So sad. KC’s is now a POTSHOP. I did not care for this converted Sambo’s during the cigarette smoke years, but most of those folks have probably died of cancer I had enjoyed this restaurant and bar for many years. The 222 was always a winner. Hash browns always cooked right, eggs any style, always spot on! Coffee refills? Never had to ask, waitress always on key. Irish up the coffee, No Problem! You will be missed as most breakfast’s in Burien really sucks.

Stopped in for lunch at this time-warpy diner on 1st Ave. in Burien thinking it might be able to make a decent sandwich. It’s worn and sad interior also included a full bar in the back that reeked of cigarettes. In fact, the restaurant itself had this stale scent of tobacco which made the whole experience worse than the mediocre food. I know that there are locals who love this place, but for me, there are so many options that make this place a non-go.

filthy flatware, napkin with fingerprints on it, a bucket of butts and trash right outside the front door, a puddle of liquid covered with a newspaper on the floor, server who bussed tables and then reset them never changing her gloves, and a general sense of gloom for atmosphere, these are a few of my favorite reasons not to go back. I don’t care if the food was five star, or one star, imagine what the kitchen looks like if the front area looked like it did when we ate there.

Good food had the open roast beef sandwich with hash browns(mashed only offered at night) and side salad. Great roast beef! Friends hamburger just ok. Good service.

Thought we’d check this place out since we live so close. Horrible service, bland food(of what we even ate) and the place is FILTHY. Won’t be returning. We aren’t really sure how this place is even open still. Hopefully someone buys this joint out and turns it around into something decent and neighborhood worthy.

Come here for a no-frills, mom & pop-style diner with great food and service! Have frequented here over the years and the food has definitely improved with the newer owners hiring and training better cooks. Would definitely rather come here to support a local, family owned business than to get bad food and service at a corporate-run chain like Denny’s, IHOP, or Denny’s.

Very pleasantly surprised! K.C.s Rocks! After a long bike ride(that’s bicycle to you big fella) I went in for a beer at the bar located at the back of the restaurant. After I finished my beer half jokingly asked the bartender if I could order some food. Since the restaurant had been closed for a couple hours I thought the gal tending the bar would just laugh me out of the place, so I was shocked when she asked me what I what wanted. This bartender’s name was Judy and she was AWESOME! I ended up with the best prime rib dinner I’ve enjoyed in years. Frankly I was amazed at how good it was! I mean I just never would of thought! Anyway hey look, if you want to try a place that is very friendly and big on good old fashioned service then try these folks out. I was very pleasantly surprised by the whole visit. Sometimes the coolest places are right in front of you and you don’t even realize it for way too long!

I have never had an issue with the food, BUT the service had always been horrible! From the waitress who was too busy with her word search puzzle to the cook who left with customers waiting for food because he needed cigarettes?!? Yeah its a run down old Sambo“s that has seen better days, but the lack of customer service sucks! No wonder all the other similar places in the area do so much more business. Wake up KC’S!

Before Denny’s took over the country, there were places like this, and the world was better for it. The waitress knows everyone who walks through the door. The patrons know each other as well. If they don’t know you, expect to be included in their conversation. They ask your name and try to engage you in a very friendly way. The food here is really good. Generous portions that definitely keep your from snacking later in the day. Last time I was there, I got the«pigs in a blanket», and really wasn’t hungry until later in the afternoon after a full day of riding my motorcycle. I highly recommend coming here. The world needs more places like this. I definitely have no problem giving them my business to help stay open.

I used to come here as a kid when it was called Sambo’s…yes Sambo’s. It was a dive then and little has changed, other than I know it’s dive now because I’m adult… at times. The place is really dirty and I was honestly scared of what I might be served. But I was taken by family to eat here and so it was a grin and bear it moment. I order a chicken sandwich. It was grilled and horrible, which was no suprise. I watched a guy stumble out of the bar, which is in the back, and wobble to his car and drive away. We started to call the cops but he was long gone and probably killed somebody. But what do you expect from a human being who is downing cocktails, in the back bar of a crappy restaurant, in the middle of the day. It was par for the course. Oh structure that used to be Sambo’s…if you knew this day was coming, you would have killed yourself. I think that about covers it.

we were on our way to Flapjacks but a sign on their door said they were closed due to a broken pipe, so we came here. My friend ordered the crepes with strawberries and I got the pancakes with 2 eggs. The food was ok, nothing special but not lousy. Unlike the service, which was lousy. The place certainly wasn’t busy — friends of the waitress sat at one table — that was it. But she couldn’t make it batck to our table without being waved down! lousy, lousy service.

