I had dinner with friends here on a Saturday night. The food was excellent! I had the Mediterranean pasta with shrimp and it was nice and light with plenty of artichokes, grape tomatoes, garlic, and kalamata olives. It came with soup or a salad and I had a salad. I would definitely recommend this place if you like authentic greek food beyond typical souvlaki and spanakopita.

This is first(and hopefully last) 1 star review. I was here with a friend for brunch this past weekend and our experience was just awful. For starters, My friend ordered coffee and when it came out, it had a hair in it. When she told the server, the server just kind of shrugged, took it away, and brought her a new cup of coffee without saying anything. Then when it was time to order, she just came over and stared at us. It was kind of awkward lol. I ordered French toast and my friend ordered eggs, toast, and home fries. When we got our food, my friend noticed that the eggs weren’t cooked. I know a lot of people like them with the yolk runny, but the white part wasn’t even cooked. My French toast was the worst French toast ever and it was $ 10. It was mushy and tasteless. The menu said something along the lines of powdered sugar and whipped butter. You can see in the picture I posted that neither of those were present on the plate. Neither of us ended up eating our food and went over to Spot Coffee instead for some delicious Mike sandwiches. Can’t go wrong with that! I was really surprised that the food at Acropolis was so bad since there are Greek restaurants all over town. I don’t know how they stay open. Needless to say, I’ll never dine at Acropolis again.

They accommodated 4 of us last minute on New Years Eve with an 8:00 reservation. We sat downstairs by the front window at a very spacious table. Everything was fabulous! Brian was our server; he has a fun personality, and was very nice. All of our cocktails, appetizers, & entrees were great! We will definitely be back.

Absolutely love this place! My boyfriend and I come at least once every two weeks. I usually order the Chicken Souvlaki plate that comes with a generous amount of Greek salad and chicken as well as the yummy Greek potatoes! My boyfriend gets the NY Ruben and it is delicious! As far as prices go you get what you pay for. Lots of food and great service. Shout out to Randi who has serves us, always on top of her tables and provides us with great service. Give this place a try!

Went for brunch. The food was overpriced and mediocre, the staff was not friendly and we had to wait a long time for our food. The music was so loud you could not hear anyone talking from across the table. Will not be back.

I LOVE Greek food. Acropolis has some of the best. Elmwood is a great little village full of restaurants that deserve more credit, Acropolis is one of them. I went for the first time during the last restaurant week, which is coming up by the way. I ordered the soup, of which I can’t think of the name, and I wasn’t even able to pronounce it anyway when I went. But its rice and chicken and veggies all thrown together into a delicious mix that I recommend ANYONE to order as an appetizer. It was cheaply priced and well worth the few dollars. For dinner I ordered one of the restaurant week specials, which was a steak dish with some sort of pesto sauce. It was AWESOME, and I am not a huge red meat fan. I went again to Acropolis for lunch the day before my best friend got married after we went to the salon for pedicures. This was my second time, and the second time I was seated upstairs. The food was good, but one thing that was also consistent was the poor service. If you go, make sure you are seated downstairs. I think that customers get forgotten about when they are upstairs, or at least that’s what seemed to happen both times I was there. The waitresses barely came around, and I think we waited over 10 minutes just to be greeted after we sat. So, to conclude, I would say HELLYEAH to the food, but the wait staff needs hella help.

Really good mimosas for brunch. Plus they offer their full menu at the bar which is great for when you’re dining alone or with one person. All of the servers have been attentive as possible, even during their busy Sunday Brunch hour.

Acropolis is quite a refreshing experience. The place is perfectly situated in the heart of Elmwood, the atmosphere is quite jive and fun, the staff is extremely kind and friendly and to my surprise this place turns into quite the hang out place late nights on weekends. I walked in here with a friend who was visiting from Rochester. She was craving Mediterranean and I hadn’t been here either so we picked Acropolis. The waitress was very upbeat(which I always appreciate because it carries over to my food experience). We ordered a bunch of items to share since we were both vegetarians and figured that way we could a mouthful of various items. The service was efficient and our waitress did a fantastic job of checking on us at the right times to make sure we had everything we needed. I mean I’m talking really good timing — not too soon that we didn’t know what else we needed to add and not too late that we were done eating our meals. The food itself is really tasty. Sure I can say that it felt a little commercialized, the taste, but it was delicious nonetheless. Thank you Acropolis for a wonderful experience! PS — I have yet to come in here late night on a weekend to get the full experience.

