We happened in on a Friday at 2. There was a line, you must wait outdoors in the line until a table opens up. No reservations. There were 3 picnic tables outdoors, we nabbed one and sat with strangers. It was fun! They were tired locals. As it turns out, they have daily lunch specials. Friday was… fried shrimp & fish or shrimp and included: — tons in seafood — fries — hush puppies — coleslaw — sweet tea For $ 8.00 This is why it was packed on a Friday at 2pm. Everyone enjoyed lunch. It was mostly fried foods, FYI.

Clean plate club — senior size fried 3 combo: shrimp, oysters, fish– Need I say more?! Ok I will– it’s the locals’ favorite but some don’t believe it. Well why are all those folks standing outside in line esp in the summer?! Tho not today but a good crowd. Maybe it’s January but the fried oysters were very special but best of all was the flounder! Moist and tasty! Don’t go anywhere else for traditional Calabash style!

Always enjoy this little hidden gem in Calabash. Great lunch specials, awesome staff. If you want quality seafood at the not so high prices, this is your joint. Come early, as space as the limited. Enjoy

We got takeout seafood for lunch and it was awesome. My wife and I shared the next to largest platter(regular) with fish, shrimp, oysters and a deviled crab. We got an extra side of fries and slaw and we had plenty to share. We really loved it and it was just what we were looking for for a casual beach lunch. The staff was really friendly and helpful to confirm that our selection would be good to share. You can ask for whatever sauces you need for them to pack for your to-go order, too. Their sweet tea is also great! There is a takeout window just to the right of the front door. Inside, it is very spartan and tight, so it’s best to order that the window and wait on the benches. Thank you!

Great price for lunch specials. True calabash style! A little cramped at busy times but worth it.

First time eating here and I was not disappointed. I had fried oysters and fried scallops, probably the best I’ve ever eaten and I’ve eaten a lot of oysters and scallops. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

First time visit to the Pulaski deli, but won’t be my last. Awesome pierogi, kielbasa and cabbage rolls. Can’t wait to try other options.

I would give this place six stars if I could. Or maybe seven. Calabash Seafood Hut was most definitely the dining highlight of my family’s vacation. The hush puppies: Prior to our visit here, I have never in my life had a hush puppy that I liked. Never. But I loved these! Wow! The clam strips: My daughter and I both had an order of the large clam strips. It came with a HUGE portion of clams and just a few fries. Perfect! Honestly, I was not there for the french fries. It also came with some very good coleslaw. I was shocked at how generous they were with the clams, especially compared to the more-than-reasonable price. We definitely got enough for two meals, but they weren’t nearly as good warmed up the next day. If we ever make it down here again, I would get the smaller order or clam strips. The«Deluxe»: My husband wanted some variety, so he chose the Deluxe. It comes with fish, shrimp, oyster, scallops, and devil crab. The waitress was very accommodating when he asked to have clams instead of the oysters. He loved everything. He was also kind enough to let my daughter and me try bits of what he got and everything was excellent. Dawn: Out waitress was Dawn. I specifically asked for her name because I wanted to mention her here. She was flat out one of the best servers I’ve ever had at any restaurant anywhere. She was so friendly, and even though the place was very busy, she went above and beyond in every possible way. She turned our awesome meal into an awesome event. The décor: Pretty much as plain as you can get, but frankly, who cares? It’s a casual beach restaurant. We weren’t there for the décor any more than we were there for the french fries.

This place is awesome. My wife wanted to eat at the Boundary House because it has a more upscale look. But the wait was 45 minutes. We were able to walk right in here, and we were glad we did. The seafood was delicious. Flounder, shrimp, oysters and deviled crab piled high on the plate and served with slaw and fries. It was a prodigious amount of delicious food, all at an extremely reasonable price. Service was fast and efficient.

Not sure what all the hype is about. Maybe perfect for take out, but why eat in? My calabash shrimp was nothing special. I wouldn’t return.

