The reason for one star: imagine my shock and horror that this location is now a thing of the past. ITCLOSED. The next closest store to me is Manhattan Beach. Seriously? Why did they close this store? I am not happy. While this place doesn’t have many reviews, I can assure you the store was always bustling with customers. I give up; I don’t understand what causes a store to close. If the regional management think their money making abilities will go up because more people will buy online, guess again. I refuse to pay their ridiculously priced shipping costs knowing full well this store in Camarillo had no GOOD reason for closing… they have now lost a customer, and I’m pretty sure, I’m not alone.

While I like the food product from Harry and David, this review is for the specific location at the Camarillo Premium Outlets. I was in the mall a couple of months ago and wondered in for my usual fix of various snack mixes(Hoot n Holler, Rice Cracker, etc.) and Moose Munch when I came across a book on the history of Harry and David. It was a well done coffee table variety that would make a thoughtful gift for some friends of mine. That was the good. Unfortunately, they only had 1. And there goes the bad. I spoke with a male manager about the book and asked if any more would come in. To my disappointment, the book was discontinued and he only had 2 copies. The floor display and one in the back that was marked out of stock as a prize for an employee. Back to the good, the manager agreed to swap the fingered copy on the floor for the new and sealed version in the back. Yeah my team and thank you H&D manager. He asked if he could have my name and number that if any more come in, I would receive a call. Gold star for that. Wait for it. Wait for it. A few months passed with no call and I had mostly forgotten about my gift ideas until I was back in Camarillo and stopped into the store for my fix. Yep, you guessed it, a pile of shiny, brand new books just waiting to be read. Yet, no call from the store. With sales down in retail everywhere, I would assume the manager, who knew I wanted 2 more copies, would have made the effort to gain the $ 40 sale and keep me coming back. For that, we’ll have to wait and see.

Yum, the most expensive fruit on the planet. Part of me does not understand why I like the fruit from Oregon(I think), when I live here in CA and we grow so much. But it is great. My personal favorite is chocolate covered cherries: not the old gooey kind, with indegestible maraschino cherries, like I used to get as a kid, but the really expensive kind of bing cherries covered in dark chocolate so they look like giant M&M’s. People here are fun, and they like to give samples. Yes, I want one of those heavenly truffles. And Moose Munch, who thought that one up. Oh, I forgot I started my diet yesterday. I’ll just stash those cherries till I’m starving for something sweet. When I was there was right before a Food and Wine Festival at the store at the end of Aug. If that is an annual event, it could be fun, with wine tasting, food samples, live bands, chef demos, and savings. I may try it again next year!

Have you ever tried the dark chocolate moose munch? No… well find your nearest Harry and David and give it a whirl! Yummy, caramel corn with almonds, and all of it dipped in dark chocolate. I was seriously eating this mess like every day… which may or may not explain me not fitting into my jeans from one week to the next! P. S. They also have tons of other yummy candies, fruits, and nuts!
