Finally stopped by Athenian for their famously good breakfast burrito. Parking was tight as the place was packed, but I was able to get in and out relatively quickly. I got the bacon breakfast burrito. Flavor and proportions were definitely on point. The verde salsa served on the side is also much, much better than what is offered at other establishments. Note, they only accept cash and debit.

First of all I always judge a restaurant by the cleniness of its restroom. this place was pretty trashy. 2nd they have an old school outdated ATM withdrawal before u pay and charge u a $ 1.50 just to use debit. I recommend do not use the ATM setup they have here. its old and they will overcharge your card and possibly double. I had a horrible experience here. they have to update the ATM systems being so close to Knott’s berry farm and the outrageous prices they have on the menu. Food was average. Harrys café is better priced than this place. The people in charge here have no idea what they are doing. Hungry stomachs and wallets BEWARE !

Athenian Burgers #3 currently holds the title of the best breakfast burrito in all of Orange County, according to the OC Weekly. They have held this title since 2014 and have yet to be dethroned. This famous burrito even made it into ESPN’s Burrito Bracket — where 64 burritos throughout the entire nation were selected to compete for America’s best burrito. What separates this burrito from the rest of the pack? Well, geometry, flavor and balance. You will have the option of meatless, bacon, sausage, ham, or the only choice for the true gastronome: «The Suicide Burrito», which is a triple meat trifecta. Regardless of your meat preferences, strap in and prepare yourself to indulge in a perfectly melded cylinder of Mexican and American cultural fusion. The cooks here know one thing for sure and that is precision. Starting off with a deliciously griddled flour tortilla, they manage to create a silky layer of eggs with ham mixed throughout. They place that in-between a strata of bright orange cheddar cheese and the orange hued tortilla. Moving to the burrito’s core, a buttery mass of toasted yet delicate hash browns and an amalgam of meats are mixed and then placed appropriately in yellow butcher paper to protect you from the liquid gold that awaits during the last 2 bites of this journey. Beyond the burrito itself, what really sends this pick to the top of the charts is the sauce. There are two impeccable choices: Red or Green. One can’t go wrong with either choice. Slather it on for each bite. The sauce is simply that good.

It was really busy during the morning. They have ample amount of seatings but most of them were taken. I ordered the suicide burrito which came with sausage, bacon, ham, hash brown, and egg. The burrito was really salty because of the sausage. It costed 7.75 plus tax which was around 8.37. And if you want to get sauce such as ranch or salsa you have to pay additional .50. Honestly, the burrito tasted just okay. The tortilla was a little too soft for me. I couldn’t finish it. Their breakfast burrito isn’t my style. I’m just going to stick with my to go place, George’s in Fullerton.

I tried this place the first time last week with a friend of mine. By far the most amazing breakfast burritos I have found yet out here upon moving from LA and the orange bang was delicious. Wish the sour cream was in the burrito or at least offered to add instead of having to pay for a side of it after already paying for my meal. But still a good«hole in the wall place» for a burrito. I got the southwestern one and the size was just perfect for me.

Amazing breakfast burritos! We came here because they claimed to be the #1 breakfast burrito. I had the bacon breakfast burrito. I recommend getting the green spicy sauce. I found it to be a little bland without it. The burrito itself was smaller than I thought it would be… The hashbrown and bacon inside were pleasantly crispy. I was surprised! Usually the filling of burritos are soft. I ended up eating the whole burrito, which is pretty rare for me. Parking lot here is kinda small. It was full when I came here and I ended up parking in the lot next to it and walked over.

I crave the suicide burrito every time I haven’t had it in awhile. Hands down my favorite breakfast burrito in Orange County! I’ve gone here when it’s slow and when it’s busy and honestly, you never have to wait long for your order and it’s always fresh. I love how the suicide burrito isn’t messy and the tortilla and eggs hold all the breakfast goodness inside. Perfect for on the go. I know I just got one yesterday, but dang it, I’m getting another one today! You must try this place if you’re in the Buena Park area. Also, cash is king here so take out some money before you come! Enjoy!

Best breakfast burritos ever! That’s all I’ve ever had here and that’s likely all I’ll ever get. They’re reasonably priced and super filling. Staff is always friendly. Including the chef! I’ve forgotten to order my eggs over easy and the order taker moved onto another task away from the counter so I had to ask the cook and he said no problem, and smiled! Very friendly. I usually get bacon, eggs over easy and ask for extra hot sauce inside. And hot sauce on the side too. It’s soooo good. Super delicious. Oh and it comes in a reddish tortilla, though I’m not sure what flavor, if any, it is. If they only had a drive thru… sometimes I just don’t want to get out of the car because, well because I’m lazy I suppose. I highly recommend the breakfast burritos and the salsa. You won’t be disappointed!

