I’ve been coming here since I was a little one. My grandmother has been in the neighborhood for practically my whole life. Great breakfast diner with reasonable prices and good food. We probably visit this spot once every other month or so and its always cool to have staff know you by name — even when you don’t frequent as much. Keep up the great work guys!

The food and service here were both good. However, the décor is run down and the seating is so tight it’s hard to sit down and there’s hardly any elbow room. Prices are reasonable, portions are big and it’s a nice go-to breakfast spot, especially on the south side of the city. They don’t have splenda, but the owner went to get some for me when I asked for a coffee.

Eggshack is okay, but it’s certainly not a 4−½ star establishment I can tell you that. There’s way better places to get a good breakfast in the Chicago area than Eggshack. I would rather go to Lumes on Western Ave. than here. Besides the food just being mediocre, why the f— is this place so drafty? If you stop in here in the middle of winter don’t plan on taking off your coat unless you want to freeze your a– off! Turn up the heat for God’s sake! Also watching the guys clean the tables in this place I question their cleanliness.

Looking at all the good reviews I hate to be the barrel of bad news. I’m not a fan of this joint. My husband and I went this morning for breakfast. Grits was watery, eggs and sausage overdone and the pancakes didn’t really have flavor. I observed the guy clearing and cleaning the tables off. He does not remove the coffee cups if they haven’t been turned over with coffee in it. To me that’s gross. Because like myself, I move the coffee cups. So if I touch them with my germs, and splash food on the cups so do other people. I was wondering y one of our cups had some marks on them. Watching him clean now I know y. They don’t clean like they should. I won’t go back.

I lOVE THISPLACE!!! Great food, pleasant service, and nice to take the family. I’ve had everything from Eggs n pancakes to Philly sandwiches, to the fish. Never a disappointment! My kids love their home made spaghetti. Their extensive menu has something for everyone. The owners are so inviting, making us feel like family! Definitely our go to restaurant!

The eggs are fluffy, the soup is savory, and the omelets are so meaty. I can’t say enough about how gooooooood the food is and now they opened the lucky lounge!!! There isn’t enough time in the day to enjoy yourself at this place.

Can I give this place more than 5 stars please!!! Favorite spot for breakfast, hands down. Great ambiance and staff! Can’t say enough good things about the Egg Shack! Do your self a favor and ask for the hash browns hooked up. Trust me. And What’s in these pancakes??? More like crack cakes

One of my favorite breakfast spots. I have tried almost every breakfast item in the menu. Ham on bone and pork chop breakfast is a must try. Steaks are good as well. Nice portions and the staff is friendly.

Eggshack is found right off the highway on the stretch of 127th St called Obama Drive. Back in 2010 it was the first street in the country to be named after President Obama. I found the shack thanks to the Chef at Frontera Grill. According to my chef the shack has the best ham on the bone in Chicagoland. I take his wisdom to heart– I brought my girl down. The eggs were perfectly cooked, potatoes crispy on the outside, and chef was right. The ham on the bone was worth the trip– meaty but tender and full of hammy flavor. Best I have had. The ladies who work there are great too.

Hands down the best breakfast spot I’ve been to in a LONG time!!! I spend tons of time in the loop and downtown areas and time after time my girlfriend and I marvel over the fact that there is no place that can put breakfast together as well as The Eggshack. One day when your goin down I-57 dont be afraid to pull off @ 127th st. and give it a shot, greasy, yummie, and quick all the key things you want for a slamming start to your day!
