I’m soooo sad that they closed! Sabres was one of my favorite restaurants. AMAZINGFOOD!

Went November 13 for dinner and the place is officially closed for business. Wish I got to try before they shut down.

CLOSED! You’d think it would be the responsibility of the restaurant to inform customers of this information especially when you’re on an app such as Unilocal.Rather they’d prefer us to drive to the location and find out on our own.

This is the only Peruvian place I’ve ever been to that doesn’t have Lomo Saltado! Also our waitress read us the specials only to come out a few minutes later and tell us the specials were not available as they were not ready yet. They didn’t have either of the Peruvian beers listed on the menu. The sandwiches and soup we got were pretty good but overall I was disappointed with the lack of selection.

This place is perfect for a quick lunch or a nice spot to relax with a nice atmosphere and a friendly environment. This café has a real nice mama pop feel to it. Cozy and cute and the service is great. I got the asado sandwich and the desserts are amazing!

I have seen this place dozens of times but I never went in. Finally today I made the effort to go in since I had been wanting to try it. Luckily it wasn’t crowded so we were seated very quickly. The restaurant isn’t very big but they have a decent amount of seating with indoor and outdoor areas. I ordered the Vuelve la Vida which was a seafood cocktail and it was really good. I especially liked the little flatbreads they give with it. The cocktail wasn’t large but it’s probably the size people should eat. Also, the juice inside was very good. I also had a bite of the Asado sandwich which was also good and a descent size but they only give you a choice of chips or fruit as your side which didn’t seem Peruvian to me. We ordered a potato appetizer which was covered in a mayo/mustard sauce and came with salsa. the potatoes were cold which is how they make it I guess but it was just an okay dish and I wouldn’t order that again. The waiter was nice and the restaurant seemed clean. I give this place a solid 3.5 stars because the potato appetizer wasn’t impressive, the lack of creativity on the side dish, and it’s a little pricey. It was a little expensive but overall I liked the food and would come back again to explore the menu more. One recommendation to the owner — your business hours on Unilocal,Google, and on your store front don’t match. you might want to get that fixed.

The fish was fresh, patio lovely and staff very gracious. We had a great meal. The cebiche recipe was to die for. Can’t wait to come back and try more!

I was driving to get on the 101 freeway and the«Peruvian café» caught my eye– I love Peruvian food, but not successful in finding a Peruvian restaurant in SFV. Anyway decided to return back the weekend after shopping Camarillo outlets and so happy I did. The food is excellent!!! We started with the empanadas. So good! I had the asada sandwich. It was so good, but I didn’t like the chips that came with sandwich. A Peruvian sandwich but regular chips? My husband had a dish not on the menu, but it was the lunch special on the Saturday we went. It was rice n shrimp dish. The rice was so amazing and we finished off with the Peruvian cookies. Awesome!!! I am going back to take my daughter for her birthday !!

Sabores Café(Peruvian): had the best cilantro/shrimp paella on Ventura Blvd last night and a wonderful experience talking and learning with the server. If you haven’t tried this wonderful little treasure, please do, you won’t be disappointed! The food and service are exceptional. I found this place by using my Ventura Axxess card, I would have never stumbled in for dinner otherwise. What a sweet surprise!

Came here for the first time today with my mom. I have been anxious to try this place for months. We walk in and are greeted and seated. As we glance the menu i see many yummy choices. I decide on a sandwich with beef. My mom chooses the turkey. We both choose a side of fruit. We order and our food comes out timely. First I get the aroma of the warm beef. Mmmm. I can’t wait to bite into it. After I do I am pleasantly surprised. The soft bread and the warm tasty meat. I enjoyed my meal very much and so did my mom. The chili sauce served with the sandwich was the bomb. I added it to my sandwich and it was a bit spicy with an explosive flavor of goodness. We didn’t have dessert but maybe nex time. Our server was wonderful, friendly and nice. Cute place that offers beer, wine and sangria. Also espresso and cappuccino. I will be back again!

Hit up Sabores Café a couple times with my Peruvian friend, who definitely knows her Peruvian food! I would gladly go back because they have fresh seafood in the dishes I have had! I love the fresh taste of ceviche and Sabores has plenty to choose from. Vuelva a la Vida and the Mixto were two of the dishes we noshed on. Fresh and well seasoned. Left you feeling like you could eat more food since it was so light and refreshing! Trio de Causitas. Chilled octopus was definitely our favorite, but the others taste great too! The most recent time I was there I ordered, after much consideration, Tacu Tacu Vegetariano Seafood. So many different flavors and filling. I think that must be what I enjoy the most about eating at Sabores: the food is incredibly well-flavored, fresh and light. I never leave there regretting what I ate!