1 star was immediately take away due to the fact that they only accept cash… I HATEDEALINGWITHCASH! Also they charged me $ 1.50 to withdraw from their«ATM». Another star was taken away because the lady who took my order was very rude when informing me that they take cash only. When I asked for her name she refused to give it to me. And the third and final star was taken because the burrito wasn’t that great. Yeah, it was good but when you make a claim that you have«OC’s number 1 breakfast burrito» I expected something much better then just good. I paid over $ 12 for one burrito(expecting a Monster) just to find out that its as small as a regular burrito. I’m not very happy about the fact that I came all this way from Yorba Linda just to be disappointed with my experience and my food. I would not EVER come back to this place!

Stopped by because they claim to have the best breakfast burrito in OC, but let me tell you it’s not. It’s average at best. The tortilla they use is good, but I’ve had way better breakfast burritos elsewhere. Wife orders ribeye & eggs, and they were nothing special. To top it off, they charge $ 1.50 to use a debit card. That’s ridiculous! Bring cash if you wanna come eat here. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, really.

Best breakfast burrito! i love how they line the tortilla with eggs, and then add in all the goodness inside. The tortillas are soft and the green sauce is a good complement to the meat-and-carb loaded burrito. My husband always gets the Suicide Burrito and I go a little less on the protein side with just eggs, cheese, and hash(delicious nonetheless).

I have to say they got the best breakfast burrito in town. I’ve always passed by this place but never thought it’d be a Mexican joint with a name like Athenian. I ordered the sausage and machaca burrito. It was def a hefty breakfast and was well worth trying! Workers are friendly and will most def be back to try other things out.

Love this place Breakfast burritos are the best I’ve had anywhere near this area. Bacon Cheeseburgers are delicious as well. Bring cash or ATM card

I really feel that to this day, the suicide burrito that they offer here is one of the best breakfast burritos I have tried so far. Their other breakfast burritos are good as well but the suicide keeps me coming back. I would have to say that the place overall does look a little run down and the service could be a little better. What is a little more disappointing though is that for a well established place, they don’t accept credit cards. They have a little shady atm thing where you can withdraw That’s why I can’t rate this place any higher.

LOVELOVELOVE their suicide burrito! The burrito is totally out of my expectation! The balance of meat, hash brown and egg in side burrito are just perfect for me. I ordered my food to go, but this place has outside seating. I believe it would be nice if dine in. BTW, they only take cash. They have a small ATM device which would charge around US$ 1.50 service fee(maybe)

I had chile quiles con juevos, so good!!! It was like petting a dog poolside while soaking up the sun wearing a bikini made out of unicorn hairs. Go to this place if you want a good breakfast.

Prior to leaving California I was taken to this wonderful spot by this wonderful friend that frequents this place almost on a daily basis. And he highly recommended that I try the Chilaquiles that he gets every morning before going to work. So I did, I ordered the Red Salsa Chilaquiles,(you can also order the Green Salsa… but, the Red Salsa is much spicier), and these people serve you a BIG serving. I guess that they don’t want to leave hungry! LOL! The dish was freshly made, and the flavor was delicious. Whenever I return to California to visit my friend, this spot will be on top of my list visit again. I highly recommend this spot. It’s not big on looks… but, it’s BIG on flavor!!! :)

They charge $ 6.20 for a breakfast burrito and then they charge $.50 for eggs so truly a BB after tax is more than $ 7 then after paying all that they charge .25 for a single extra hot sauce after you get 2 with the burrito. It’s crazy what they charge. The burritos are good but to charge your patrons for an extra hot sauce. Give me a break.

Cute little joint. We went here for breakfast this morning as Mrs. noticed that the place was rated very high on Unilocal. I ordered a Suicide breakfast burrito(Bacon, Ham & Sausage), Horchata and the Mrs. ordered an egg cheese and hashbrown breakfast burrito. Total came to $ 17.65 including tax. Pros: 1) Very affectionate and friendly employees(+1) 2) Mrs. said that the food had flavor. 3) Horchata was very good. Cons: 1) Limited seating, and parking in their lot. There was a war to pounce on available open seats(–1) 2) Portion was not adequate for me. There was nothing special about the Suicide breakfast burrito.(–1) 3) Only one sauce was available today. Their green sauce(–1)

«Best breakfast burritos in OC.» Pretty bold statement! But I guess it’s pretty common, what with all the«best coffee in NYC» type of things across the country. I wouldn’t say it’s the BEST but it’s comparable to other breakfast burritos I’ve had. I think it had a nice balance of stuffing so that one ingredient didn’t overpower the others.(Saying this from the one bite I had from the bf’s burrito). As for me, I got the french toast plate with a side of hash browns and it was A-OK. Very filling! And relatively inexpensive.