HAPPYNEWYEAR! My bf and I went to KC’s Family Restaurant for breakfast. I had ordered their Joe’s Special, which was their today’s special, not on the regular menu. I normally do not order ‘specials’, it’s only a warning for internal disaster after eatting and the follow-out. The waitress made me order it(she was a kool blue-haired lady). Also, most breakfast places I went where they have Joe’s Special, it looked unappealing — ground hamburger, spinach, scrambled eggs — no taste and very plain looking. Here at KC’s, their Joe’s Special had: ground hamburger, spinach, scramble eggs, cut-up sausages, onions, topped with chedder and parmesan cheese. It came with yummy buttered hashbrowns and toast. This was DELICIOUS! My bf ordered their Country Breakfast, the super-duper ultimate breakfast — 3 eggs, hashbrowns, 2 sausages, 4 bacons and slice of ham, toast and juice. We have been here before and the first impression I got when I entered this restaurant is ‘hole-in-the-wall’ and is it clean? So, don’t expect a Denny’s or Shari’s in the interior. That’s why I gave it a 4-stars instead of 5. At that time, I had ordered their Ruben Sandwich and they make their own brisket. It was delicious! The staff is very down to earth. Don’t expect them to be nice to you. They don’t hesitate to say what’s on their mind or how they feel. One said today, «My new year’s resolution is to be nice to my customers» without a smile and she looked very wan(maybe she partied too hard night before). The cooks are burly looking guys, which I like to see. It tells me they like to eat and know how to cook with real ingredients, nothing to hold them back of butter and pork! They both reminded me of Mario Batalli. They have a great down to earth staff. Their breakfast and lunch are delicious AND their prices are very reasonable. My New Year’s Resolution is to order something different on the menu(instead of ALWAYS ordering the same thing) AND give those ‘specials’ another try. A MUSTTRY! =)

I’ve been a handful of times, normally taken by my madre after doctor appointments. Sunday in a mad rush for brunch, the BF and I stopped here as it was the only place off hand I could think of close to home. We had: *Biscuits and Gravy with a side of eggs. *Country Fried steak and eggs with hash browns and an english muffin. *Coffee. The Good: The country fried steak was very tasty, well seasoned, cooked to perfection and the breading was superb. The Bad: The rest. The eggs were obviously beaters and were ordered scrambled with cheese but came out looking like a super thin omelet with only one layer. There was also a questionable amount of grated parsley atop the flat beater. The gravy was runny, thin, and had to be peppered and salted immensely. Small if at all chunks of sausage were found floating around in the gravy and the hash browns were undercooked, soggy, and did not taste better even with a touch of gravy or seasoning. The coffee was watered down which I would not have noticed(I had drowned mine in cream and sugar), but it was brought to my attention by the BF who takes it black. The Ugly: The 70 year old woman dressed in clip on jewelry and bright purple, banging on the glass of the«Claw Master» machine that kept«making» her drop the stuffed monkey she was paying .50 $ a pop to grab. If there is something uglier than a raving lady shaking a stuffed animal machine and ranting/yelling loudly to the other patrons eating about the conspiracy that is the toy industry… indulge me! Please. I would go back for the country fried steak… no sides accept for maybe fruit. Can you eff fruit up? We’ll see…

This is standard American fare. Nothin fancy that’s for sure, but if you’re in the mood for Denny’s style food, you’ve found the place. We went there at lunch time, but the breakfast menu looked solid. The ice-tea tasted fresh and the Turkey plate(their speciality) with stuffing and mashed potatos was good comfort food. There’s a divey looking lounge in back(which meant alcohol on the menu… wheeee!) with a big-screen TV, and you’ll just love the kitchy turqoise-blue booths and counter stools. The staff was friendly, and kept up with refills, although we weren’t there during a rush. The cook asked us how we liked the food, which was a nice touch. Cheap kids specials, also a plus.
