Parked conveniently in the Lower West Side, Ricos Pinchos always catches my eye when I drive by. One day when I had yearning for mashed up plantains I decided to give it a shot. I wanted to order the«mofongo as a meal». I don’t speak Spanish and the staff confused me as to whether it came with a meat of any kind or not. They finally decided that it did not, but when I was served it came with a meat… I don’t know what kind of meat, but it was meat. It appeared to be deep fried pig snouts and/or cartilage. It was chewy and unappealing. I really only like my pig snouts/cartilage in the form of a char-broiled Sahlen’s hot dog. I didn’t care for whatever that was, but the mofongo was really good, and there was a generous portion of it too. I’ll head back to Ricos Pinchos again to give them another shot, but I’m not going to get the«mofongo as a meal» again.
