The one word to describe the food in this place is DISGUSTING! I don’t know how this place is still in business. Maybe the menu with chinese, thai and Vietnamese items should have tipped me off. We had the phở, rice with pork chop and egg rolls. There was no taste to the soup outside of salt. The noodles were just gross. The pork chop was salty and wasn’t pork chop. The egg rolls were passable because they were deep fried. My advice, if you trust your taste buds, stay away from here so they understand how bad the food is.

Overheard the server telling another patron they the restaurant is changing ownership who will be serving Malaysian food. Good riddance I thought, as the food was just DISGUSTING. My Vietnamese pork chop over rice was chinese spare ribs(minus the salt and pepper) over rice. The phở had mushy noodles and soup base was hot water + MSG. I couldn’t help blurted out at the table that this has to be the shittiest food I’ve had in a long long time. Can’t wait to meet the Malaysian restaurant coming into this space.

I really like the string beans here! Other dishes taste very good too. Too bad I discovered this place so late and that they’re going out of business soon :(

I ordered takeout last night from here and it was so bad that I threw everything away and went to bed hungry. I’m in grad school in Southern California, and am home for the holidays; didn’t know any phở restaurants in the area, and decided to give this place a try after driving by. I was starving and needed some takeout. I got home so excited to dig in aaaaand… The phở was inedible. The noodles were soggy, puffy and disintegrated when added to broth, which was way salty. The chicken was slimy and chewy and tasted off. I threw it out and was so grateful that I had ordered chicken salad also, even though that was probably too much food for one person. But then the salad was equally inedible. It consisted of iceberg lettuce, fried chicken, and an enormous tub of saccharin-sweet dressing. The lettuce tasted like(and had the consistency of) lettuce that had been frozen. Pail and brown and waxy/chewy. The chicken tasted like a deep frier and took way too much chewing to swallow. The dressing was just gross. Threw it out. So sad. I was so excited for this to be yummy. $ 18 down the garbage disposal.

Incredible food and service. Easily my favorite restaurant in all of Burlingame, and I’ve been through most of them at this point. Go here. Eat. Enjoy life. It doesn’t get much better than this.

I feel sorry to give a bad review of this restaurant, but I had a medium rare grill PORK here. I think this is the only one time and my last time here as well.

This place is a bit hit and miss. I was in Burlingame for a conference and it is such a tiny place that I had to do a repeat visit to some restaurants. The first time I came here I ordered chinese food… chow mein with chicken and shrimp and a vietnamese coffee. The food was delicious. The staff is very friendly. The food came pretty quick and that helped since I was starving. The coffee was great too. it was served with a special coffee filter which made the experience«authentic». If I would’ve reviewed the restaurant back then I would have probably given it a 4. I went here again a few nights after and since the restaurant claims to be a vietnamese place I decided to order a phở. I ordered the chicken phở and it was very bland. It was a huge bowl of hot tasteless broth with a few chicken strips and plenty of noodles… and I am not kidding when I say huge… I couldn’t even finish half of it. If you are going to this place please stick to Chinese food. don’t try to be too adventurous. They also have a Thai menu but I would be wary to try anything on it.

I’ve actually had really good experiences here. They’re really friendly, the food tastes fresh, and it’s a calm environment. The interior is a bit of a mismatch, and the prices are slightly high for what you get, but overall I recommend this place. Don’t be fooled by the lackluster exterior or wacky name. Highly recommended: combination chow fun

Service was friendly and courteous but we did take-out and the food was bland. I wasn’t impressed. We used some kind of coupon to get some free chow mein. It’s sad to give this kind of review, but that’s the truth unfortunately in my opinion.

A wacky fusion restaurant? We were right to be skeptical. The atmosphere was nothing special and the waitress was grumpy as hell. Although the food overall wasn’t terrible, my noodles were beyond standard, the vegetables weren’t particularly fresh, I didn’t get the feeling it was all that hygienic in there. and the piece de resistance? A disgusting chunk of ANIMALFATINMYVEGETARIANDISH. Needless to say I left feeling pretty queasy. The waitress seemed pretty indifferent and I wasn’t even offered a discount. Definitely won’t be returning

My bad. I should have known. Was driving by with my daughters and saw out of the corner of my eye a Vietnamese restaurant. Parked half a block away and walked. As we approached the restaurant, I say that store sign indicating it was both a Chinese and Vietnamese restaurant. That should have raised red flags, but we went in anyway. A mistake it was. Ordered the fried spring rolls and 3 Phở Tai’s with the Beef on the side. The Phở noodles disintegrated in my mouth. Sauce for the spring rolls was unlike I’ve ever tasted(not good :-(). The beef on the side was actually frozen stiff. Soup wasn’t that hot, so meat barely cooked in the broth. The owners were speaking Cantonese. They obviously can’t cook Vietnamese. Needless to say not going back.

I was hesitant going here because of the Unilocal reviews but I’m actually really impressed. Service is really good and attentive — one of the waitresses is very nice and very easy to converse with. For food, I ordered the Walnut and Prawns and Garlic Noodles. Noodles were not greasy and they had a balance of garlic but not to a point where you need 50 breath mints. It had a nice spice to it. The Walnut and Prawns were even better. The prawns where fried to a nice crisp and they had a nice coating of sauce; it wasn’t overdrenched with sauce it wasn’t overtly greasy like other chinese food places in Daly City. I want to go back.

