The people below that are judging this restaurant are not realistic. This place has clearly been here a while. Great tartar and good fries. most people around here are retarded and do not understand what little places like Smitty’s are like.

The worst breakfast I have ever had. Not only did it take an hour to get our food, the omelet was over done and the Swiss cheese was processed cheese squares. WTF!!! The hash browns tasted like they came from a frozen bag. The service was slow and had to ask 2 times about our food. Would never recommend this place to anyone.

The food was good. The service was fair. Probably a good chance I’d have given a 4 but they had that hate filled, racist Fox News on the TV. Felt like my ears were being raped while I was trying to eat my dinner. The place is clean and prices fair.

My sister once tried applying for a job at this restaurant. The manager was really creepy. It’s a bit loud in there too.

Good food, one of the waitresses is a little ditzy but it made for good entertainment. Clean and friendly. The food was very good too.

Good down-home greasy spoon diner, hits the spot when you want a breakfast to stick to your ribs. Actually open first thing in the morning unlike most diners in the area. Servers are always warm and cheerful, coffee kept topped off.

You have to come here and expect an old family owned restaurant, home style cooking, meat and potatoes. Hard working people feeding Camas residence for I don’t know how many years. I have been coming here since I moved to camas as a little girl in 1990. Yes they need a remodel. But they are too busy feeding all of you! If I could I would remodel it for them because I wish that it looked as good as the food and the feeling I get here. So Stop The Hate, wanna-be food critics! If you want a perfectly decorated posh breakfast place with strangely concocted recipes drive into Portland and enjoy the hipster attitude that often comes with it. If you want to feel like grandma is feeding you when you come over for a visit. You come here. Sure grandma needs to repaint and re-carpet… But ya know what? Grandma loves you, she’s happy you came by and you always leave well fed.

Went here Sunday for late breakfast because our favorite was full. Never again. The place was about ½ full. We were seated and quickly served quite possibly the worst coffee ever. Placed our orders, and waited. And waited. And waited.. . 45 minutes later, we were finally served. «mehh» best describes the food. My friend’s «Polish sausage» was a smoked sausage like you’d get at the grocery store, in one of the bulk packs for a party. Just one. He ordered a side of sausage gravy, which had plenty of sausage but absolutely no other seasoning. Snow white and thicker than some puddings we’ve had. I had an entirely forgettable Belgian waffle, totally unseasoned egg, and 2 not-bad link sausages. For 10.50. Save your time and money and go to on of the local taverns that serve food, or head over towards Vancouver to one of the chains.. .

Here in Washington on work related business. I try to find a home style diner. This place fits the bill perfectly. Being from Texas, a good trial for on the road/out of state«home cooking» restaurants is the chicken fried steak. This place made the cut, and did it in style. Great meal, awesome service, and very fair prices. Thanks, ya’ll!

I honestly do not understand how this place is still in business. The service is horrible and the food takes forever, even(actually especially) with only a couple people in the place! I went in last night to get gift cards for Christmas gifts and they acted like it was the biggest inconvenience. The only thing that kept me from walking out is the the waitress, who was obviously new, was so nice and embarrassed! The owner had to come out and help and was amazingly rude! He treated her like she was the stupidest person alive and me like I was asking something so out of the ordinary! I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I found myself in Camas, with a group of friends and an hour to kill on a Tuesday morning. We drove up third looking for a place to get breakfast and Smitty’s was the first non-fast food joint we came to. As others have pointed out, it’s not a fancy place but I’m good with that. Our server was pleasant and attentive and the food was good. I liked the variety of comfort foods and left with a full tummy and a little box of leftovers. I’m going to go back soon and try something from the lunch /dinner menu. Smitty’s is a good place to go if you’re hungry for big diner style meals.