Came for a friend’s birthday dinner. It was nice to be seated on the outdoor patio since the weather was so nice. The night was a mix of ups and downs. Here is the break down: Ups: Server was nice, very attentive. Made sure she got drink orders for each person as they sat down. She was able to do separate checks for the party of 10 and all of them were correct! No one had to ask for a correction or anything. They have a wide selection of various beers and wines, all of which were very good. Downs: The hostess who seated us, later came back and asked if we still needed 2 chairs while we were waiting for the rest of the party to arrive. After we said yes, received a dirty look from her(not cool, you know how many people are in the party, we don’t hold onto chairs for fun). Food for 2 people in our group came out at least 10 minutes after everyone else’s. We all shared until their food came but most places serve everyone at the same time. I ordered the chicken portabello flatbread which sounded good on paper but ended up being salty and slightly burnt on the bottom. Probably wouldn’t come back for food, but it’s a nice place to enjoy the weather and some drinks

I visited with a friend on Sunday at brunch time. We’d wanted to go to Sophia’s on Military Rd, but they were closed for the 4th of July weekend. We opted for Acropolis instead. My friend and I got there right before the big brunch rush at noon and assumed we’d been lucky with our patio seat. Not the case. Our server was nowhere to be seen for at least 5 minutes after arrival. When she’d finally taken our drink order, a coffee and two mimosas, it took another 5 minutes for the drinks to arrive. I understand places get busy, but some things are inexcusable. When she finally took down our orders it took ages for our food to arrive. I watched her bring plates to other tables and every time there was a complaint or something missing. With that being said, I wasn’t surprised when my food arrived with bacon instead of the sausage I ordered. She proceeded to blame the cooks for the mistake stating they«must be messing» with her. Not cool. Even if this had been the cooks’ error, she took down the order and should have checked before bringing the food out. Based on all the other errors at her other tables, I doubt it was the cook’s mistake at all. After dropping off our food, I had to make her aware I needed more coffee. She went off to fix the lack of sausage mistake and forgot to bring me more coffee upon returning. Said she would bring it a second time and promptly disappeared for another 5 minutes until I had to flag her down for my refill as she greeted a new table. Not. Cool. The check was yet another 5 minute wait to flag her down to ask for it. At this point, you can imagine my lack of enthusiasm for this place due to the poor service. The food was just«meh» as well. I’ll stick with Sophia’s from now on.

Came here on Saturday for lunch and I know I won’t come back. I was here with a party of 6 people and from the beginning we didn’t feel welcome and felt like we were inconveniencing the waitress. We all ordered a mix of brunch and lunch food. We also all got mimosas or bloody marys. It took about 10 minutes for the first drinks to come out. It took over an hour for the food to come out and the waitress rarely checked to see if our drinks could be refilled. I even ordered 2 mimosas at one time because I knew she would never come back. The food was blah. I ordered a honey chicken salad sandwich and that’s all I got. No fries, no side salad, just the sandwich. I was disappointed and left hungry. Everyone else said the same about the food. A friend had pancakes that he said were cold and told the waitress that but she didn’t care or offer to replace them. Another friend had french toast and said they were very bland. With the bad service and worse food, I won’t be back.

If you just rented a new house and you ride horses, then you might have only 2 things in your possession.(a) A Crop.(b) A Lease. The concept of only owning these 2 items inspired this restaurant name. A Crop, A Lease. Actually it’s named after a famous monument in Athens. Speaking of famous monuments, check this out.(pulls down pants) Acropolis was one of my least favourite Greek-American experiences in town. It would score a 2⁄5 except for one thing. First of all, it’s really a loud bar more than it is a restaurant, especially at nights. And their focus is clearly on getting people good and drunk because in my opinion the food sucks. They score 1 extra star for being family-owned and 1 extra star for having a huge crowd watching the USA v Mexico game(which the US won), as I’m a huge soccer(football) fan, and I always like to see places catering to the global game in such a way. On the phone, they were less than friendly, it was hard for them to hear my order, and they didn’t seem thrilled about making my food close to kitchen-closing time, so I skipped it until another day. On that other day, they told me the open Chicken Sovlaki was under $ 10, and I ordered it accordingly. When I arrived, oops, it’s actually over $ 12. Over $ 12 is a very lofty price for a small OCS, and it was indeed small. I paid reluctantly, and muttering about the service, wandered back to my car to eat it. Honestly I wouldn’t have paid 12 cents for this Souvlaki. The chicken was dry, lukewarm, lacking marinade, and most worryingly, there was hardly any of it. Although it was so unappetizing that I suppose the lack of it was a good thing. The salad was meh… not enough of it and trying a bit too hard. The Greek Oil and dressing were fine. They did not give me a fork with my food. Luckily I had some napkins and silverware in the car. All in all, this is one of the least impressive Greek experiences I’ve had in town. Pano’s and Zoe’s and Acropolis can all hang out and chat about how they flog overpriced bad Greek food to the masses and laugh. Meanwhile I’ll go to Mythos(nearly next door) with excellent Souvlaki), or better yet, if it’s between 7am and 3pm, head over to Nick’s on Amherst for the best and biggest one in town for $ 9 after tax, or to Taki’s downtown for a delicious one with a slightly smaller portion. Late night, I’ll go to Towne every time. Similar high prices but 10 times as tasty and twice the size.