While looking for Chinese takeout in the Burlingame area, I decided to give this place shot. We ordered: — chicken fried rice: Probably the best dish. Minimal pieces of chicken, so if big chicken chunks are your thing, this dish is not going to be your thing. Overall, the flavor was mild, but decent. — vegetable chow mein: These noodles had somewhat of an odd burnt-ish taste. Not sure what could’ve caused that(normally you don’t burn noodles?), but not good for chow mein. — tofu eggplant and basil — Good flavor in the eggplant with the basil and accompanying sauce, but the tofu chunks were massive and just out of place. This vegetarian dish can easily be simplified to just an eggplant dish. That, or I highly recommend decreasing the size of the tofu pieces, because they were outrageous and somewhat unappetizing. I will have to shop around to find a good Chinese takeout joint in the area. This one definitely didn’t hit the spot enough to order from regularly despite its proximity to me and the very friendly service.

Service was terrible, water tastes like metal, the phở had some weird, undesirable tastes in it. Perhaps I’m spoiled by the great phở places in inner sunset, nonetheless I will not be returning here after this first visit.

Oh my GAWD… this has to be one of the worst restaurants EVER. First of all the place is just soooo grimy and dirty. The seats are dirty. The utensils are dirty. The walls are sticky. The sriracha and hoisin bottles are sticky. UGH. Service was absolutely HORRIBLE. There was one lady doing everything, and she literally had the memory capacity of a goldfish. The place was nearly empty when we were there — yet she still forgot our request of chili paste 5 seconds after we asked… and didn’t even acknowledge that she forgot when we got up to ask her about it(by the way, there is NOCHILIPASTEHERE). Ditto about forgetting to bring extra lemons until we asked a second time. The phở was disgusting… the noodles were mushy and dissolved in my mouth. The soup was INSANELY salty. The beef balls were soggy and soft — I have never had soggy beef balls in my life! When I ordered I asked for phở with extra veggies and the lady didn’t even write it down(bad idea if you have the memory span of a goldfish). Surprise, my phở came with barely any veggies. Worst phở I have ever had in general. I can’t even describe how disappointing my boyfriend’s «grilled pork over rice» was. The pork was unlike any pork I have tasted. It was rubbery and watery, and tasted NOTHING like normal Vietnamese grilled pork. It was shocking. Also, there was BARELY any rice on the dish — a scattered fistful at best. It was almost funny how blatantly stingy they were with the rice. The lady also completely forgot about our order of chicken wings and we happily did not remind her… we are done with this place forever.

Average. Average. Does not fix your Phở craving. Super Average. The noodles were mushy, broth was meh. No hot chili sauces to add on! Just sriracha! The tragedy! Sigh. But the staff is super friendly and they will customize your meal the way you want it.

Their veggies are fresh and they don’t drown their food with sauce. They accommodate requests and remember our favorites. Extremely family friendly. And food is a great value for what you get.

If there was ever a place that i hated, it’s this place. My brother and I came here on a Sunday afternoon. There were only two tables in entire place. We sat down and ordered some phở as it seemed like a vietnamese restaurant. It took over 20 minutes for the food to come out. 20 minutes for two bowls of phở? Are you serious? When it came the broth was luke warm and there was seriously 3 bites of noodles and a few slices of beef. I’m pretty sure I ordered a large yet it came out as a small and they charged me for a large. The broth tasted like beef stock w/some herbs and then pound on the MSG. Bowl came w/no onions and cilantro and barely any bean sprouts. On top of all of this, it is damn near $ 10 for a small bowl of noodles! NO phở place in this world charges that much and there are tons of places WAY better. Never will I ever visit this place again. My dad came here one day and he was even more shocked at this place. He’s not a big eater like me and even he was disgusted at the portions of this place. When the bill came he noticed there was a $ 2 charge. He asked what that was and apparently it was for the tea he ordered. It wasn’t even special tea, it was a freaking lipton tea bag and for that it somehow costs TWODOLLARS??? Sure $ 2 isn’t a lot but its like someone charging a quarter to use the damn bathroom. Even when we go dimsum, the most I’ve seen is $ 3 per person for tea but that is GOOD tea. Not out of some bag. Their tea is QUALITY and they don’t even charge that much. My dad was infuriated and told the owner straight to his face he won’t be going there again and will be spreading the word. The owner is freaking out of his mind for charging these kinds of prices and the only people that go here are just white people(no offense) that just don’t know better. I hope the owner or someone who works at this establishment is reading this and takes note to freaking change. LOOK at all the other bad reviews you have. Do you seriously think we’re wrong and you’re right? You’re digging yourself a grave.

My husband and I have been in here two times, and the food was awesome! I can’t believe it has so many bad reviews, since we’ve had good experiences both times. The first time both food and service were stellar! The second time the food was just as great, but the service was less than stellar. However, on the second visit there was only one waitress, and there were a few tables, so I think she was just slammed. If you are looking for inexpensive Chinese/Vietnamese food on the Peninsula, this place is a must. The Phở was easily the best we’ve had in a while, and the crispy scallion cake appetizer was on point. If you’re in Burlingame, check this place out.
