If you want the best seafood you’ve ever had… come here. This place is top notch. They are leaders in their industry. Tuna and salmon steaks were the BEST I’ve ever had. EVER. Period. The side accompaniments were THEBEST I’ve ever had. You have no idea what you’re missing until you try this place. Seriously. The wine was meh, but bourbon mixed drink was to die for. I can’t think of a place I’d rather go for clams and fish. TRYIT or live in your box.

First time visiting today for brunch. We had purchased a groupon that included two entrees and two drinks. I truly cannot say enough good things about our experience. We were seated immediately and service was perfect. Our server was there when we needed her but not obtrusive. We opted to add monkey bread to our brunch at an added cost and hours later I am so glad we did. I truly think I could live on that alone. If you haven’t had monkey bread before, it consists of large chunks of hot dough covered in a cinnamon sugar caramelized sauce. It’s just amazing. And Oshun does it right. For entrees we chose the fried clams and the oyster skillet. The oyster skillet was so good that it was painful to share even a bite with my husband. The fried egg, potatoes, gravy, peppers and oysters balanced each other perfectly. I could eat it again right now(and wish I could). The fried clams were hearty in size and tasty. The pepper jelly made them seem like they were in a Chinese«sweet and sour» sauce. But it worked. We definitely enjoyed our first meal at Oshun. Dreaming of another brunch!

oof. another blemish on buffalo’s culinary landscape, in a really wonderful location, no less. A true disappointment, indeed. 1– I’ve never been greeted and handed a menu at an EMPTYBAR by someone who is looking away from me the entire time. 2– my boyfriend had already warned me that the food was trying too hard, and after reading the menu, I could only think, WHY? I want rainbow trout but the way its being served. eh. 3– our purpose for this outing was to get oysters, because how do you mess up oysters? they’re raw, a product of the sea, of mother nature herself! but somehow, just. not good. 4– we ordered the catfish appetizer to share, which, despite being served on a bed of cabbage that was absolutely saturated with whatever dressing, was actually flavorless. It looked delicious in its golden breading! But… maybe they’ve never heard of salt. 5– Finally, even in this beautiful location, somehow, investing in a dimmer switch was deemed excessive for their budget. Bare lightbulbs(including edison bulbs) need to be diffused, or at least dimmed. I felt like I was at the dentist, except the dentist would never force feed me shitty oysters(i hope).

Came in for breakfast on a Saturday morning around 1120 and were able to get a table right away. Another 20 – 30 minutes you had to wait. Waiter with the dreads is always there and always great. The doughnuts were ridiculously good, being made fresh next to the oyster bar with coffee cake, frosting, bacon, and some other great things. Steak and eggs was good and cooked just right. Not a fan of the default to over easy eggs when no toast is offered as a side with the dish, most of the eggs go wasted on the plate. Home fries were overcooked and mushy. Clam skillet looked great on the other side of the table but I didn’t sample. Coffee was just fine and there was much attention paid by the bussers to fill waters. One waiter could be visibly seen eating and drinking all morning in the coffee station area, then blowing his nose, not washing his hands, and then grabbing a plate of doughnuts and delivering them to a table with his thumb on top of the plate. I hate to mention it but that is pretty unsanitary. Overall it was great, much better for breakfast than previous lunch trips.

I had a very nice evening at Oshun. The interior is very cool, a vintage type atmosphere. We had a few drinks before dinner. The bartender was very friendly and prompt. At dinner, we had a table by the Windows. It was very neat, people watching at dinner. I had the fresh oysters and they were amazing. Ice cold and fresh. I also had the scallops appetizer and it was very unique. Scallops over coconut rice with mint and popcorn. Sounds strange but the favors all went together perfectly. The food was very good. All in all, a very enjoyable evening.

In order of things that are disappointing with this place. 1) bartender Patrick. Absolutely zero sense of humor. Just saying, laugh a little. 2) oyster bar happy hour. Started at 9. Closed by 915. No Bueno 3) jerk wings. Blandest things I have ever tasted. When I told the server how disgusted I was with them, she only apologized yet still charged me. The good: our server was quite sweet.