We’ve always talked about going to this place since we pass by it a lot, so today was the day to try it out. I ordered the asado sandwich & my boyfriend got the Cebiche. The meat in my sandwich was pretty bland. The sauce that they used made up for it. I’m not a fan of ceviche, but the dish that they had here was very delicious. We got it medium and the spice of the dish wasn’t overwhelming at all. For dessert we got the miloja dish since it was the only thing that seemed«new» to us(new as in something we’ve never seen at other ethnic restaurants, ie: flan). It’s pretty much phillo dough & dulce de leche served with ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate. Very yummy! I would’ve given another star, but it took so long for our food to get served. Not bad, but not spectacular.

I’m five-starring Sabores Café for over-all flavor. Chef needs to pump the brakes on the sodium… but, it must be noted, I’m sensitive to the stuff. This is THE place I would take visiting friends and family. The appetizers /the tuna/chicken/squid mixed with mayo{?} on top of fluffy cupcakes(I’m dumbin’ it down y’all) was pure heaven. The chiccilantro was smokin’ delish. It’s a great looking joint. Very cozy. Finally– authentic ethnic cuisine lands in Ventura County. I am running away from the sushi and phở brothels ! Did I mention the horrible Chinese confunderings here in Oxnard? My in-laws are Taiwanese chefs. The pathetic offerings of Chinese food here in town is absurd. I eat better at home! I’m from San Gabriel! This village needs a come-to-Jesus foody awakening! Bring on the Spice! Yeah we can all grab a taco BUT Peruvian food(Sabores) yum yum yum. Back to Sabores… the service was slow. But I could tell that the darn chef was fussing over all the details when that plate hit the table. Thank you Oh Auspicious Culinary God for Sabores!

Came here for lunch w a girl friend of mine. Sat outside on their patio. Cute little place with outdoor seating and some umbrellas. Tried the PALTARELLENA which is basically a stuffed avocado. We opted to try one with roasted chicken and the other w vegetables. The chicken one had good flavor, a little dry but savory. The vegetable one had some corn in it and the color was kind of pink… I think because of beets or something? Pretty good — under seasoned slightly, but both tasted good with the aji sauce that they provided alongside the dish. That SAUCE was the highlight! Not my favorite dish but with the sauce, it was good. ASADOROASTBEEFSANDWICHCOMBO w soup. According to our server this is one of the more popular items on the menu. Especially with the COMBO special(which comes with a choice of their house soup or salad). I opted for the soup which was pretty homestyle — not bad. The sandwich itself had really TENDER meat and came with either caramelized onions or their PICKLEDONIONS. I got both types of onions, w the pickled ones on the side and they were actually really good and necessary to enhance the flavor! Otherwise it would be too basic. I asked for extra aji sauce to put on the sandwich and that def made it more complete! One thing was the service was good but food came out kinda slow. Especially for the lunch crowd. I also don’t know what it means when they say«Peruvian spices»(which is written all over the menu) and when we asked our server — she didn’t know either :)

This place is a real find! We know Peruvian food, as my wife is from Lima, and I lived there for three years. For starters, we shared a palta con camarones, the shrimp cocktail with avocado, which was excellent. We then shared the Pescado a la plancha, a lightly breaded fish that comes with salad and rice. This too, was superb. I understand the chef is from Lima and professionally trained(I believe by Cordon Bleu). It shows, The fish was light and tasty, even the rice was better than expected. Finished with the flan for dessert, which is made different than I ever had it. Almost the consistency of cheesecake. All in all, a cute place with free parking nearby, and high end cuisine. You can sit inside or outside.

Cute Peruvian café on Ventura Blvd off the freeway. Good to see some ethnic food restaurants in an area that’s not known for food. And Sabores does a pretty good job filling that void. There’s a lunch menu and a dinner menu — so for lunch there are not many entrée selections unless its a lunch special. Lunch is simple & basic for Peruvian cuisine. Sandwiches, soups, cerviches, and salads. I had a trio of causas(chicken, vegetable, & tuna) and a bowl of soup. The Peruvian chicken soup is a staple for Peruvian cuisine, and even though I finished it to the last drop, it lacked flavor compared to most that I had. It didn’t have enough cilantro taste — it lacked acidity so it just tasted like chicken soup. But the bowl was generous with its chicken portion. The causas were amazing! Smooth & silky potatoes topped with a mix of chicken, vegetable, and tuna. All equally delicious. Ask for the Peruvian pepper sauce green & orange. I will most likely come back here at least once a week for lunch. I want to try their dinner.