While In Calabash for a wedding we visited this place after a long drive when we got into town. The food was spectacular. All seafood in Calabash is good, but the prices of the dishes here and the quality of the food brought us back for a second visit even though we were only in town for 3 days and wanted to try as many places as possible. We had a condo within walking distance and took food to go both times. The fried shrimp and the deviled crab were particularly good. If you are in Calabash this place is a must visit

This has been a staple in our beach vacation for 20 years. It never disappoints. Among all the options in the area, this is what makes Calabash seafood«Calabash seafood.» As others have stated, plan to get here at off peak times or you’re sitting out on the bench waiting for a table. Take out is just as good of an option; there’s picnic tables you can eat at or take it to as shady spot with a nice view.

Overrated. High prices, small portions, long wait time sitting directly in the sun and sides are average at best. The mains like shrimp and fish are really good but don’t dictate all the others.

We stopped for lunch on our last day at the beach at Ocean Isle just up the coast from Calabash. SO worth the stop, was the best seafood we had the whole time we were there. If you have a chance, go at lunch time close to when they open, we walked right in, and each got the lunch plate with clams, crab and shrimp. Was more than enough food for each of us for just $ 8(included a drink). I can’t wait to get back to Calabash and go here again!

The dining area is small and cramped. Prices aren’t bad for the portions served. The clams were good and the flounder was excellent but the hush puppies were horriable. I believe they serve alot of bagged, frozen foods here… you’d think being next to the water that they would serve something fresh? Not a horriable experience but I’d look elsewhere for seafood…

Took a quick little trip up to Calabash for lunch here. Got the oyster sandwich and it was really good. A big portion of fresh oysters, fried crispy but not tough and pile on bun. Simple and perfect. Fries were ok, just the crinkle cut frozen kind. For to-go orders, the walk-up window is pretty handy and orders come out pretty quickly.

This place is excellent. We discovered the Calabash Seafood Hut years ago when we arrived in town for our week at the beach slightly before friends. We were on a 2 hour wait at the Boundary House and they got in line at the Seafood Hut. We were still on a wait to spend $$ at the Boundary house while our friends were in and out of the Seafood Hut. After hearing their raving over how good the food was(and how much more reasonably priced), we tried it ourselves. Everything was excellent and now we look forward to the Seafood Hut during every trip to the area. Some of the most noteworthy menu items are the fried oysters, the fried shrimp, and the deviled crab. Tonight we tried the calm chowder(New England), and it was excellent and a great portion. My kids love the corndogs, which are dipped in the hushpupply batter and fried. As others mentioned, during busy times, tables are on a first come /first served basis and the line is outside, often wrapped around the building. Take this into consideration, but either way the food at the Seafood Hut is worth it.

This was the first seafood place we went to on vacation and sadly it was a huge disappointment. We searched reviews and saw some people really loved it so we decided to try it out. Just think of… A geriatric Long John Silvers with a side of nasty fish skin. We got the deluxe platter to split between my husband and I. The food was bland, oily, and soggy. The fried fish had a slimy skin on it too. Also their seating was confusing. If they are full and haven’t tables you must wait outside on a bench and they will let you in once a table is ready but unfortunately there isn’t anyone to tell you that so you stand around while locals cut in front of you just because you don’t know their routine. The customer service was most excellent though. Our server was kind and very considerate to our young kids, but unfortunately the food was disgusting. I do NOT recommend.

Our family has been going to the Seafood Hut for maybe 10 years. Every year we look forward to eating out at the Hut, but the past few years we have been disappointed! Each time we leave thinking maybe next time will better. Sadly, the meal we just ate will be our last! We ordered the seafood deluxe platter– for $ 16.50. The price has gone up in the last year. You do get a lot of food– but there was so much grease it was like we got a side of oil with our platter! The food was bland, not very tasty, and definitely greasy. Our favorite of the platter was the Calabash shrimp– but they weren’t enough to make up for the rather tasteless hush puppies, fries, and drenched oysters. Bye Skee-food Hut(as we used to call it when we were kids!) :’(

I don’t agree with the reviews of frozen seafood, Calabash is home of the Calabash style shrimp. Why would this restaurant have survived since the 60s then. For what it is down home seafood hut i think it’s great
