As other reviews stated, it definitely has the local bar feel to it, dark with simple tables and chairs. I only work a block over but had never noticed this place before. Went for lunch because a friend wanted to check it out and they had fish fries. What I liked– the service was good and they weren’t too busy during the lunch hour. I also liked the variety of fish fries they offered. They had the traditional beer-battered but also a few baked varieties. Trying to be healthy, I got the baked topped with breadcrumbs, melted blue cheese crumbles and tomatoes. It came with fries and slaw and was about $ 13. I’ve had bigger fish fries for less than that price and ones that come with better fries than here, but I’d come back again to try another one of their baked fish fries, likely the Buffalo one(blue cheese and hot sauce, baked).

Won’t be coming back. While the server is the nicest lady(like your sweet aunt who chats a lot to everyone but you), the food was middle school cafeteria quality. Beef on weck was on a Walmart grade roll with beef that tasted like the Saran Wrap it was probably sitting under for hours. Burger that was advertised as 9oz(maybe when frozen) was more like 4oz. Both came with chips though I don’t believe that was advertised on the menu; we got an order of fries which were probably the best part of the meal but that wasn’t saying much. Stop in for a beer but don’t waste your money on their menu.

A fun local dive place that is reflective of the gritty history of Buffalo. I love places like this. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Nothing over the top special but would easily repeat if in the area.

Order the Cajun chicken salad and opt for the dressing they make because it was SOOOGOOD and extremely satisfying. I went straight for the bat seating and it’s a little cozy for a tall person. The staff was extremely friendly and would make conversation with each person coming in and out of the place, even if they were busy preparing food or drinks. I went by myself but I it never felt that way. It’s right next to the baseball field and bus depot so I’m probably going there again when I travel next.

Classic Buffalo bar. Great Wings, maybe the best in the city. Good place to meet up before hockey or baseball games. Prices are also amazing. Bob is a classic bartender with lots of stories and history of the Buffalo area. Hours can be flexible, based on what’s going on in the area. A must visit.

Brought a party of 14 in after a Bandits game and was met with a rude bartender who clearly didn’t want us there.

I’ve been here for lunch a few times, being that I work nearby. This is a great spot to grab a quicker sit down lunch. They have a big menu, with surprising a large list of different types of salads. I love their specials, and always seem to try to venture towards something new. Recently, I got the grilled chicken lemon salad, and it was delicious for somewhere that looks more like a beer joint than a salad place. The service is nice, just be sure to get here before the 12 lunch rush! Although, it is quite big, so seating doesn’t seem to be an issue. The one thing they could work on is the décor, just a little dated. I love the historical posters, photos, and such though!

An oldie but goodie downtown near the Coca-Cola field. The restaurant has been here forever and I can’t believe I’ve never ventured in. It has a very ‘old bar’ feel and is kinda dark, but the people are really nice and it gets a surprisingly huge lunch crowd. I’m a fan of the prices. Things are very reasonable. For $ 6.50, I got a full sandwich and a small bowl of soup. Even Panera doesn’t have that beat and this has the bonus of being a very mom and pop bar that you just want to spend your money at. I had the clam chowder soup along with a turkey panini on multi-grain that came with a side of cranberry mayo. The sandwich and soup was very solid for the price. The service was excellent despite them being very busy during the lunch hour. If you’ve never been to the Washington Square yet, check it out as a possible downtown lunch option!

came here on a wednesday night for a quick bite prior to boarding a bus at the terminal. friendly atmosophere, the service was friendly and the beers were cheap. not a fancy place, the food was decent and so were the beers. not a large menu for food or beers, but if you are looking for an informal pub for a quick bite, this is the place!(3 pints and 2 burgers for 27 bucks)

I needed to eat before boarding a bus home to Toronto and stumbled upon this place close to the terminal. It has the appearance of a neighbourhood pub. It’s nothing fancy to look at, but it is clean and comfortable. It seems like the locals/regulars have close relationships, whenever wandered in all the others would cheer and jump up and greet them. There were sporting events on all the TVs and the crowd seemed really into them. The menu is pretty standard pub fare. I just got some mac & cheese bites(15 or 20 pieced for $ 4.50) and mozzarella sticks(around $ 6 for 8). The food was tasty. The service was quick. It seems like the kind of place I would hang out if I lived in the area. I’ll stop in again some day.

Quiet bar on a Monday afternoon. Centrally located in the middle of downtown and close to important office buildings. $ 5 beers. Daily specials and a decently sized menu. I came on Monday before the bar exam for a drink so I didn’t get to try their food. But watching other people eat, their foods seem quite appetizing. At least their sandwiches smell amazing, and the french onion soup looked extremely cheesy! The bar is pretty gosh darn divey, but that’s pretty apparent judging from the outside. Slightly blue collar, but the people are pretty nice and welcoming.

Went to lunch here with some colleagues, because it is across the street from their office. Service was incredibly slow, even though the restaurant was nowhere near busy. After getting us drinks, the waitress took forever to take our order, we actually had to flag down a different waitress, who pulled our waitress out of the back room to take our order. We didn’t order anything fancy, french onion soup, crab melts and a chicken finger salad. After being in the restaurant for an hour, our food finally arrived. We immediately asked for boxes, since our lunch was over and we had to go back to work and eat our food at our desks. I will not be going back for lunch.

I really like this place. It is great for lunch as well as drinks after work or before an event downtown. This place is not flashy in any way. The staff is friendly and attentive. The prices are reasonable. And the food is good pub fare. There are always good specials available as well. If you like a «regular Joe» type bar that serves quality pub food with a friendly staff, this is a place you should try.

Another A+ on the downtown Buffalo lunch circuit. Service is adorably gruff. The salads are surprisingly imaginative, though you can’t go wrong with the traditional pub-grub menu. I may or may not have had a couple of beers with my lunch as well…

A mediocre experience. I came here for a quick lunch and I found the food to be lackluster and the service to be subpar. The waitresses and bartender were friendly, but the establishment itself was clearly understaffed. Little attention was paid to our party aside from our order being taken and our bill being delivered. The portions were lackluster. I ordered the beef on weck(see picture) and while the sandwich was decent, I have had better. Also they just threw on a pathetic portion of chips and a pickle as a side. I expected french fries or something more substantial. Also, our water tasted funny, which could just be the pipes leading into the restaurant or they don’t thoroughly rinse their cups enough(the water had an almost metallic or bleach taste). Bottom line: You could come here for a quick drink before a Sabres or Bisons game. But I wouldn’t come here for the food. The service was sub-par, but that wasn’t the fault of the wait staff.
