As first timers(my bf and I) were approached by a waitress with an option to sit on a table or booth. We chose to go for the booth because that’s what we always go for. As we waited for them to clean one, which was fine with us, we noticed that her demeanor had changed and it wasn’t a positive one. After being seated it took them a while to offer us drinks and even longer to take our order. Even though a table of 6 showed up 5 minutes after us and all of them got their drinks and placed their order before us. After FINALLY ordering our drinks and food, all hell broke loose… 1.Ordered a strawberry lemonade and ended up getting a water. 2.Ordered a burger with no tomatoe and no onion and it had both!(Sent it back and they just removed the tomatoe and onion.) 3.Told them to add pickles and we saw no visible pickles on the burger. 4.Instead of a strawberry lemonade which I had ordered, they then brought me a strawberry milkshake. Waitress then approached our table trying to make us confess we had ordered the milkshake. After the 4th mistake we had decided to just leave and go eat at BWW. We had told the waitress nicely we were going to leave and if we still had to pay for the food. She said we were fine without paying. Which was nice but we left hungry and disappointed. First time ever anything like this has ever happened to us. So disappointed :(

Ate here 3 times, first time was right when they opened this location and the experience was cool. Second time(couple months later) my soda glass was stained light brown had them exchange it. Then my fries came out drenched in seasoning couldn’t even eat it, was embarrassed to send that back too. Third time when I ordered fries told them to go light on the seasoning, the damn thing came back drenched with seasoning and a deep fried hair in it. I told the waitress, she wanted to make it right by giving me a free order of fries. I said no thanks, paid my bill gave a 20% tip because it’s not her fault… I am never returning again.

We dropped in after the movie, were seated immediately, and our order taken in moments. Our server, «Lilla» was attentive and wanted our dining experience to be great. BBQ n bacon cheeseburgers and fries hit the spot. Chocolate banana shake? BINGO! [Arnold voice] We’ll be back.

Tastes like Steak n Shake to me. We grew up in the Midwest and always try to stop at a Steak n Shake when we visit there so it is great to see this chain in SoCal. We’ve eaten here twice, we were early — around 11am both times so the place was almost empty. Service was prompt and attentive. All those working there were very friendly. W both had steak burgers and they were cooked just right. I’ve been to some locations where the burgers were greasy but these were not. We love those little French fries. They were hot and fresh. I also had a cup of chili. There is just something different about Steak ‘n Shake chili that I like.

First time at this place, the menu is great. Right before watching a movie we stopped real quick by this joint, food was delicious, the vibes were good too, kinda resembles a old skool dinner but it’s missing a few things, the price was good too. Our waitress did an amazing job in taking care of us! Very friendly and alert, unfortunately I didn’t get her name but overall staff did a great job. Thanks for your great service! Will be coming soon !!!

I think a lot of previous reviews were based on bad service as this place just opened. I thought the food was fine. Reminiscent of fat burger minus the salt. I ordered a guacamole burger(double patty) with Cajun fries. They goofed by putting chipotle but the server corrected it. She was really nice and gave good service. The bun was too soft but the meat, veggies, guacamole tasted great. I ordered a cherry coke and was happy they did it the old fashion style by adding a shot of cherry. Don’t expect a oh-ah, but it’s not bad after watching X-men apocalypse.

Horrible experience . Went in before a movie with my 2 kids. No one was in the restaurant but yet the 2 girls at the counter were«busy». Finally ordered which was interrupted by non business issues on their part first. Couple burgers and fries to go… We have a movie to catch. Girl took order and left. Saw her a minute later but no burgers being put on the grill and remember the place was empty. Finally a manager asked me if I was alright and I told her we had a movie to catch. She found our order and they put our burgers on. Brought out our fries in a closed up bag and set them on the counter.(Didn’t know they were mine) girl who took our order had a huge group of teens she knew come in and commented on the nice ass of one of them as she sat them at a table. Not impressed. Food was finally ready and we ran to our movie and had horrible, cheap nothing burgers and soggy throw away fries. That place is a total joke.

