Very uncomfortable atmosphere, not welcoming at all. Stopped in to grab food on a Friday night and their kitchen was closed! Looking at other reviews that seems to be a common trend. Won’t try going there ever again.

This bar has it all! I was a little disappointed the kitchen wasn’t open after the Sabres game, but besides that, this place was very welcoming. The bartender was funny, energetic, and was very patient with us(as we were a party of 8 and looking for food). With that in mind, he directed us to a place who, he said, had good wings,(Gabriel’s Gate on Allen st.) and he was right! What a place! I’m definitely going to make room for food before the game, because the Irish Times seems exclusive for food before the game. Sorta a…“Get it while you can” vibe… I dig that. I’d give it a shot!

Yes! This is that get-away place for lunch that I had been looking for. Sometimes I like to leave the office for lunch but I end up in the same places as the other office escapees and it just doesn’t feel like a break. This place is like a stop home — if you grew up in a rust belt city with semi-divey corner bars serving the locals to the tunes of classic rock in a dimly lit environment. Yes, this is where I can take a real break. The menu is your typical pub fare: sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads and sides. However, as far as pub fare goes, the menu offers quite the selection. The house soup is the Irish Potato, and it is reason enough to stop in here for a little mid-day comfort. You’d expect a potato soup with corned beef to be super salty but it’s not. It’s creamy, well-balanced in flavor and, full of hearty chunks of potato. My pic here really doesn’t do it justice. I’ve been here twice and eaten at the bar both times. The service has been friendly and the vibe, laid back. They appear to have some good drink specials too.

We visited this place for drinks after a game. My boyfriend didn’t mind it– I had five dead bugs in my mixed drink… Well, those were the ones I noticed. I’m sure there was more protein than alcohol. To each their own I guess!

Good selection and the day I went, excellent staff. Very good place to go before an event and pretty good selection of drinks.

The place fits the bill for three important aspect of a standard Buffalo establishment(or more accurately, a South Buffalo establishment): Irishness, diveyness and Buffalo-ness. IRISHNESS: Smithwicks and Harp on tap, obligatory«Erin Go Branch» poster on the wall and punch holes in the bathroom door likely caused by an angry drunkard. DIVEYNESS: Drop ceilings tainted with years of cigarette smoke and spotted with orange water stains, worn out oak veeners lining the bar top, a one page laminated menu, cheap beer and punch holes in the bathroom door likely caused by an angry drunkard. BUFFALO-NESS: Mandatory Pat Lafontaine sports memorabilia plague on the wall, REALLYSOLIDCHICKENWINGS, Stanley Cup«Winners» sign on the wall that stops curiously at the year 1998 which was, coincidentally enough, the year before the 1999 Stanley Cup Finals which saw the phrase«NOGOALBRETTHULL» spray painted in all caps on McKinley Parkway for months and, of course, punch holes in the bathroom door likely caused by an angry drunkard. Back to those wings: not too shabby. Wouldn’t have expected such a deep fried treat from a bar like this. And with such close proximity to Coca-Cola Field, it looks to be a prime location to saturate one’s self with beer and wings before taking in a ball game. Lastly, if this bar weren’t «Buffalo enough», they one-upped the odds makers and added an autographed Perreault jersey that seems to have wear, tear and possible blood stains… Cool.

Good turkey dinner. Good place to go before an event. Good beer, and good food. Chilly and dark, but its part of the experience.

Awesome wings, good menu. If the kitchen was open more would i would go more. Beer price not bad for a downtown.

Our first trip to the US/Canadian border area and our friends took us to see the Sabres play and suggested the Irish Times before and after reading the reviews on here I wasn’t sure but as you can tell from the stars it was brilliant. From the time we walked in and smelt the fresh popcorn I knew I was in heaven. Ok if you are looking for refined go somewhere else but if you are looking for good honest food at a great price in a great atmosphere with cold beer and real characters you have found it. Our friends being locals did say the wings could have been crispier but they were great. The service we got was brilliant, a little eccentric but brilliant. And for me that is what I want in this type of place. I even became a Sabres fan that night– So when I get back to another game I will be back for dinner before hand. To the staff from that night thank you for helping start a great and memorable night.

The bar is great. Great service, great selection… has a nice Irish pub feel. However, I wouldn’t recommend grabbing a bite to eat. The other reviewers aren’t kidding, it’s pretty poor. Stop in for a Guinness, watch a game, gather with friends and don’t grab a menu.

One of my favorite spots! A must visit for me for over 20 years. Best Wings in town, beer is cold and reasonably priced. Convenient location for Bisons and Sabres games.

Poor service. Mediocre food. Waitress didn’t know the beer list and then spilled a beer on me. I won’t be back.

It’s a dive, to be sure. Yet I can’t help but love it! From the long bar, to the tap beer selection, to the gruff but efficient bartenders, to the reasonable drink prices … I just plain love it! The tables might not always be wiped off and the bartender may put your change right in a puddle of beer on the bar, but it’s all part of the charm. And no, I’m not being sarcastic. Stop in here for a pint before going to the Bison’s game — much cheaper than the beer in the ballpark!

Finally, an Irish Bar with not only real Irish people in it, but real Irish drinks, too! I can’t wait to go back! Super bummed that there were closed after the Bisons game on a Saturday night? Oh well. Will definitely be pre-gaming at this place during the hockey season!

Decent stop pre-arena. They have cold Guinness on tap, so that’s all that matters to me beforehand. Mac and cheese is made with canned nacho cheese, that’s why it’s $ 6. I don’t recommend it.
