left us all afternoon to eat some great food. Not being a local to Bryan/College Station, I had asked an Aggie friend where we should eat. He recommended Fargo BBQ, and said that it was ranked in the top 10 in the Texas Monthly rating. He also said we had to try the rib tips as they were awesome. Top 10 list and an awesome reccommdation sold us. As soon as the game was over, we raced for Fargo BBQ, which was not too far away. Upon arrival, we found the parking lot full. This was both a good and bad thing. We quickly got in the long line that snaked it’s way toward the front entrance. When we finally got to the front of the line to order, we heard the help talking about running out of food. I stepped up and was greeted by a friendly young lady. She asked what I would like, and I blurted out — rib tips. She said they sold the last ones to the group in front of us. What??? They only sell them on Tuesday & Saturday, & this was Saturday!!! I told her that we had driven all the way just for rib tips, and she said she was sorry. They still had other ‘Que, so I ordered the trinity — brisket(moist), sausage, and ribs. The order came with bread, pickles, and onions. No tables were open, so we ate outside. While we were eating, the help started hanging signs on the door. They had run out of everything! So how was it? It was good, but my judgement may have been hindered by my disappointment in not getting to try the rib tips. I can’t rate this place in the top 10, but I was glad to have the chance to eat here. It was good — just not a «5». Would I go back? Yes, if I am back in the area, but would not make a special trip. I’ll save those long drives for my favorites.
