Apparently they are closed, we’ve called three times in one week and they never seem to answer there phones. Burritos are good but very pricey!!!

I’m always on the prowl for good lunch spots in Burbank, I was craving mexican food so I thought I’d give Nacho Mama’s a shot. I was pretty hungry so i opted for their nachos… at a place called Nacho Mama’s you almost have to. My first reaction when it came out was .wow… this is huge! The order was more than enough for two people as any good order of nachos is… but this one was slightly bigger than I expected. Sadly thought, flavor-wise it was just ok. There wasn’t anything in there that packed a punch. The carne asada had a nice texture and cook to it but was kinda bland. The guacamole was very soupy and processed and everything else just kinda mixed into the blandness.

Great authentic Mexican food at a reasonable price. Much to do about the nachos, but my favorite is the breakfast burrito ! Even if it is past 11am — if they still have some potatoes left … you’re in for true pleasure A real family atmosphere with plenty of daily specials. Not that easy to find(between Dad’s Doughnuts and the Dry Cleaners), but the food is well worth the time to find the place!

Well for a place called nacho mama it sure CAN’t make nacho’s. Granted I didn’t get anything else so I can’t say if it’s good or not. I was in the mood for some nachos so when I saw this place I was delighted. When I got there only one order was a head of me. The person behind the register was running around frantically. When he finally took my order the cook gave me a look like great I got to make more food. I got my food quick only to find out when I got home my nachos had no cheese, no guac and it was all blan. In the end I put my food in the trash and was incline to tell other DON’T GOHERE!

Nacho Mama’s may not look like much from the outside but they have a cool name and even better tacos! The nachos are good of course, but it’s the tacos that bring me in regularly. They’re cheap and incredibly tasty. Not a taco person? No worries, check out their burritos, quesadillas and enchiladas. Everything here is home cooked with love and oh so tasty!

Nacho Mama’s sure can make some good tacos. I honestly haven’t had any nachos here but I’m sure they have to be pretty tasty. The servers are usually pretty kind but past two times I’ve come here my order has been messed up and it was a little dirty inside. Both times they were extremely busy so I won’t fault them too much but that’s why they get the slight bump down. I still recommend them to anyone out there and especially if you’re looking for some cheap, tasty food.

So My roommate showed up today with a nice surprise and I was stoked to see him and the surprise… a breakfast burrito from Nacho Mama’s! I was actually cooking up eggs, sausage and a bagel when he showed up and just went ahead and shut my breakfast down. I was pumped to try this burrito and compare it to corner cottage and Norm’s to see where it ranks… Well, I was very disappointed and they now rank DEAD last. The best think that I can say is the burrito was warm and that’s about it… It was priced at $ 6.00, very small, flavorless, and the potatoes were hard! What a bust… Hence, 2 stars.

So after a long ass day at work I decided to treat myself to some delicious tacos. I drove by and noticed that the place formerly known as Los Chavos was now Nacho Mama’s. Well hells bells Danny, let’s give this motherfucker a try! The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the cleanliness of the place, clean floor, freshly painted walls, well lit, etc… The second thing I noticed was the limited, but not too limited menu. Tacos, burritos, tortas, nachos, chiles rellenos, enchiladas, sopes, and quesadillas. I overheard the girl at the register say that they also had mole. Mole you say!!! So i was looking all over the menu for that, but she said that«today» they had it, wondering if it’s only on certain days though. I’ll have to investigate that shit. Anyway back to the tacos. I ordered two al pastor tacos, and to my surprise, they had beans in them. Who’s ever heard of beans IN tacos? Well i most certainly haven’t, BUT… man oh man were they good. Just the right amount of beans, the meat was tender and tasty and not very greasy. The cilantro and onions perfectly complimented the ingredients and the tortillas were nice and soft, not stale and rubbery like a lot of other places i’ve been to. Oh and they also offer breakfast burritos from 7:00 to 11:00, too bad I go in at 5:00 fucking a.m. or else i’d hit ‘em up for that too! The service was great, the friendly(and hot girl might I add) behind the counter took my order with ease, the cook(nice older cat) was on the grill busting shit out like no one’s business and the price was perfect. Less than $ 4.00 bucks for those big ass tacos and a little brown bag of fresh tortilla chips. They may not offer combo meals, but that’s ok I guess that’s what seperates this place from almost every other mexican taco joint. Nacho Mama imma hit you up some more in the future baby! BOOM!

