We’ve eaten here many times. Food has always been good as well as the service. However this time we stood and waited for approximately 5 mins or a little longer and was looked at by 3 different servers and one walked directly in front of us and not once acknowledged… I under stand they were busy but it’s take no effort to say good morning we will be with you shortly. Good customer service creates customer loyalty.

Not much to look at. The décor was strange. It used to be a pizza parlor and the old fittings had not been removed. Big breakfast was good and cheap. Eggs cooked perfectly. The hash browns were great. Sawmill gravy great also. They were out of pancakes. I would come again for breakfast.

Great place to get breakfast or lunch one of the best, it’s a must everytime we re in town. And the bacon is some of the best we have ever had!

This place used to be my favorite place to eat in town. We ate there several times a week until we moved out of state. Today we were in town working so we stopped in the middle of a job and hurried over to our favorite place. It was 1:40 when we got there and they refused to serve us because they were closed. Jimmy Mac’s has let us in at 9:30 pm when we were stuck working late and these people wouldn’t even stay open until 2 as the hours on their door promise. I don’t generally like getting my 2 year old out of her car seat just to put her right back in. She doesn’t enjoy it and neither do I. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Excellent food, reasonable prices and good friendly service. The vegetable beef soup was very good. TheBBQ sandwich also very good and the bacon cheeseburger was great. The ff’s were hot and fresh, the onion rings light hot and good… even the tossed salad was a cut above most. It is an unassuming place in a small strip center and open for breakfast and lunch but dinner only on weekends. Highly recommend this for a good lunch in Bryson City.

Great breakfast. I had an omelette with sausage, onions and peppers. My problem with this place is that the service was bad. The waitresses were nice but didn’t have awareness about when to ask if we needed more coffee or were ready for the check. Honestly, it wasn’t an excuse that they were really busy. It was an issue of awareness.

The Iron Skillet was really Great for Breakfast. The Skillet was super with eggs, grits, country ham, and toast with Coffee. I would recommend it over other Café’s

I was really hankering for good ‘ol fashioned biscuits and gravy and Iron Skillet really delivered. The regular biscuits-n-gravy breakfast comes with tons of food — 2 eggs, choice of bacon, sausage patty or sausage link, choice of grits or potatoes in addition to fluffy biscuits and amazing sausage gravy(I posted a photo). As Southerner will tell you, you can really judge a breakfast place by the quality of its biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were light and fluffy but a good size(but not too big) and the gravy was thick with big chunks of sausage with a lot of flavor and a zing of peppery-ness(but not spicy). My son got the hungry man breakfast which had even more food — the bacon was delicious — good balance of salt, smokiness and fat without being overly greasy. His french toast was delicious — crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Our waitress was wonderfully attentive with a lovely Southern drawl. She kept out coffee constantly filled. We highly recommend bus place for a leisurely breakfast/brunch.

On vacation, stopped in for breakfast one morning. The coffee was really good. I had the biscuits and gravy and the husband had a breakfast burrito. Both were good. The gravy was good, not runny, and tasted great. Service was good.

Great little spot for breakfast. Upbeat & friendly service. Huge selection of breakfast combos & plenty of good breakfast options. I had the Working Mans Breakfast, it was a feast. The biscuit was probably the best I’ve ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection. We visit once a year for Polar Express, this restaurant will definitely be a yearly treat as well.

Soooooooooo good. We were staying at the Nantahala Village cabins and asked about a good place to eat lunch or breakfast and the very helpful lady at the front desk recommended the iron skillet and the filling station. Both were amazing and they’re right next to each other. If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and have the biscuits and gravy or a biscuit sandwich at the iron skillet and then go to the filling station for a cuban later in the day and save room for a ice cream sandwich

My family was hungry right before the 4th of July fireworks in Bryson City so options were limited in what was open. We tried them out and I had a Patty Melt that was pretty good along with some fries. The food won’t blow your socks off, but not bad prices and the service was pretty good. I would recommend if your needing a diner kind of feel with local flavor. I would come back again.

Traveling from city to city on vacation we always look for the quirky little«ma and pop shops» to eat yummy meals, coffee, and desserts. We stumbled upon this little place. So glad we did. The breakfast was hearty and delicious. My mom is a vegetarian and she was easily able to make a vegetarian friendly plate full of sides. I got the«Working man» plate which consisted of a very large fluffy pancake, 2 thick and crispy strips of bacon, home fries, 2 scrambled eggs, and a piece of toast. Coffee was consistently fresh. It just happened to be our waitresses first day and first meal served. She was so very friendly and attentive. Needless to say, the experience was awesome. Two thumbs up. Oh, and they have some cute little local fundraising swag at the front you can buy. Always support local!

Very disappointed. Dinner salad was tasteless. Rib eye steak was bad. I may have food poisoning now. While I was hoping from the reviews that this could be a find, I strongly advise caution.

My boyfriend and I found this place after driving through the night to Nantahala Village«gorge» resort in Bryson, NC. The service was average, food was quite exceptional. I got the biscuits and gravy. Normally I don’t eat sausage ever(Literally) but I was delusional and had no sleep. Nevertheless it was quite tasty. Orange juiced we ordered were in a tiny lil plastic bottle we coy don’t open for like 5minutes which leads me to believe they sat for weeks or months. The price of our breakfast was just under $ 20 and I was pretty satisfied.

I found this on a review for the room we stayed in at Lloyd’s at the river and it was very yummy and inexpensive. The place was pretty full and the staff were very friendly. They played Christian music from Klove or Air one and the atmosphere is great.

Vacation lunching is always a risk. One often hasn’t planned the day and relies on chance encounters. We happened on The Iron Skillet with the in-laws. The outside betrays the quality awaiting inside. We all ordered various lunch platters, from patty melts and burgers to BLT and tomato soup. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their selections, with the burgers and patty melts winning the day. Everything was hot and fresh. The wait staff was very friendly and responsive. There was a positive atmosphere that is family friendly. It was an excellent lunch option, and would expect breakfast foods to be equally good. With few obvious alternative restaurant choices, The Iron Skillet was worth the risk and exceeded all expectations.

Our first morning in Bryson City. I checked Unilocal for breakfast places and saw that the Iron Skillet got some pretty good reviews, so we stopped in. It was later in the morning… around 10:30 on a Thursday morning. There weren’t many people there so we were seated right away. Our server was very friendly and efficient. I ordered the Western omelet and my husband ordered the steak and eggs. We were both very happy with our food. Everything came out quickly and cooked very well! Huge portions, too! The biscuits were light and fluffy! Loved it! We will definitely go back!
