My husband and I on a road trip to the Central Coast and needed a place to stop and have breakfast. Easy to get to from the freeway and serves an excellent breakfast. We felt we stumbled across a quaint gem of a restaurant filled with the locals! Service in addition to the food was excellent !

I stopped in to grab breakfast here before my work shift. I’m giving one star mainly because the person who took my Togo order this morning was very sweet and was nice enough to ask if I wanted jam with my biscuit that came with my egg breakfast. I was charged $ 8.50 for egg whites, cottage cheese, and a biscuit and when I opened my order I was shocked. The picture I’ve included is seriously such a weak attempt at breakfast. I’m sure other things on their menus are better. But don’t bother trying if you are looking for a healthy filling breakfast of egg whites here because you will literally only receive a small egg white and be over charged for it. Literally pathetic.

With all the options available why bother with this place? The food is mediocre, ambience old, price is not compatible with what you get, service slow and not too friendly. My advice: Pass

Not Bad but then again Not great either. Waitress was friendly but the food was generic and you could tell that costs were cut quality wise to make it. For the prices they present the food should be better quality. The only reason for the 2 star review would be the kind staff and the quickness and attentiveness and because their eggs were on point. I should have just ordered eggs and nothing else haha.

This is a true treasure, hole in the wall place. The staff is very accommodating, and pleasant to be around. The décor is very neat, and brought back memories of my teenage years with some of the snarky stickers they had on the wall. The food was very good, and made very quickly. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars, was for two reasons. 1. It is cash only. They do have an ATM, but it charges $ 3.50 to use. I didn’t notice it outside the restaurant, only when I went to pay. 2. No childrens menu. We had three children and two adults dine in, and it was $ 61.00 for breakfast. That’s kind of a lot. I would go back with just my husband and myself, because the food was good(totally better than an IHOP or Denny’s). Make sure you go with cash in hand, and maybe have your children split meals.

Stop here for breakfast, it was close to the outlet store. Simple menu but they do everything well. Your not going to walk out of here thinking, Wow that was great, but you won’t go away hungry or saying the food sucked. Well worth the stop if you are in the area, but it would be great if they took a real good look at themselves and kick it up a notch. The one thing that was really good was the biscuit. Tall, almost like a pound cake, but real good.

This is my absolute favorite breakfast place in old town Camarillo. I order the blueberry french toast every single time with a side order of jalapeño bacon(best bacon ever)

Expect slow service and a divey ambiance. Cash only establishment. Plenty of old-timers who have been coming here forever but not many young faces. This place definitely caters to the seniors crowd, even having a seniors discount. Large portions though, but the quality of the food itself could be improved. It’s the type of play you’d expect in a small town but I can’t see them standing up to the new restaurants coming into the area.

Was pleasantly surprised how great the breakfast was. I have frequented the Waypoint Café, Jessica’s, Hidden Café, and Eggs N Things. Dorothy’s Chuck Wagon is by far the best quality and best tasting. The coffee was excellent(much better than Waypoint), the blueberry toast was amazing, and the Portuguese sausage was the best I’ve tasted. I am not so sure about all the political messages posted on the walls, but I will be returning! I highly recommend this restaurant as the best breakfast in Camarillo. The service was top notch too. Now I do not have to travel to Oxnard or Ventura to get a tasty breakfast.

Styrofoam meltdown!!! Ordered takeout and the food melted the styrofoam! Goes to show how unmindful these ppl are. On top of that, the potatoes were burnt. I refuse to give them anymore of my business. Not going back here!!!

An old time local hangout. Since breakfast is breakfast and Camarillo has a 14 way tie for the worst breakfast in town, Dorothy’s is my choice for number 1. It’s as average as every other place in town.

Long wait for outside table. Brought us ice tea’s. Very nice however the tea tasted old. We can forgive a lot of things. A deal breaker for us is the ice tea. We ended up no eating there. The staff was very apologetic but after an hour couldn’t wait anymore. We paid for the tea and left.

This is one of my favorites in Camarillo. Great food. Awesome family atmosphere. Old style diner with bumperstickers and funny signs everywhere. Favorite: jalapeño bacon breakfast with pumpkin cranberry pancakes!

Nice lunch spot, with more clever signs on the wall than you can read in a dozen visits. Good«seniors» soup and half sandwich. Free dessert of the day with lunch(delicious thick moist chocolate cake on my day there). Small, and closes at 2pm each day. Good attentive service.

Ambiance– Reminded me of a family run business which was nice. Very well staffed. Everyone was friendly. They accommodated my family and made room for a baby seat. The restaurant was very clean. The bathroom was small. Be forewarned, they only accept cash. Presentation of food– Orders were taken quickly and out waitress had really good knowledge of the food available. The food came quickly and was as ordered. Entrée 1 was a breakfast burrito. The burrito looked small but was delicious. Orange juice was drank with this meal. It was good. Entrée two was the jalapeño bacon, over hard eggs, a buttermilk pancake, an wheat almond pancake, and potatoes. Everything was amazing. The wheat almond pancake was the best and I highly recommend trying it. I drank coffee with my food. The coffee was OK. Entrée three was turkey maple sausage, over easy eggs, potatoes, and a biscuit. The turkey maple sausage was awesome. It is highly recommended. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The potato’s were delicious. The biscuit was OK. It was rather bland and did not seed cooked all the way at the bottom. Nothing was greasy. Decaffeinated coffee was drank with this meal and it was acceptable. Entrée four was the chicken fried steak, potatoes, toast, and scrambled eggs. The chicken fried steak and the gravy was delicious. The potatoes were great. The toast was toast. Nothing special. The scrambled eggs were great. Apple juice was drank with this meal and it was OK. Overall we loved the restaurant, its staff, the food, and the ambiance. This restaurant is highly recommended.

As far as diners go, I would give it a 4 stars for tacky character… but the food is mediocre. Definitely wouldn’t recommend any of the Mexican food, but the American stuff is alright. The SOS half order was still more than I could eat. The chocolate chip pancakes tasted like the mixture wasn’t fully blended. My almond pancakes were incredible. The smoothies are not worth ordering. The orange juice is real, definitely try that! –Rayce #TheLifestyleNotTheLabel