I’ve been to Oshun twice for dinner and both experiences were very good. The restaurant is beautiful. I love the dim lighting and nautical décor. I would recommend arriving early and sitting at the bar for a drink or two before your meal. The bar is very pretty and they have a good selection of wine and beer. The restaurant is especially nice during the holiday season. The dining room and bar are decorated with holly, lights and a Christmas tree. The menu has a great variety of seafood. Oshun has a raw bar, fried oysters, steamers, crab legs, scallops, shrimp, The chefs are always coming up with innovative seafood entrees. The menu is constantly changing, depending on what seafood they have in house. They always have great specials of unique fish caught from all over the world. I am always impressed. In addition to seafood, the menu has a chicken and steak option. My most recent visit to Oshun was with a group of six for a birthday dinner. It went very well! My friend and I split two appetizers, one entrée and one dessert: 1. Bay Scallops– plancha seared, over coconut rice, popcorn and mint 2. Flank Fried oysters over Sriracha butter, napa carrot slaw & cilantro 3. Lake Victoria Perch– seared over broccoli potato salad, jumbo lump crab and roasted lemon maple butter 4. Freshly baked salted caramel pretzel cookies and a scoop of vanilla ice cream Everything was tasty! The scallops were my favorite dish, mainly because of the coconut rice. The popcorn was very different, but a nice touch. As much as I like the food, the desserts at Oshun always seem to be the highlight. The salted caramel cookies are unlike anything I’ve ever had before. They are baked perfectly. I have also tried the butterscotch custard and it is delicious! I would definitely recommend Oshun for a date night or celebratory dinner. The servers are very friendly and go out of their way to help celebrate special occasions. Our server, Leah, was so sweet! The prices are also pretty reasonable. Our entire table had drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts and we ended up paying $ 30 – 40 per person.

Lunch review only!!! The fiancé and I had a Living Social for here for lunch, so we finally checked it out. I’m not crazy about seafood, and can be pretty picky about it, but I loved the options on their lunch menu. The lunch combo is an awesome deal, where you get to pick 2 of about 10 different smaller-sized lunch options for only $ 10.95! I went with the Buffalo Clam Chowder, as I am very into clam chowder, and the Pork sandwich. Portions were perfect. Clam chowder can be heavy, but the size was appropriate. I found it to be a delicious soup to start my meal, with a good amount of heat. The addition of salty bacon to the briny clams was also very nice! I think this is a great rendition that«Buffalo-style» foods can be flavorful and classy. The pork shoulder sandwich was also delicious. Pork was juicy and tender, with good amount of spice. Rice and beans ON a sandwich is certainly, err, different, but good! I also tried a bite of my fiancé’s meal which included the fish and chips. It was a good, smaller sized portion of fish, which was nice for a lunch. My biggest issue was that I was given the wrong beer. It wasn’t busy, but I 100% know I was given an IPA when I ordered like a brown ale. I didn’t send it back, because it was drinkable, but just a minor irritant. But if the food at lunch was an indication, I think dinner will be just as delicious, so I think we will definitely be back for dinner!

Came in after a Sabres game for a drink and to try out their oysters at a table in the bar area. That had a decent selection of oysters and were served fresh, so I can’t complain about that. Our server, however seemed inexperienced and not very attentive, which was very surprising being the place was not busy and had plenty of staff. The place had a nice feel to it and We liked it’s décor. I may come back back for dinner as I see potential. I’ll give a full review at that time.

Went to OSHUN for brunch last Sunday and I must say I highly recommend. I ordered crab cakes with poached eggs on top and the flavors were amazing. I also ordered a «winter sangria» on their drink list and it was also amazing. I will definitely be coming back for brunch on Sundays. Yumoooh

Food: 5 Service: 4 ½(A half star off for 10 minute wait for a server) Bar: 5(service and option to sample seasonal drafts/IPA’s) Oshun offers an outstanding menu from light bites to entrees. Everything sounded so delicious, we found it difficult chose. With the help of our wonderful server, Leah, we decided to share some small plates. We began our meal with P.E.I. oysters, raw clams and stone crab from the daily specials. The option to be able to order by the piece rather than the usual half or dozen was perfect. We devoured them too quickly. Next, we shared the Romaine Salad and the Truffle Fries. The romaine was topped with radishes, carrot slivers and a mild goat cheese.(We almost ordered the Arugula Salad but we’re saving that for our next visit.) Fries with salad? Yes! Since there wasn’t any bread or chips to munch on beforehand, we justified our decision to order these incredibly crunchy, yet tender inside, fries. We decided not to share the main plates since the companion wanted meat. He chose the pork chop off the regular menu, and I chose the wild caught, Icelandic Wolf Fish special. We both loved our dishes, but I’m still thinking about how amazing my dish was hours later and hoping I can still get this next week. Wolf Fish is mild and meaty, with a slightly sweet, buttery texture. It’s the chef’s artistic touch — a Garam Masala crust, with just a dash of heat to it, that takes this entrée to the next level of deliciousness. The fish rests atop a mixture of lentils, and perfectly sautéed green beans. A fresh persimmon apple chutney balances all the flavors. We forced ourselves(not!) to end our feast with their amazing homemade cookies served with vanilla ice cream. We chose the caramel pretzel cookies over the one with cranberries. Our plan was to take them home, but the companion couldn’t resist biting into his warm, fresh from the oven cookie! A final note, this was our fourth visit to Oshun, and the third for dinner. The first time was too soon after they opened, but we tasted the potential. Our second time, a few months later was much more successful. Each time the menu has been slightly different, yet the same problem remains — how can we try everything we want to taste? Come often, and bring family and friends who like to share!