I should have listened to my fellow Unilocalers and NOT gone in… But I thought maybe it would be ok for breakfast, I mean who can screw up breakfast? THESEGUYS! As soon as you walk in the door you are overwhelmed by the smell of mildew. It smelled like an old folks home. I should have turned around, but my husband and I were hungry. The place is really old, which could be charming in some cases, but one look at the soiled wall to wall carpet and fabric booths and your start to wonder how much kids snot it rubbed in there. The brown duct tape covering the holes in the carpet was pretty crafty, I have to hand it to them. Even though this made me a bit nauseous, the were so many old folks there I figured there had to me something decent on the menu. What ever it is, we missed out. My soggy Wonderbread French toast sucked. Sorry, I’m not usually this harsh, but it earned it. My husband’s sausage gravy with biscuits was a platter of white mucus with a few specs of sausage. He would have had more sausage on his plate if he had ordered two links. I’m kicking myself for not taking a picture, but I just had to get out if there. Feeling blessed we didn’t get food poisoning and definitely won’t be back.

Terrible!!! We have tried out this restaurant a few times in the past year. It’s the only family dining restaurant that serves breakfast in Camas. Every single time we leave there saying«NEVERAGAIN». The service is terrible. The foods is just OK. The restaurant inside is old, smelly and dated. The restaurant is filled with seniors who want nothing to do with families with kids. We always feel like we are sitting in the center of crabby spectators rolling theirs eyes at our 1 year olds babble. It is never a good experience!!!

My son and I stopped here for breakfast on our way up to the lake. We drive by Smitty’s all the time and it always seems to have patrons so we thought we’d give it a try. It was fairly busy, what you’d expect at 10:30 on a Saturday morning. It does kinda have that«diner» feel. The tables and booths were clean and pleasant enough and the menus were nice, but the carpet does need replaced, ceiling tiles are stained, and they really should consider getting rid of the dark panelling. Lots of windows though so it doesn’t feel like a cave. Wait staff was fine and our food came as ordered and in not too long a wait. The prices were kinda high I felt for breakfast fare. Study the menu, I was able to order two separate items/sides and ended up getting more food for less money than what was offered under one of their«combo» meals. Eggs were… well…eggs. French toast… I’ve had better. Pancakes were big and very good. Bacon(four strips!) was thick and amazing. Sausage link(you only get one!?) was possibly the best I’ve ever had. We each left with leftovers and having spent $ 25 for two. Sticker shock had me leaving a smaller tip than I should have. Other than the bacon and sausage I find no reason to return.

Hubby and I were not impressed. He ordered the special of the day, chicken fried steak. It came with the soup of the day, which was beef barley. Hubby had to use saltines to try to tone down the saltiness of the soup(which I would bet came out of a can). His chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes were smothered in bland white gravy. The vegetables that came with the plate were overcooked and looked like they came out of a can. I love patty-melts and found this to be the best patty-melt I’ve ever had. However, this one sandwich is not enough to inspire us to become repeat customers. As we dined, we started taking in the ambience of the establishment. The carpet, in a word, is disgusting. It has holes and doesn’t appear to have been cleaned since it was installed decades ago. There are huge water stains on the ceiling. The place just doesn’t give off very sanitary vibes. While our waitress was friendly, the service was mediocre. Considering there were only three occupied tables during our dinner rush, I couldn’t understand why our waitress was so scarce. I give this two stars, instead of one because the prices are reasonable and Smitty’s has a very comprehensive menu from breakfast items, burgers, various salads and typical diner entrees(such as fried shrimp, chicken fried steak and liver & onions).

Do NOT eat here. I have been a few times with my grandmother and it’s dismal inside and smells musty. My grandmother is elderly and has alzheimer’s. This is her favorite place to eat and she probably goes there every other day so the family always obliges and goes with her. However last time she was there she forgot her wallet and the manager was horrible to her. I am so upset just thinking about how he treated her. She went home to get her wallet and only had a check on her, which she brought down to him. He gave her a hard time because they don’t accept checks. The food here is definitely not good, so it’s people like her that keep this place in business. Do not patronize the business of somebody who treats their customers so disrespectfully. Based off past reviews it doesn’t seem that this was a one time thing.

Greasy greasy greasy. I think this is where they found the people for the Lipitor drug trials. Service is of the type that reminds one of old ladies perfume… in your face and in your space. Avoid this like heart stints!

Typical diner breakfast food. I had the biscuit, gravy, hash browns, eggs, and bacon. The bacon was nice and thick. The meat to fat ratio was perfect. The food here will satisfy any craving for a good old-fashioned breakfast. Oh! And they have 4 kinds of hot sauce at the table. Yum!
