Service was exceptional! Amber was patient and really understood the menu. Margo followed up with support. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the private room was a great offering for our business dinner. We will be back.

Loved this place! Fresh out of the oven soft and delicious garlic loaf with homemade moussy chive butter. Amazing unoaked Chardonnay and absolutely the best chicken I’ve ever had in a restaurant! It was the statler lemon thyme chicken with Swiss chard and garlic mash– delicious! Next time will definitely order a dessert! Really great service as well. Great dining experience, thank you!

The week before Christmas I had just arrived home for my holiday visit. My mom had invited my brother and I out for a night on the town in Burlington and for dinner at EB Strong’s, a restaurant that none of us had been to before. I called at around 5:00 to make a reservation and the host on the phone said he could fit us in but was adamant that we arrived«as soon as we could» and that we had to leave our table by 8:00 to be sure that the 8:30 reservation would have their table prepared. We had no problem with this knowing we didn’t need more than an hour and a half to order and eat so we hopped in the car moments later and were downtown 30 minutes after that. By 6:00 we were on Church Street walking up to EB Strong’s. When we walked in I gave my name to the host, who I had spoken with on the phone, and was given the most incredibly rude interaction of my life. He said that we had come far too late and that he had given the table away. I explained that he told us to «arrive as soon as we could» and that he did not give us an exact time to be there. He said that we should have given him a time… as a host, isn’t it his job to give us a specific time to arrive? We did get there as soon as we could, just like he said to! He then said that it is already nearly 6:30 to which we responded, «It is 6:07…» to where he snapped back«Actually it’s 6:08.» A hostess standing next to him was completely silent as he continued to practically yell at me, my mom and my brother for his own incompetence. I have NEVER been treated like this by a host, especially in what is suppose to be an upscale restaurant, in my entire life. His rude, stubborn attitude and the fact that he felt okay to ridicule and bicker with a customer was absolutely unreal. Thankfully my family has a sense of humor and we laughed it off as we made our way to an amazing dinner at Pascolo’s down the street. I would love to come back to the restaurant and try it out as long as this host is fired. Otherwise, I’ll go over to The Guild for a nice steak and friendly staff.

Stopped by last night for dinner, the surf and turf was awesome. This place is really good and I was surprised how busy it was on a Tuesday. Will definitely return, one of the best in the area.

Best salmon ever! I asked for rare and got rare! That never happens. Wonderful meal, as usual. Best place in Burlington Vt for a steak, and dinner.

6 pm reservations with my UVM student and were never brought the food, ever! They had to leave at 7:40 to go to a party, still no food and waitress didn’t stop to check on us. Manager came after we begged to see her. She didn’t offer any apologies but only offered to comp our $ 400 meal in half. Really? We never saw the food. Horrible experience. Left at 7:50. Very disappointing from a mom who wanted to treat her college student and her friends to a good meal. It didn’t happen. Don’t go here. Ever!

We had a family occasion meeting for dinner at E B Strong in the cellar which was once bank. A very unique experience. The appetizers were excellent especially the cocktail shrimp. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked very tender and very tasty. The salads lacked adequate dressing. Overall an excellent and memorable experience. Highly recommended.

Very disappointed, very. I am a frequent traveler and diner. I went the week of 9⁄24; at the recommendation of the Burlington hotel I was staying at– I asked them for a good place for steak. I ordered one of the specials they had; I figured for a $ 45 cut of beef; that it would be amazing. It was covered is some type of sauce; red — very red; in the middle(I ordered med. rare– not still mooing); and cold. I sent it back; they returned with a filet– not what I ordered. I sent THAT back– it was raw in the middle; and cold. the manager came over with the 3rd return– and I sent that back! I could not believe this– never, ever have I experienced this before. Finally they sent something to my table that was cooked the way I ordered it, med. rare. It took 10 minutes and me getting up to get the condiments I requested– like salt and pepper; and my food got cold — again. I would have expected at the very least my meal would have been comped at that point; or that the manager/owner would have come over to profusely apologize– nothing. Although they did come over and talk loudly to the martini drinking loud mouths next to me. A completely irritating experience and not a place I will revisit. In addition, when I returned to the Hotel Vermont where I was staying, I made sure the entire front desk staff knew about my experience. I like good restaurants, and I enjoy good food. When I want a steak, I want a steak; and for $ 45 for a cut of beef that was supposed to be the«special» — I should have been absolutely ‘wowed”. Instead I was disgusted and upset. Won’t be back.

They serve quite nice foods. We had Mussels for appetizer, filet mignon as entrée, and a lavender pound cake for dessert. Steak was very tender, perfectly medium. They also serve nice bread as pantry. Our waiter was very humorous but he did provide us nice service. I give it a 4 stars

I’m really torn on this review. The food was worthy of 4 stars. The oysters were the best I’ve had in a long time. The steaks themselves were well-seasoned and prepared. The sides were not New York steakhouse worthy but fairly good. What brings down the review was service and ambience. There was no music playing at all so we felt like everyone seated around us could hear every detail of our conversation. Service was slow and indifferent. Took a long time for anyone to come over and drinks took 15 minutes to be filled. I wouldn’t return. For about $ 100 per person, I would hope for way more attentive service.

