Seriously so good. Why would anybody stop at Taco Bell or mcdonalds when this is here. Good price and huge portions. The pastor was the perfect amount of spicy. And they made the food really fast.

«Let’s grab a quick bite» Bad idea. I eat at food trucks 2−3x per week as they show up at my company in the valley. The whole idea of a food truck is good quality food… fast. Elsy’s is neither. All four of us were so upset after waiting 30 minutes for five soft tacos, absolutely infuriating. Then, top it off with the cashiers gangsta, rude, bad attitude. When I asked how large something was, she sneered at me and laughed. When I finally got my crappy tacos I asked for two more napkins as there was three of us sharing, she gave me a cold hard stare, sneered again and threw them at me. WT!!! Nasty attitude, she will do that to the wrong person some day. The asada and pollo tacos were dry and you do not get any sour cream or pico de gallo… only this over the top, tasteless, way too spicy sauce that even my ‘I love it hot’ palate could not tolerate. It tasted like habaneros with tomatoes and water thrown into a blender and served. Not tolerable. The ONLY thing good about this experience was the chorizo tacos… they were very tasty. I could have been 40 miles further south in the time it took in waiting for this food. I could have sat IN a Mexican restaurant, ordered and eaten in the time it took to get these five soft tacos. I won’t ever be back

Delicious and filling Mexican/Central-American menu for the road-warriors on highway 5. Worth stopping here instead of a fast-food joint.

It’s always good to get away from the standard fare, but this was pretty normal. My wife and son had grilled chicken salads — chicken was tough and chewy on a bed of iceberg lettuce with tomatoes. I had a chicken burrito — also pretty normal. Overall pretty weak.

I drive often between SF and LA, and I stop by at this place a lot – which tells you how much I like it! It’s like a mirage in the middle of endless lands of dirt and fast food… could it be? – something worth eating along the 350mi drive(besides the fancy Harris Ranch)??? Also, for all the track folks – this is at Buttonwillow!!! Unfortunately I discovered this place after I’ve taken a break from going to the track – but this would be such a great place to go after a long morning of lapping! What I got this time: 1. Pupusa – one pork and one bean and cheese. $ 2.75 each. First off, I’m not Mexican so I do not know what these things are suppose to taste like, so I can’t compare. But the pork one tasted great to me. There’s a good roasted corn taste to the shell, and the insides are nice and savory, with the right amount of grease. I didn’t like the bean and cheese one too much – I dunno why, but the stuffing tasted slightly sour to me. I think it’s the cheese. I didn’t finish that one. But the pork one was great! 4⁄5. 2. Taco(carne asada) $ 1.50. Just a simple taco with 2 small corn shells and the asada stuffing, which was nicely grilled and seasoned, with the right amount of grease. I like. 5⁄5. So, if you’re looking for a break from all the awful food along the 5, this will be your haven! 4⁄5. #Mexican #truck

This taco truck to me is better than most and it’s pretty affordable. Each taco is 1.75 and I tried the lengua and fish taco. The lengua was tasty and was filled with tender meat and spiced well. The fish taco was alright. I wouldn’t buy it again because the texture is more like chicharon(pork skin) and crumbly. I prefer my fish tacos to be more flesh like and not crunchy like chicharon, but even then it was still good. I also ordered a papusa and that one had chicharon in it and it was better and fresher than the papusa place across the way in the other truck. Overall, if I had to choose my lunch and lived in Buttonwillow, I’d go here over Tita’s.

This taco truck is way better than one might expect. Great carnitas. $ 1.50 tacos. Their vegetarian burrito came with cucumbers and peppers and was really fresh and delicious. Covered picnic benches to escape the sun. Great pit stop on the I-5 beat.

Elsy’s is a very good taco joint and a major upgrade from the usual fast food junk along I-5 and you’ll end up paying about the same or even less. Plus no funny service crap like Tita’s across the way. The birria and carnitas were both excellent, the al pastor not so much. The #6 combo(3 tacos and rice/beans) is a good deal. Will be back.

Best little lunch spot on the I5! Delicious and cheap and not fast food. Support a local food truck. Hint: avoid the beef and go for the carnitas.

Eh, if you like your carnitas crispy, skip across the street and go to Tita’s. We were on our way back from L.A. and had planned to stop at Tita’s for our carnitas and pupusas fix. While in Arco, the man was told that the food was better at Elsy’s so we decided to go there instead. Bad decision. While it wasn’t horrible, I had my heart set on Tita’s and this certainly was not Tita’s.

A great spot to stop off HWY5 near Bakersfield. Their enchiladas verde was awesome! One of the best taco trucks I have stopped at ever. I will certainly be back next time I pass through on the 5.

They set up a more permanent location in the Arco parking lot and they now have a good size, covered, outdoor seating area where we can sit and enjoy this delicious food! Try the pupusas– they take a little longer, but they are worth the wait! Oh yeah, and their hours now say they are open ’til 2!
