Buffalo Lighthouse

Really cool park and lighthouse within the coast guard station. We ride bike down here and this was the first time we saw it was open. Holiday weekend I guess.
Sign posted did say future admission would be a dollar so it looks like it will be open to the public more often.
having never been in this park before, after we left we felt like we were out of town sightseeing.

Wow. What a great opportunity. For one more day the lighthouse will be offering tours. If you can, come and see it Aug 10. After that the lens comes back or something and no more tours will be offered all the way to the top.
Not often open to the public is this lighthouse at the Outer Harbour. Behind the coast guard station. You can walk out towards the lighthouse other days as the land is leased from the coastguard for this. It’s a very nice walk and view of the Hatch and pier.
Come and take a nature walk just outside the coastguard station so you get a nice parking spot, but be sure to line up by 11:30 at the latest to be somewhere near the front of it. Event opens at 12. Gates opened at 11:30 to allow you to buy tickets for the tour. Basically the line moved forward a little and you signed a release and paid a «donation» of $ 5 for the lighthouse climb. When you get to the lighthouse be prepared to wait again. They allow 8 up at a time. It’s tight. Narrow. 50 steps up and then three ladders. All small spaces.
You can walk the grounds for free here though if you prefer not to climb the lighthouse.
Today there is a Chivettas BBQ happening as well. That costs $ 10 and gets you the BBQ with dessert and general picnic things. Not sure what that donation supports.
National lighthouse day is August 7. Just a little trivia for you.