Full disclosure: we were enthusiastic fans of Church Street Wine Cellars, a joint venture of Kristin Halverson and Marinell Newton. Sad it’s gone. Kristin is now essentially at the helm of her husband’s high-end old-school steak place, and we’ve just returned from a a restaurant-week dinner. That was fabulous. We started with cocktails. I had a marvelous grapefruit-vodka concoction and Joe had their extra-dirty martini, including the brine of olives and pickles. Both were flavorful and skillfully layered. This set the tone for the meal to come. Starters: fantastic crab cakes that, again, had this gorgeous layering of flavors, including a subtle note of bell pepper. Joe had calimari, which is a go-to for him. The panko breading made one wonder: why do them any other way? They were tender with just enough of that chewiness that’s the whole point, right? But not rubbery. We were already full. But we soldiered on. I was trying to remember when I had my first new/old wedge salad. Few years ago. EB Strong’s version features candied lardons of bacon and a tasty blue-cheese dressing. As is the case across the board, you’re getting steak-house favorites with some nice, unique touches. We’re now REALLY full. Main dishes: their much-admired burger – for Joe, who ate half of it before relenting. Their 5-ounce filet was gorgeous. Nicely crusted with salt and pepper. Cooked just right, then rested. Dessert: a chocolate-stout cake with a ganache. I just had a bite(we brought it home, having finally relented). It’ll be awesome at 3 in the morning. They have a terrific wine list. Ours by the glass were yummy and a good value. When you add it up, yes, a pricey night on the town. But excellent value, with every element in place. This includes sturdy flatware and especially nice steak knives; a handsome room; Riedel glassware(this is sort of a thing for me). Oh, and our server, Caitlin. Professional all the way. But also had that sort of authentic enthusiasm for what she was doing and what she was serving. It’s a fine line, but she really balanced it and it was, I think, her authentic admiration for what happens in the kitchen. I worried that there just wasn’t the market for this sort of experience in little ol’ Burlington. I sort of wondered how they’d stayed open for going on 4 years. Now I know. This place is the real deal. I know where I’ll spend my 51st birthday.

This is the best restaurant in Burlington. The service is the best in the area. The waiters seem to anticipate your every need without being around too much. The food is the freshest, most high quality food you can get. Everything is delicious. The atmosphere is elegant and fairly quiet. We have been for Valentine’s Day and a birthday and will definitely go again soon.

Great drink selection, and the Cesar salad, though small portion, was the best one I’ve had in town(and I have had one at just about every restaurant in the downtown area). Great place for appetizers and drinks at the bar — not sure about main dishes and table service as we have heard mixed reviews, but we will be back to the bar!

We stopped in Burlington for a night on our honeymoon roadtrip and had a fantastic dinner at EB Strong’s. It was by far the best meal we had in our weeklong trip. The cocktail was perfect(French 75) and the food was incredible. We started with the calamari, and my wife had the scallops while I had the steak with mashed potatoes. There was nothing left on our plates by the end of the meal. We finished off with the cheesecake in the mason jar. It was a unique presentation and tasted amazing. Will definitely be back here again next time we swing through Burlington.

3 of my friends and I went to EB Strong’s last night craving the Waygo burgers, in which we all ended up ordering after enjoying oysters, calamari and fried oyster sliders(all amazing btw). When we finally got to the main meal… the burgers were absolutely delicious. All 4 were cooked to perfection by Chef Nic., side salads and truffle fries were the perfect serving size to accompany the quite large burger. Of course why stop there, we had to indulge in dessert which consisted of cheese cake… again delicious. The service was on point which I feel is hard to come by these days in Burlington. Was a great experience overall and we will definitely be going back.

Had dinner at EB Strong’s last evening with 5 colleagues and the event was exactly what you would expect from top tier steakhouse. All of the appetizers were very good and well prepared as well as the selection of salads on the menu. Unfortunately they excluded a Caesar Salad for some reason which disappointed a few of my colleagues. Preparation of our entrée where exactly on point, with my Filet Mignon cooked to perfection. Service was excellent and very competent. The one negative that I would mention was that the wine list published on their website was not up to date relative the vintage years of their wines. Otherwise, would highly suggest this establishment.

I had no idea this place had been open for almost 2 years. My expectations were high because it’s owned by Halversons of Burlington, a mainstay for years. I ordered the steak and lobster the steak was okay but the lobster was undercooked and it was a weird presentation. They simply sliced the lobster down the middle without removing the lobster meat which made it very difficult to eat. They did this weird thing with the steak fries I thought I had a plate of bananas the problem is they are so large that they’re not fries at all it’s like cutting into a baked potato. I will definitely go back and give it another try because these are good people and they know what they are doing.

We had a great dinner at EB Strong’s on a Saturday night. Not only do they take reservations which is a huge plus for Burlington, but they accommodate food allergies/intolerances. As a gluten/dairy-sensitive diner, I was able to get their burger and fries(bunless of course) and i was delicious. My boyfriend got their steak and mashed potatoes and cleaned his plate. The atmosphere is great and the staff is super friendly. We will definitely be going back!

Really good meal. I was a bit surprised as this restaurant gets no Burlington love. Waygo Burger was amazing. Great sides and dessert too. Friendly staff. Looking forward to a return trip.

Expensive, but delicious. I would say only come on a special occasion. Everything was scrumptious, properly cooked, and expertly seasoned with great atmosphere. The issue is whether or not all that is worth another $ 100 versus going to other options? Most of the time, it probably isn’t. My wife and I spent $ 240 last night with tip. That’s for two steaks, two salads, two tasty cocktails, two side dishes(family style), one bottle of red(a fruity Argentinian Malbec) and two coffees. No apps. No desserts. And it was slightly better than options such as The Bearded Frog, Starry Night Café and the Kitchen Table. But only slightly better. That same meal is $ 130-$ 150 at those locations. While we enjoyed the entire EB Strong’s experience, it wasn’t $ 100 better than those other options. It is $ 100 better than The Guild. FYI, they have rare Church Street parking. The parking is on Pearl Street and you enter through their back door.