Came for dinner on a Friday night at 7. The brunch cocktail menu was exposed on the regular menu because they usually hide it with a dinner cocktail sheet overtop, and it had slipped off, so I ordered a Winter Sangria off the brunch menu(not knowing that it was a brunch menu). My husband did the same and ordered a Bloody Maria. The waitress alerted us to the mix up but assured us that she would get us our drinks of choice if they was available, and luckily they were. My Winter Sangria was very tasty If you like mulled wine, which I do. The Bloody Maria was very tasty; tangy and spicy. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer. It was fried with a sweet sauce drizzled over the top and served with a sweet corn salsa. The sauce made the beading kind of soggy, but I didn’t mind. Calamari is always delicious. For an entrée, my husband ordered the perch and I got the rainbow trout, and I have to say, I was not a fan of that particular dish. The trout itself was okay, but the Parmesan sauce they drizzled over it was odious. I mean it almost made me gag. I had to scrape it off. Maybe some people like extremely pungent cheese sauces, but not me. The trout was served with pears and peppers that were pickled in some kind of brine and, again, I was not a fan. I couldn’t eat them. My husband’s perch was alright, but sort of flavorless. Only when he took a lemon from his drink and squeezed it over his fish did the flavors really come together and it was pretty tasty. I have to say that, as a seafood fan, I will probably be back to try another dish. The trout was a gamble that didn’t pay off. I’d love to try their renowned oysters someday and another entrée.

Monday night rolls around, we want seafood but something a little bit more upscale than take out sushi in front of the television, so we headed to Oshun. We walked there, and as we approached the restaurant we were convinced it was closed, as the OSHUN sign out front was completely dark as were the windows. Just as we were about to turn around I thought I may have seen a glimpse of light coming from the interior, we approached the restaurant and realized that it was in fact open, but very deceiving, not very welcoming from the outside, they would definitely benefit by adding lighting to their signage or in their windows. We decided to sit at the bar as we wanted to be in front of a television screen to catch the MLB postseason games. The place was surprisingly quiet, a little too quiet. Lighting was really dark inside too, which explains the impression that they were closed from the outside. They have a fairly extensive wine by the bottle list, their wine by the glass list a bit small. We each went with a glass of Malbec that I did not enjoy, though it got much better after we had food. The bartender needed to be warmed up a little bit. He was soft spoken from the start, but once I started talking to him about sports he became more talkative. We started with half a dozen raw oysters, can’t recall the name but they were large and salty, pretty tasty. The bartender was knowledgable about all the different kinds. Next, we had steamed mussels which were in a red citrus cream sauce and had a crunchy toasted rice which added a really nice dynamic. So, the mussels were in a horrible bowl. You were unable to get any of the sauce while eating the mussels because the bowl was way too small that all the mussels were piled on top so you had to grab one, dig into the bottom attempting not to spill the broth everywhere(fail for me, multiple times) We ended up having to finish the mussels and then taste the broth separately. Unfortunately, we weren’t even half way done with our mussels when our entrees were brought to the bar. We weren’t ready for them, we weren’t in a rush and felt rushed at that point. By the time we finished our mussels and got to our entrees, they were cold. I had the Ahi Tuna which was served with pork fried rice and baby bok choy finished in a sesame peanut dressing. The dish was cold but the flavors were great. The tuna was just seared on the outside and came out rare, didn’t cut very easily though. The fried rice tasted great and there were fairly large pieces of pork in the rice. Baby boy choy was too buttery for my palate but still tasty and the sesame peanut dressing went really well everything on the plate although I really couldn’t identify a strong peanut flavor, it was still delicious. I enjoyed the Perch entrée, again, besides it being cold. This was the entrée the bartender recommended to us and we were glad we went with his recommendation. The perched was cooked perfectly, the broccoli had great flavor but was a little tough to chew. The roasted lemon maple butter sauce was so delicious. We left satisfied, everything was good, not amazing, just good. It did the trick but we wouldn’t run back here as we felt the prices were a little high.