Peruvian restaurants are either a hit or miss… this one definitely caught my interest. Nestled in the old town camarillo strip, you can come with expectations and they will deliver. I came for dinner yesterday and again for lunch today. I enjoyed both with rather different experiences. The dinner was on the heavier side, but their dishes are made with simple peruvian seasoning. I appreciate the simplicity bc it allows me to taste the quality of the ingredients. We tried the mixto ceviche, Lomo saltado, the aji con parillo, and a pescado dish. They were all delicious, but the Lomo was a bit too salty. The quinoa alternative for the white rice is a must. It’s fantastic! The lunch sandwiches are all wonderful! Today I tried the pork sandwich. But also are the causas. We tried the tuna, shrimp, and chicken. My goodness, causas are a must here. They taste light, have a rich texture, but theres a hint of lime juice that completely accentuates the dish. I am impressed.

I love this place! We had never been before, and our server, Jamie, was very personable(without going on and on) and told us a lot about the menu! She answered all our questions in a way that showed she really knew the menu. The food was delicious! Not only that, but it was all presented beautifully. Some of it was a little on the salty side, so we let her know and she apologized and said she’d let the cooks know. She even bagged our food for us! The place has a very comfortable feel to it, and everything looks very clean and professional. I love Sabores! We’re coming back for deserts next time. :-)

What a quaint little place! I REALLY hope they last. the food here was great. I ordered the roasted chicken causas as an appetizer and it was so good I could have eaten another 2 orders of it for my dinner too:) I wasn’t expecting it to be cold potatoes but it was so yummy! this was my first time eating Peruvian food and was the first choice of our newly formed«dinner club»(6 friends who needed and excuse to get together once a month and try new restaurants) I don’t eat fish but the other 5 shared a variety of cebiches and enjoyed al of them. I don’t remember the name of the dish I had for dinner but it was filet mignon and french fries. I was surprised when it was all mixed together… but hey, I like filet mignon and I like french fries and I definitely liked this Peruvian dish! For dessert we told our server to surprise us and I think she brought us one of everything and they were all super yummy but the cookies were my favorite. A small but decent selection of beer and wines so we could all find something we liked. The place is very easy to find and there is plenty of parking. I have no idea how authentic it is because I have never eaten Peruvian food before but it was delicious and I will definitely be back… maybe for lunch next time. the sandwiches looked good!

This restaurant made my mother cry, IN A GOODWAY! My mom is from Lima so since living here, she has not really had authentic Peruvian food since… oh boy… like a long time. 10+ Years or something. I am not that familiar with Peruvian cuisines & more familiar with Mexican, however my sister & I were lost in Old Camarillo & saw the sign for Sabore’s Café. We went in & tried their chicha-morada & it tasted GREAT! I had to rush home & tell my mom that finally there was a Peruvian restaurant in the area that was not a THAI restaurant in disguise. I love Thai, but to my mom, it just was not home cooking. So my mom came in to visit… & it blew her away. I have no idea what was what, but she did. She tasted the soup, which was a great chicken soup. & cried. So just sat there & tears were in her eyes as she told me about her aunt whom she loved. It tasted like her soup. I thought it tasted familiar… I then remembered how I had this soup when I was just a little kid. Man, wow, it was like a blast to the past. ANDTHISWASJUSTTHESOUP! Next was this fish dish… oh my god! I loved it… though I do not eat meat, I had the veggies portion, my mom ate my fish… & she was telling me all about it. I love the veggies… my mom loved the fish. I think they call it CERVICHE. If I ate meat, I would eat the fish like nobody’s beeswax. Oh man, it was so delish! SOONTODESERT! I had the LUCMA pudding… Now I am in love with LUCMA pudding. I am going to marry LUCMA pudding! Oh man, this pudding… MINDBLOWN! I looked to mom’s desert to see if I can steal some of her’s. I was very greedy. BUTALAS, she ate all her’s too. FOILEDAGAIN! She had not had Lucma since she left home… she was so nostalgic that she almost made me cry. The OWNER… oh man, sweetest guy who speaks Spanish in the Peruvian accent. She had to talk to him… she went on & on about Peru & how authentic it was for her. The chef is PERUVIAN& is an artist. I have never been on Unilocal before because I just look up things but not really thought about leaving any review. BUT come on… this made my mother feel like she was back home… so I am going to make this my FIRST& will come back again & again… a delicious way to get back to my roots. This is the place you will fall in love with!
