A great little thrift shop in the heart of Black Rock. Serendipity focuses on housewares, so you’ll find a great selection of furniture, dishes, décor items, and small appliances. The offerings are very nicely curated(there’s pretty much no «junk»), so I was surprised at how low the prices were. Lots of treasures to be explored! Definitely being added to my roster of «musts» for city thrifting!

I am so thankful to our fellow Unilocalers for writing reviews about Serendipity! I never would have known this little shop, where ALL proceeds go to charity, even existed. All of the staff members volunteer their time to keep this diamond in the rough up and running. It’s hit or miss so I plan on stopping in monthly.

I am giving this five stars for the times you walk in and find a fabulous couch, painting, brooch, vase, book, or bowl. The brains and brawn behind this operation is Michael. I first met him when the store was in the basement of the Lafayette Presbyterian church on Elmwood. He is always friendly, accommodating, and on the look-out for great buys for you and to benefit the AIDS Plus Fund. All proceeds go to helping people living with HIV/AIDS. I have bought some great things here, like a Braun electric juicer for $ 5, a hand carved purple stone and bead bracelet for $ 3, and other miscellaneous items. This new location, just a hop West from Wegmans, is large, open, and brightly lit. They are currently open from Wednesday through Saturday, noon to five, and Friday until six. On street parking was plentiful when I visited on a Saturday afternoon.

Just up from Wegmans towards Grant is this store. They sell all sorts of things, mostly used and presumably donated goods. CDs. Tapes. Books. Glasses, wine and drinking. Pez. Some jewelry. A dictionary set. Unused photo albums. Chairs. A couch. Suitcases. Pictures. Puzzles. Baskets in all sizes. Mugs. Various silverware. All proceed go to various charities. I imagine it’s a little hit or miss. One day you’ll find«the perfect thing». The next day not so much. 1889