Right iff the back I’m going to say that two stars is for the service. The women were on point, smiled and made good small talk. The burger itself is just okay. What really turned me off is there was some gristle in the meat which I bit into. Parking is a breeze and easy. Fries were limp and weren’t anything phenomenal. Just so Unilocalers the style of the burger tries to revival the smash burger. The veggies on it was fresh. I think what would could make this burger joint a success is bringing something unique and different. With in and out, fuddruckers etc… so close I worry about its long term survival in a plaza that has high turn over

So after spending like 4 hours in court, my bf and I are starvingggggg, our usual spot is Eat that Burger which is located in North Hollywood(if you’re reading this, take a trip to NoHo and try this place it’s awesome), but I didn’t want to drive so I decided to try this place(without reading the reviews, just looking at the pictures of the food). I’ll break down my experience in 2 categories Service & Friendliness: 5 We weren’t even in the door get when they were greeting us already. We were quickly seated and our server came to take our order within a matter of seconds. We started with shakes(½ off, hell yes) I got a strawberry shake with fudge, can’t remember the name of it, I just got whatever the server liked the best, my bf got the banana shake, mine came first and I don’t know if it was because I was starving, but it was BOMB, my bf’s shake sucked, lol. Oh this is the service and friendliness section and I’m talking about food :/sorry. Basically, they were friendly, attentive and fast, which is why I give them a 5. Food & Portion: 1 My bf order a double steak burger, he was waiting for something big, what he got disappointed him so much, I felt bad for him, $ 7 for a small burger? Um I should of just gone to that North Hollywood place or have read the reviews on here. I order a chicken melt, it was whatever, not good not bad, I can’t even remember what it tastes like to be honest, but hey the shake did make up for it, well for me at least. If you guys are craving a shake, this is a nice place to stop by on a hot day around 2 – 5(happy hour, wink wink), but for food, I really don’t recommend it, might as well just go to In n Out(or the North Hollywood place…) and save a few bucks and actually feel full. Ohhh by the way if you stop by and are waiting for your shake go ahead and play the claw machine, that’s what my bf did while we waited for a shake we ordered to go and he won a little shake teddy for me: D

Well… if you decide on take out… check order before you leave. I should have known better after the young lady that called my order I noticed two drinks not 3… had to tell them im missing jr coke. My daughters jr cheese burger meal was missing the cheese when it clearly said it on my receipt and finally my grilled chicken salad was filled halfway in the bowl and missing cheese AND croutons. I was sadly disappointed

I had a hard time coming up with how many stars they deserved and decided to round up… in reality it should be 3.5 stars. So, I have been here twice. Once for a to go order and once for a sit down experience. For the to go, my boyfriend decided to grab a milkshake to go before we headed home after a movie. We placed the order and waited a little less than 10 minutes for our order. They were sort of busy and we watched employees jump from milkshake maker to cashier to server. It was interesting to watch. The sit down experience was a little better. We walked in, but there no seating hostess at their post. We waited a few minutes before seating, but no biggie. Our server Kathleen took our drink order and gave us our menus. She came back promptly, but we’re not ready. I decided to get the Chicago frank, which was ok. I upgraded to cajin fries, which were good… but then I realized I could save myself the upgrade by using the seasoning provided at the table myself. My boyfriend got the bacon burger with regular fries which looked pretty good. He also ordered a chocolate milkshake, which was good… but I’ve had better. I think I would rate this milkshake on par with Johnny rocket’s. Overall, I’m not sure if I would come again. The service was great with the server coming in often to check on us, but I’m not sure of the food was worth it. I have been to another steak n shake location in Vegas, which probably gave me higher expectations for this visit. You should check it out at least once and make your own decision… happy Unilocaling!

I came into Steak N’ Shake with high hopes. Much of my family on the east coast speak very highly of it, so I knew I had to try it out. Unfortunately, it has been a disappointment. When you enter the restaurant, the first thing you see is a sign asking guests to please wait to be seated. We waited for about two minutes before being acknowledged by the staff. When we did get noticed, the server told us to sit wherever we wanted. I felt this was odd first experience, but I digress. I have visited the Burbank Steak N’ Shake three times now, and all three times I did not receive the correct order. Twice I have ordered the Frisco Burger with Bacon, but never a slice of bacon to be found. Further, I was charged both times for bacon I did not receive. Last night I ordered the Grilled Chicken Taco Salad. The server asked if I would like the dressing mixed it and I said yes. My food arrived with dressing on the side. Very frustrating. I am giving Steak N’ Shake two stars because despite the lackluster service, the food has been okay, but nothing great. I may go back soon to try one of the many shakes, but after three very mediocre experiences I am tempted to take my business elsewhere.

