Best French toast I have ever had! Their service is outstanding as soon as you walk in you get greeted and seated. Most of the time there is no wait even when they are packed! The food comes out very quickly and I have never been disappointed. Aunt Sally’s is my #1 breakfast place to go.

Been going here for years and always great service and the biscuits and gravy are the best aside from my own southern recipe but I’m not open for business anyway. When our daughter was little she loved it there so much and wanted to grow up to be a waitress there. FYI, we dodged a bullet and she is now a career woman, wife and mommy… Whew! Everything they have is good and reasonably priced. Wish we didn’t move so far away but we make our way there when we’re up that way. My personal promise is you will enjoy anything you order from Aunt Sally’s

Family owned business and the customer service alone deserves five stars. My family and I come here frequently for breakfast and each time we are greeted as if we are special. The owner and wait staff are very friendly. The place is small but makes you feel like your at a friends house for breakfast. The food is good and the prices are not pricey. Great place!

The service itself is 5 stars. Not sure if the guy we encountered was the owner, but he was awesome! I could write a 5 page review of all the subtle sweet things I noticed him doing but I’ll try to keep it brief. I’m not familiar with the area so went on Unilocal and this place showed up. Granted it was 10 in the morning so I’m assuming that’s why it was a much older crowd. It seen many people knew each other and the waitress’s were friendly and the service was fast. I ordered the omelet which came with hash browns and a side of pancakes. It wasn’t spectacular, but for the price it was a steal. My friend ordered a skillet and he said it was good. The best part of the meal was at the end. When my friend went to pay for it the owner guy was so sweet and joked around with him how he should keep me happy and he has a good woman(flattery will get you everywhere) lol. The sweetest part was when I noticed they had the quarter candy machines and I wanted to revisit memory lane. When the owner saw me at the machine he ran out to give me some free airhead candies. So sweet! Not to mention we saw him wait by the door to help an elderly lady with a walker in. The saying is so true«the real you is who you are when people aren’t watching» this guy is a true gentlemen. Decent food, but even better service.

For the service alone, Aunt Sallys get’s 4 stars. My father recommended this place for me to try, which was not too far from his home. The food for me was ok. I order french toast, eggs, bacon and hash browns, which all came very fast. It was tasty, but not anything outstanding. Maybe I should have gotten the pancakes. My hubby’s food look great as well(omelet with hash browns). He said that he really enjoyed it. Coffee was alright. The service was OUTSTANDING! We were greeted so well when we walked through the door. He greeted us, asked us about our holiday and shook my hubby’s hand; so respectful! The wait server was nice and was very attentive, but did not overdo it. Other servers who came by also asked if we needed anything, if when they were not assigned to our table. Just really great customer service. Décor is older, but everything was clean. We did not have a wait time at all, but it was early on Black Friday; people were out shopping. It was buzzing but not packed.

Great fast friendly service. The owner was so personable and good with the customers and kids. The environment was so comfortable and warm. Everyone was so nice and easy to chat with. The server, Laura was excellent. Ask for her when you visit. My son and I will go there again and again. I even told friends and family about this place and our first time there was yesterday. Definitely a gem in the community. Kudos Aunt Sally’s staff.

The food here is bland. There are plenty of other family restaurants in the area to go to. The main reason me and my fiancé won’t go there again is food poisoning. My fiancé ordered the ribeye steak. It arrived at our table a light grey color as if they cooked it in a microwave or something. It didn’t look appetizing. He took a bite and said it tasted off. I tried the steak and the meat was spoiled! How could they serve bad meat to a customer?!? Considering how long this restaurant has been here you would think the cook would know better. My mistake to assume. We now only order steak from an actual steak house. In my opinion just skip this place and drive a few blocks down the road to the other family restaurant.

Blue hair heaven. Guess when we get older we all have to have our hangout. The food is some of the blandest food you will taste. Service is ok. Don’t really think going in that you will get catered to or made to feel special. Take your grandparents and all that seems to change. Sad really.

I had some time to kill after my set up at south suburban college and I was searching for a good bfast place … I was driving around when I came across this place. The parking lot was packed so I figured hmm this place must be good so I got in and I was greeted with a happy face and seated right away. My waitress Jessica was very attentive and my food came fast. The menu said no substitutions but I made substitutions Nd they made it happen for me. Food was great and coffee was goood too. Budget is very handsome as well. Highly recommended.!!