Good service and a simple no nonsense menu. The prices are great and the tacos are huge. The chicken is my favorite.

I thought this place would be better given that it’s located in SoCal, but it was just so-so burrito.

I miss Los Chavos. The service here is nice, but the food needs improvement. I ordered an selection of tacos and nachos. They use too much beans on the Nachos, very soggy, hard to eat. The guacamole wasn’t very good at all and whats the deal with beans on the tacos??? I’ll give this place a chance again in the future. but I miss the old place. :(

I’ve been working in Burbank for two years, and it really saddens my heart to see Los Chavos gone. When Nacho Mama’s popped up, I was hoping that the guys from Los Chavos had just sold the business and recipes to a new owner. God was I wrong. Firstly, their logo is a Taco with a Sombrero and red heals. That should have been the only«stay away from this disgusting joint» warning I needed. The Menu is very small, which is okay if the food is amazing, but sadly that’s not even close to the case. I tried some carne asada tacos. It was disgusting. The meat was chewy and the whole thing tasted like they pre-made it days before. Stay away!

I am a long time customer of the late Los Chavos whose food I dearly loved. I decided to try Mama’s carnitas burrito from their limited menu. This is a dish I often ordered from Los Chavos, so it seemed to be a good choice for comparison purposes. If the Chavos version rated 8 out of 10, this one gets a 2. The meat was overly salty and had the break-apart consistency of canned chicken. Not good at all. The salsas were flat and uninteresting as well. I’ll try again in a few months, but Mama’s will have to get a whole lot better for me(and probably many other Chavos fans) to become a regular customer. Sorry, Mama’s. I wish you the best of luck.

Us locals were saddened that Los Chavos closed. Saw this new place pop up in the same spot so we had to give it a try. I received a very warm welcome from the owners when I walked in. Looking at the rather small, slightly pricey menu, I noticed there were no combos. Everything was almost a la carte. Decided on two all carne asada burritos and 4 carne asada tacos. Apparently, they put beans on their tacos so I had to tell them to leave those off. Never heard of anyone that does that. After taking my order, I saw the lady cooking open up a plastic bag with cooked meat and simply reheat it. Really? Trying not to be discouraged by that, I still wanted to give the food a chance. The tacos were slightly larger than average, and were meh. The tortillas tasted a bit stale and were chewy, and the meat was very bland The burritos were ok. Not much meat for what I paid for them. The aguas de jamaica were actually very tasty. The salsas were nothing special. Overall, it was ok. Then things went terribly wrong. The wifey and I both got really sick afterwards and had to keep visiting the toilet all night and part of the next day. Not cool. Not going back here again. I can get better, cheaper mexican food from one of the countless taco trucks or taco joints nearby, like Daniel’s in Sun Valley or I can always hop on the freeway and hit up King Taco. Plus they don’t make me get the hershey squirts like this place did.

Nacho Mama’s took over the space that used to be Los Chavos. I only went to Los Chavos once and don’t know whether it’s new management or not, but I thought I’d give it a try for lunch today. I feel like I should have tried nachos, seeing as that’s the namesake. Instead I opted for a vegetarian burrito. I liked that they took the time to melt the cheese and grill the burrito, but the ingredients just weren’t very good and they didn’t use enough pico de gallo. The refried beans had a dry mushy texture, much like beans from a can. The guacamole tasted like it might have been a day or two old. I tried both of their salsas, which were nothing special. Thankfully I also took some Tapatio. The service was very friendly, the prices are reasonable, and they take credit cards. They have a few rotating specials, including $ 1 tacos on Thursdays. I’ll be back to try the nachos and/or tacos(which looked good), but my first impression of the food here was not good.