Wow, there are so many negative reviews about this place! I decided to give it a try anyways because I work nearby, so I stopped by for lunch. I actually really enjoyed it! I went there twice so far, and their prices are unbeatable. The shakes and fries taste awesome and so do their salads! I haven’t tried the burgers yet. Each time I went I got great and quick service. I noticed that weekdays their service is a bit better than weekends though because it isn’t that busy. I will be coming back! Also, if you download their app, you get a free shake :)

First off, let me say that I love Steak ‘n Shake — I grew up with 5 locations in my hometown and am very happy that the steakburgers I love have made it to Los Angeles. The only thing saving this review from 1 star was that the food was still just as tasty as the Steak n Shakes at home. That being said, I am deeply disappointed in the low level of service that is being allowed at the restaurant. Six servers(that I can remember), 4 kitchen staff, 1 supervisor, and another at least 2 kitchen cleanup — and this is what happened. Upon walking in, we stood for two minutes without ever being acknowledged. Eventually someone came to the front and asked if we were dining in or taking out — we said in, and that the bar would be fine. There had been patrons there and the places hadn’t been cleaned yet, but she told us to go ahead and have a seat. As we sat at dirty place settings, the dishes and trash were seen and passed by multiple times before the supervisor, who spent our ENTIRE visit making milkshakes in a dirty station, finally flagged down Grant to clean the counter.(Real quick — she literally spent the ENTIRE time making milkshakes with another employee. Never stepped out to check on service, never stepped out to help with the register or guide employees. She did not leave that station — nor did she clean it. Every milkshake was made in a pool of melted ice cream and placed on a holding counter to melt until a server could remember to come get it. Every glass and to go cup had ice cream dripping down the side.) Back to the counter: Rather than clean the spaces in front of myself and my mother, Grant, who my mother eventually named Gomer, cleaned ONE space next to me and walked away.(We decided this was Grant’s first job — he wandered around, not quite sure what to do, with zero direction from anyone else and no initiative of his own. We watched him aimlessly meander for the entire visit.) Another employee was told to finish the job, and he also cleaned one space to the side of my mother. Another employee finally got the hint, took the remaining dishes and placemats, and left without wiping down the counter or replacing placemats or silverware. The counter was eventually wiped down with a wet rag and dried off with multiple paper towels(?). Our server, Nicole C, was stellar — she apologized for the wait, took our order, gave us silverware without us having to ask, and seemed to be the only one with any work ethic or motivation. While we were waiting for our food, another couple came and, after waiting at the door too long, sat down next to us at the counter. They were never approached or acknowledged, and eventually left the restaurant entirely. When we did finally get our food, the order was wrong(forgot to sub rings for fries), but was quickly remedied. I went to put mustard on my burger and the lid was clogged — no big deal, usually a little pressure behind it pops that little dried piece out(I felt it shouldn’t be there in the first place, but no matter). Too much pressure — the lid came entirely off of the bottle, revealing that the screw top portion of the bottle was caked with so much dried mustard that the lid couldn’t attach properly. As we ate, we saw multiple tables and«door guests» get ignored by employees. The front area was constantly unattended. The kitchen floor had whipped cream can lids scattered about and we were just waiting for someone to slip on them. There were no designated bussers, and thus the servers would congregate to clean, sometimes 3 servers to clean one table(so they could chat). An hour and a half later — WAY too long for a quick burger restaurant — we couldn’t take it anymore and had to get out of there. At Steak N Shake, you pay at the front — your server doesn’t take your payment. Guess what? We walked out without paying — no one was at the register the three times we tried. No one stopped to ask, no «just a sec, we’ll be right with you». NOTHING. Just stood there at an empty cash register waiting and waiting and waiting. Very saddened by the whole experience. As a lover of Steak n Shakes from my childhood, and as an adult who worked in food service(as many of us have), it flat out sucked to see such a shoddily run establishment. It was stressful as all hell; I kept wanting to help customers by either seating them or telling them to go somewhere else. We did make sure to give Nicole her tip, though. There are some who deserve it.

I’m so sad to have to write this review. We came in here on a Sunday night with really good, and high expectations. Unfortunately from the beginning to end it just started bad, then got worse. We had to wait about ten minutes for a table, which was not bad at all. But the host said they had no more kids menus so our three kids had to share one. That was no big deal, but as we sat longer we noticed other families seated with kids menus for their kids, and more kids sat after us, and they each received a menu and crayons. Which really implies to us, they just didn’t feel like folding anymore for our kids? Secondly, if I were to have been a secret shopper they would have completely failed. Over 25 minutes to get our drinks out, 40 minutes to get out food. The service was so bad(though our particular server was sweet, you can just tell badly trained and poorly unsupported by the rest of her staff) that the table behind us had drinks down and ordered and actually got up to walk out because they no longer even had service. We heard a food runner actually stop them and say that their food was coming, and they would comp their meal, with the exception of their drinks… And even still their food still came out staggered and took a while. A few of us ordered shakes(which quite honestly is the ONLY plus here) which we can tell sat on the counter for a while because our whipped cream was completely melted into the ice cream. :( All of our burgers were dry, AND they got two of our orders wrong and forgot three of our orders. So after waiting 40 minutes for food to come out, we still had about another ten minutes for everyone to have food– and one more item was still forgotten. Did Steak & Shake once at this Burbank location, don’t need to go again.