Went for dinner with a few friends. We were seated upstairs in this room hidden from everyone else in the restaurant — not a fan. Very awkward space… I ordered a flat bread and it was just okay. In retrospect a flatbread probably should have been ordered for an appetizer to split. The service and wait staff is excellent. I just wasn’t thrilled with the dinner food. Perhaps it is better to go and check it out for brunch. I would definitely return for a drink outside on the patio during the summer.

Came here yesterday with my two pals. My gal Pal and I ordered a pamplemousse cocktail to start and they were indeed very grapefruit-y and had a good amount of vodka in them. Not terrible for $ 7 but could have been a larger glass, they were just in small tumblers. Then we each got a vegetarian sampler platter and these were totally adequate– nothing mind blowing, but the falafels had a lovely crispy texture. Grape leaves were a bit bland, though as was the tzatziki. Service was lovely the waitress was sweet and called us «Hun» which, when coming from a woman my age often annoys me, with her it was fine. They had a huge menu and I heard their egg and cheese croissant was pretty good.

It’s…adequate? When I first saw that it was roughly a 3.5 stars overall, I thought — yep. That’s about right. It’s right around the corner so this isn’t based on just one review. Selfishly, the location is great and convenient. The food has never been bad, and price-wise they are a tick below what I expect in the Elmwood Village. When I think about all of our visits there, the service was much, much, much better before the renovations and expansion. There is slowly becoming a vibe of pretentiousness about Acropolis which makes me sad. It used to have a homey, comfy vibe. Now it feels like it doesn’t know what it wants to be. Sports bar, trendy bar/lounge, greek restaurant.

I hate giving Acropolis a two star rating because their food is always 4 – 5 star quality, but in my experience, they have to receive a low score. If you look at my other reviews, and even other posts on my local Buffalo blog Vegetarian Buffalo, I give restaurants and servers a lot of leeway when it comes to busy serving times. Every time I go to Acropolis I’m playing Russian Roulette with my time. Will we be seated in less than 20 minutes? Will we get our drinks within 10 minutes of being sat? Will we even get our food before I have to feed the parking meter again? This is true, once I actually had to return and feed the meter another quarter on top of our hour and a half parking because we still hadn’t received our food. And it wasn’t like we were asking the server to come back because my table of two couldn’t make up our mind to order. We’d been to Acropolis a dozen times and knew exactly what we wanted before she even came to get our drink order, it just took over 10 minutes for her to come get our orders, 15 minutes to get our drinks, and 45 minutes to get the food. That’s 100% unexceptable, and while that was a particularly long wait, my other visits have been close to that same time frame. Don’t get me wrong, the servers are never rude(well, one time a bar tender was), they just haven’t had good management or the right training/discipline to run the front of the house very well. So they’ll make you wait forever, but they’ll be pleasant about it. Since I’ve been there several times they’ve obviously been doing something right: Their food is amazing! Without a doubt, 100%, some of the best food you’ll ever eat. The Hummus is out of this world, they have dozens of vegetarian dishes that are so flavorful you’ll be craving more for weeks to come. For more about the outstanding food reviews and pictures, check out Vegetarian Buffalo’s review of Acropolis: The atmosphere is very trendy, it’s great for meeting friends and chilling out. If you can make it to Acropolis to eat or get drinks at some obscure time, it seems to work out really well. The drinks are great and the food is excellent. Just don’t hold high hopes they’ll respect your time.