I’ve been meaning to try Oshun for quite some time and finally decided to go for it! I went with my better half and another couple for brunch on a Sunday morning. We were seated quickly(with a reservation) however after that it was a lot of waiting. It took almost 10 minutes for a server to come over and greet us. Being a server and bartender for quite some time in the past, this bothers me to no end. If it was busy, I’d get it. But… the it was pretty empty at this time and we saw numerous employees walk past us as we hangerly looked around and didn’t say a word. When our server finally made it over he seemed like he wanted to be everywhere but where he was. But let’s move on to the food for now… I had the Oyster Skillet Hash and my boyfriend had the Crab Benedict. The presentation was beautiful(as you can see in my photos) and they really were quite delicious. The portions looked fairly small but they actually were very filling and the flavors were perfect! I also fell in love with their Bloody Mary recipe. Why? Because they use a LOT of minced garlic in it. If you’re a garlic fan and a Bloody fan — you need to try one. If that’s not your style, then I would opt for something else. All in all, the meal was great however the service left something to be desired. In comparison to the other places I’ve been recently(Handlebar, Big Ditch, Viking Lobster, etc) the service here was extremely poor. But hey, maybe someone was just having a bad day I don’t know.

I went during a business trip with a group of coworkers. The ambience is nice. The service is reminiscent of a nice restaurant. Great. My appetizer as sweet briny and delicious — raw oysters. Yum! I appreciate how well and expertly they were shucked. Entrees was such a disaster. Hilariously so. I ordered rainbow trout. Grilled. With grilled peaches. And honey truffle dressing. With arugula. And some tomato thing. And shaved Parmesan. Look. I ordered a whole grilled fish. Keep it simple. The chef just seemed confused. So many flavors and textures and flavor risks that the entrée was just confused. Secondly, if you’re going to debone my fish, please actually debone it. Don’t take out the spine and then leave all the small pieces, the fins, and part of the tail. Just what?! Two of my coworkers ordered perch, but one of the entrees was definitely not perch. So to make up for that, he got mushrooms that my coworker who actually had perch didn’t. So that was interesting. One of entrees was swordfish that was refrigerated cold. Sent it back twice and still the same. To make up for the catastrophe that was dinner, they sent three dessert trays(12 cookies and 3 isn’t scoops of ice cream total). Which was super thoughtful. But then, the chocolate chip cookies were completely raw on the inside. Like hello, warm dough. But all in all, we had a great time. No one got food poisoning. And my friend really enjoyed that fish — the one that’s definitely not perch. So, never going back. Thanks for the experience.

Been to Oshun twice and both times I leave the place happy and full. I love oysters and the oysters served here are fresh. Their oysters are a little more expensive then most places, but for the freshness and deliciousness, I am willing to pay a little extra. I know they have happy hour specials on oysters, but I haven’t tried that yet. The items on most of the menu are not too expensive, but since most items come as small plates, things do add up.(Note: It has been a few months since I have been there, so not sure if their menu has changed). I will probably go back again for special occasions, but it definitely won’t be one of my regular go to restaurants because it gets expensive!

My boyfriend and I came here for a quick lunch before catching our flight home to NYC and we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant itself is cute once you get inside but the area of Buffalo it is in is really not. That aside, we shared two dozen oysters and a salad. The salad was just a salad but whoa boy the oysters were amazing. Salty, fresh, and came with really good sauce options. However, the oysters were exponentially more delicious without sauce which was a welcome change. What a great find in Buffalo.

My husband and I love coming here, getting a seat at the bar and enjoying oysters and other small plates. We have gotten to know the bartender Katie who remembered us, and she is on top of her game! She is such a great part of the restaurant. Now onto the drinks… Amazing! They only have a few signature drinks, my favorite is the Moiré. And when we want to switch it up, Katie is able to come up with something to our liking. Food… So good! Of course, the oysters are delicious and fresh. They are served with cocktail and the vinegar sauce. We even tried the oyster shooters which are Bloody Mary mix with either vodka or tequila and an oyster at the bottom. They were fun, but if you don’t like spicy things, do not get them because they were very spicy. As far as the rest of the food that we have had, scallops, grilled octopus(no longer on the menu :(truffle fries, Parker house rolls, clam dip and oysters casino. Everything has been amazing. If you want seafood, this is the place to go.