A-OK. I don’t understand the many bad reviews that Steak N’ Shake seems to be getting but to each their own! I actually had a quite pleasant experience here. Had dinner post-movie with a group of friends one Friday night and despite them saying we were going to have to wait a while, our buzzer buzzed and we were seated within 10 minutes. Keep in mind that this was the Friday when Star Wars: The Force Awakens came out and this Steak N’ Shake is located right in front of AMC. Our server was attentive and friendly. Waters for everyone straight away and he didn’t rush us to get our orders in. I ordered a Guacamole Steakburger with Fries. The fries were too skinny for my liking. They were almost like shoestring fries and I am not the biggest fan of those. The guacamole steak burger was pretty good as far as burgers go. I liked the steak n shake condiment they provide. Goes so well with the fries. My friends also enjoyed their shakes and burgers. I do think that the entrance area gets a little bit too packed with people trying to wait for a table or order for take-out. They need to figure that situation out. They just opened so I’m sure they’re still working out the kinks, training staff, etc. We were a group of 8 and they were patient with us paying for each of our meals separately, so I appreciated that.

So this new place needs to realize that people want to eat here after seeing a movie. More money can’t be bad, right? So first impressions are not so great. Super bright fluorescent lighting. Very hard to carry on a conversation due to how loud everything gets. Chairs are too small and the floors are very slippery after its rained. It was 9:30pm when we arrived and the place was full; at least 10 tables were occupied and the counter was full, yet the restaurant was clearly in «let’s start closing for the day» mode. The water cups were tiny and the condiments were messy with dried on ketchup in the dispenser. The meal was blah. The grilled cheese sandwich was not served hot, instead just warm. Not all the cheese had melted. Fries were hot and salty. My friends meals were equally blah. The food seemed to have been sitting under heat lamps and was not as good as the photos. Thankfully the bill wasn’t huge. Oh well. Maybe next time it will be better.

It pains me to write a 1* review of a Steak ‘N Shake, it is one of my favorite places to stop when visiting family in Florida. This is NOT the southern hospitality Steak ‘N Shake I’m used to, this isn’t even the bitterly angsty service of the semi-retired Portlandia baristas that’s mildly amusing, no this is straight up disorganized, blatantly rude, and under trained service. Due to a large party size we had to place our order to go and eat on the patio, they don’t provide«service» outside. I’ll spare the details of the food, it was basic S’NS, lacking in flavor a bit but otherwise fine. From order to finally having our complete and correct order took 45 minutes. We were given the wrong shakes twice, missing food took three return trips inside and 20 minutes, for a hot dog and fries! The final shake arrived in a cup half full and the rest was whipped cream — 45 minutes for a half full shake, woo! When I went back in to return the shake that wasn’t ours and get the right one, the young man at the stand literally rolled his eyes at me and gave me bitch face that is rivaled only by my 14 year old daughter. People were yelling, demanding refunds, and lamenting the fact that Johnny Rockets was gone. I booked a trip to Orlando, may as well go see family and have some real Steak ‘N Shake!

They finally made it up to the valley. I haven’t been to Steak n Shake in over 35 years; it was my oldest sisters 1st job which effectively started the timer on all of us getting older — I’ll never forgive her for that! I wasn’t sure what the new SnS would be compared to my memories. They replaced the Johnny Rockets which had a tasty burger so there was a bar set to at least match. Today was opening day so we went soon after opening and the place looked great and the HUGE staff was there to greet us and seat us! Our server came right away(and we even saw an old face from Johnny Rockets on staff as well) and after perusing the menu and ordering the food was served almost instantly which was surprising, but welcomed. The menu is similar to Johnny’s and the prices are VERY good. I had the double bacon burger and also Tried the Cajun shooter(slider) for .89. The shooter had a lot of flavor for its size and I just may order a lot of these on my next visit as they have 8 – 10 flavors to choose from. Everything was really good and we’re happy to have a new reasonably priced lunch spot to enjoy. Welcome to town!