I hate to love the A-Crop. The food is great, the ambiance is delightful, the place is really classy. But crappy people go here. It’s not a-crops fault, it’s people like my friends who taught me the phrase«a-crop.» It’s me on a Sunday-funday morning. It can be obnoxious. Get the humus before you leave, or just get some to take home. Bath in it if you want. It’s really good. Bar selection morning, noon, and night is great. A lot of the staff seems to have RBF(resting b*tch face) but they are super kind and accommodating.

Weak four star rating, but the vibe here really called for the 4 stars instead of 3. Dined here for brunch and the wait for three was about 20 minutes. We decided to hang outside and wait because the bar area was pretty packed with soccer fans. After about 20 minutes, I stepped inside to make sure the hostess hadn’t called our name while we were outside. She hadn’t and assured us we would be called to a table within moments. As I turned around from the hostess stand I banged my head on this wall décor placed in a totally dangerous spot! Ouch. We were led upstairs and seated at a table over the staircase. I felt like I was in a loft apartment with tables and a television, it was pretty cool. The beer menu had lots of delicious options. We ordered the hummus to start and they had whole wheat pita, hooray! I love whole wheat pita. You just feel so much less guilty indulging. The small portion of hummus and VERY small portion of pita came out soon after ordering. There were cucumbers and tomatoes on the side of the hummus for dipping. The cucumbers tasted really bad. I’ll tell you why. There’s a thing about red peppers. Red peppers from Canada are known to have a sort of mothball flavor as time goes on because of the chemicals used. Gross I know, but it’s the truth. Google it. These cucumbers had that sort of taste so they must have been close to these red peppers. Nobody else in my party noticed it, but I did. They were bad. The hummus however was, STUPENDOUS. Better than STUPENDOUS actually, perhaps top 3 best hummus(es??) I have ever had, and that’s saying something because I love my hummus. It was so fresh and perfectly seasoned, there just wasn’t enough of it. Same thing for the pita. It had some delicious oregano spices baked on top but there were only six teeny triangles for the three of us. Our meals came out rapidly which was great. We got a grilled chicken mozzarella pesto and arugula flat bread, so delicious and very big! The chicken was cooked perfectly. Then we got two orders of the chicken souvlaki egg breakfast. I chose to substitute my home fries for fruit. Big mistake. The fruit given was two tiny pieces of honeydew which, similarly to the cucumber had an awfully strange taste. There was also a slice of watermelon and orange slice. Weird. I got egg whites and ate them in one bite. Not because I was starving, but because there were hardly any on the plate. The chicken was cooked well and seasoned nicely, not too much salt, my biggest peeve, so I was pleased. I thought the portion could have been bigger for the cost. The yogurt sauce was NOTGOOD. Tasted like straight sour cream. Without any sauce, the chicken needed something. Our plates were cleared by another server which was appreciated because when it was time to pay, our waitress was nowhere in sight. We were waiting for a while for her to come by and grab the bill. We were looking high and low and near and far but she was MIA. Finally I spotted her and kind of did the obnoxious but necessary, «Please come take our bill so we can go about our Sunday» stare down. It was $ 51 for the three of us. A little pricey with waters all around. As I mentioned before, the final game of the World Cup was on so there was a big crowd. I loved the vibe of the place. The upstairs was so casual. People were hanging, chit chatting about the game from table to table, it was nice. I would come back for a double order of hummus and beers. Almost forgot, only one unisex bathroom upstairs. I don’t like that…

I came here for lunch at the bar with a friend. I have the spinach artichoke flatbread and it was great but $ 12 not $ 6 unless they give me the wrong thing that I ordered. They have tons of vegetarian options and I’m sure they could accommodate vegan as well. Not sure about gluten free, you’ll have to ask. They have 4 big screen tv’s if you’re interested in checking out the world cup game, etc.

Great place for dinner. It has a very streamlined and contemporary Greek menu. I didn’t know what to get so I just ordered the chicken souvlaki dinner… and I’m glad I did! Juicy, warm chunks of marinated chicken on a bed of fresh lettuce. Came with a side of rice which was a little boring. However, the side of Greek potatoes were scrumptious! They were buttery and melted in my mouth. They looked a little boring though. I wish the hostess had sat us in the formal dining room upstairs instead of the bar area, as it was a little noisy. Service was at par. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the men’s bathroom.(visited at around 5:30pm)