This place is a little gem along the South Burnham Avenue corridor of Calumet City. Given their impetuous natures and line of «work,» I bet that Jake and Elwood would have visited Aunt Sally’s many a time while on their adventures. They would have known each of the mother-like waitresses’ names by heart. This was my first time here. For direct comparison I had been to Ted’s(southwest corner of 152nd Street and South Burnham Avenue, near St. Victor R.C. church) several times. While Ted’s is a Greekateria with generous portions, Aunt Sally’s is not Greek-owned. I was fine with the portions presented. Americans are way too damned obese anyhow. The fact that the lot was packed says a lot to me. I was able to find a spot right by the building and there is additional parking by the Walgreens. My party of two was seated immediately and our waitress, Julie, knew her stuff. We never had to fight for her attention, even once. She even brought extra napkins without us asking for them. Julie understands what the role of a server is, to her very core. The scrambled eggs were light and fluffy, the hash browns were not greasy and the bacon was crispy and cooked to order. The hot cocoa was chocolatey and Julie brought the whipped cream on the side, as requested, with rolling her eyes or acting weird. The food was out within five or six minutes of us ordering it. The restrooms were clean. I would fully agree with others with the notion that the place is tight. However, that is so because it is popular, not because the building is necessarily tiny. This is not the type of place where you’d bring the family to celebrate a birthday with a large party. The décor is just«there» and is not meant to create a particular theme, in general, although it was decorated for Christmas. I would hope that the owners would consider expanding their menu to include gluten free choices, like waffles and pancakes, on their breakfast menu. The same can be said of sandwiches for the lunch portion. Julie even tried to comfort me when I told her about my wheat and gluten issues! Also, I am not sure if there is free wi-fi at Aunt Sally’s. If not, I would also suggest that the owners get on that. If you are in Calumet City and hungry, I would not hesitate to give Aunt Sally’s a try. Anecdotally, Aunt Sally’s is a completely different operation from the«Grandma Sally’s» restaurants that used to be or are in the Chicago area.

Aunt Sally’s is our favorite local breakfast joint. I’ve been coming here since I was a young girl — my grandpa would bring me for early Sunday breakfast. It’s true that the décor hasn’t changed much in 30 years but its a cute, clean, simple local breakfast joint. The food and service are always good; the food is incredibly affordable and plentiful. I go there with my husband and kids now and we all love it. It’s family-owned and Denny, the owner, always has a smile and a kind word for everyone. He also never forgets to slip some candy to my kids at the end of the meal even if they haven’t quite achieved the ‘clean plate club’. Good cheap food, locally owned small business, friendly service that goes the extra mile. No pretention, just a great breakfast.

All in all, good food and great atmosphere. This cozy, family owned restaurant somehow manages to operate at full capacity Despite the restaurants 3:00pm closing time. Being that Aunt Sally’s is such a popular restaurant given its extensive menu choices and generally positive ambiance, there was a wait for seating. Not only was the restaurant crowded, but so was the parking lot. I will never understand why they decided to tack on another parking lot across the street, I’m pretty certain that the maximum spillage from the parking lot that is Their specials and combos are really delicious and a great deal. I had a huge omelet, pancakes and hash browns for roughly 7 dollars. My boyfriend ordered biscuits and gravy and really seemed to enjoy it. The only problem for us was the sheer amount of food. Our bills combined were just shy of fourteen dollars. The menu consists of a variety of average breakfast and lunch items, but for what you pay, and the amount of food you get, it is completely worth it. The service is quick and friendly, as well. My waitress was always there to refill my coffee as soon as it was empty, and was very good at chatting with me.

While waiting in a long line in Cal City a gentleman explained he, «got there quite early, put his name on the list and headed to Aunt Sally’s, it is the best breakfast around.» This may be true. That would be a shame. As other Unilocalers have noted, short hours and crowded. 6am to 3pm. We strolled in at 11, the place was busy. Decorated in the ducks and bunnies theme of faux country circa nineteen eighty six, I wedged my way into a booth that was shockingly tight. I am by no means a large guy and my knees were smashed into the table leg. Tables are a bit crowded, maybe because it is so busy, this way they can sneak a few more desperate eaters in before they close at 3. We ordered coffee, the special,(country fried steak w/biscuits and gravy, eggs and pancakes), and two eggs with biscuits and gravy.(we like our biscuits). The eggs were very small mediums I would guess, they also did not stand tall like a very fresh egg should do. The gravy was pasty, the steak had a pungent flavor, hash browns were slimy and colorless, the pancakes were odd. It took a second or too to place the odd flavor. The syrup was some bullshit nasty ass flavored syrup, absolutely inedible. I think hazelnut was the flavor they were searching for, but they were only able to achieve assnut. The coffee cup was chipped, it was also dark brown, I find dark brown cups unappetizing, but thats me. I was again reminded, never take advice from a Hoosier about where to eat in your territory. Damn Hoosiers! If you want to be cramped, served really low quality grub check out Aunt Sally’s.

Been here once and there’s really nothing that impressed me here. I prefer teds to here. The staff is nice, when we went there during the week it wasn’t crowded. We were seated right away. Prices are ok.
