I wish I had seen the reviews for this subway before I went here. I had thought it was a normal Subway. I went here for the second time tonight and turns out they don’t have gift card reader. The first time I went they said the gift card reader was broken. So, the story doesn’t add up and it should be consistent. This should also be made obvious. I came here at a 7 pm and there was only 1 guy working the whole stand, which made service incredibly slow. My entire visit from standing in line to finding out I couldn’t use a gift card took 15 minutes, which is much too long for a Subway. Give your workers some help! Also, at 7 pm, they had only Italian bread left as a choice. How is that possible? Better inventory management is also needed.

I think this place has been responding to all of the criticism on Unilocal, because I went here today and it was actually an okay experience! I was served with a smile and my order was delivered accurately. Some of the employees weren’t super attentive, the chip selection was low, and Subway isn’t that delicious to begin with but overall it was fine. Not the worst choice if you’re stuck in the food desert that is MIT.

Worst subway ever. Jerk let me stand on line for several minutes while he served someone and then told me and one other customer he was closing., 10 minutes ahead of time. Most inconsiderately operated eating establishment I have ever been to. If someone is going to be the last customer, tell the people who get there BEFORE they waste their time

I think anyone who’s been here can unanimously agree that this Subway is likely the most poorly operated and has the worst service in the entire US. The staff are downright rude to all customers, and can get away with it because of how significant the Subway franchise is. The sign at the front says open at 7:00am Monday through Friday, but they tend to be unprepared even by 8:00, telling people they aren’t open yet. You have to be a real piece of work to make service at a SUBWAY fast-food restaurant this bad.

They are always out of food by 6 pm. They never have sweet onion chicken teriyaki. They ran out of bacon, chicken, and onions at 2 pm today. Service is very slow. This is the worst Subway I ever been to. Unfortunately they are the only one on MIT campus.

This subway has the worst service that I have ever experienced from any fast food restaurant. The staff offer absolutely horrendous service and blame the customers for their own mistakes, at this subway the customer is apparently never right. I went in to the Subway to grab a bite to eat during an Indie Game Convention. Just when I had gotten in line I witnessed a shouting match between the store manager and a customer, I got there too late to see what started it but the customer was pissed, and the subway manager threatened to call security. I put this in the back of my mind thinking it was just some argument, and that as a calm guy my service would go uninterrupted, I was completely wrong. After my sandwich was created it was put next to the register where it sat for owe 3 minutes before someone came to ring my order up, I got chips and a large coke, paid and when the cashier wrung me up I grabbed a large cup because she immediately left the cash register without giving me my cup. I went to fill up with coke when I only found carbonated clear water coming out. I wait for the person ordering to finish before talking to the cashier. I said something was wrong with the soda machine. She glared at me and said in a rude manner that the only sodas available were Coke Zero and Sprite(she said this as if it were something I should have known even though I was not told and there were no signs). I then ask if I could pay the difference for a bottle of coke. She said snidely that it costs extra(of which I had already made clear I would PAY the difference so her remark was uncalled for). This is when it gets out of hand. I say I want to upgrade from a large soda to a bottle and then she takes one look at the cup and said that I had ordered a small soda, and accused me of stealing by taking the large cup(i definitely asked for a large and also wow $.20 is worth that kind of accusation!). She then further said that she had charged me for a small soda and that I MUST pay the difference from that cost, which was $.50. I paid and then told her that she should really fix her soda machine(in an angry tone but not mean) she got really pissed at that, and I heard her complain about me to the next customer as I was leaving. Overall this was the worst fast food experience I have ever had and judging by the other comments here people have had the same thing happen, if it were up to me this employee would be fired in a heartbeat, the service was so bad. Also I did the math later and based on how much I paid(I paid cash so I couldn’t prove I got a large) I counted the change and I had paid for a large, so the entire thing was completely unwarranted. But I am never going to this place again and the food wasn’t good anyways. This restaurant turned me off Subway for a long time, and I really don’t recommend going there at all. Tl;dr: Got accused of stealing $ 0.20 worth of soda(a large I had actually paid for) from a soda machine that didn’t even work.

I have been saying this for two years at MIT. This is the«worst subway in America.» This is obviously an exaggeration, but the sheer number of reasons why this is a below average subway is staggering. Stale bread, stale cookies, broken ice machine, broken credit card machine(they’ll tell you once you get to the register and its too late), disinterested employees, skimping on vegetables, not having the bread you want, and I could go on but the rest of the reviews here are pretty comprehensive(and have really validated what I always knew to be true). I think the worst part is that I still come here a lot because there are so few good options @ MIT.

I love Subway, but this location has by far the worst service I’ve ever experienced at any of their restaurants. Its very obvious how little their employees care about the quality of their work. Whether you say«a little of x,» «a lot of,» or nothing at all, you still get the exact same amount of each ingredient thrown on the sandwich clumped in one spot with no effort to spread it evenly. Their vegetables, especially tomatoes, frequently look less than fresh. The location often closes well before the advertised time — frequently 45 minutes to over an hour in advance. I love Subway and live nearby, but I only come here about once every few months. If this location had service comparable to any other Subway, I would visit several times a week.

Cheap sandwiches. Which is every subway. Ding 1 — randomly broken credit card readers. Ding 2 — Being super cheap. Only letting people put 4 vegetables on meatball subs. … Groceries too expensive to run a Subway? Ding 3 — most of the employees seem very annoyed at you.

SERIOUSLY?! The young man working the latter half of the sub assembly DOESNOT change his gloves between handling money and your sub. Disgusting. I wouldn’t have made such a fuss about it if it was only his1st time offense but I’ve seen this consistently from week to week!

Normally I think Subway is okay, or pretty good. Just not this one. Food is worse than other Subways, service is terrible, and it’s buried in the 2nd floor of the student center.

Wow — whenever I come here, I almost feel bad that I’m making them make my sandwich. They are the most unmotivated, inactive bunch of Subway employees I have ever encountered. They can’t muster up the energy to really talk to you — they mumble a lot. They kind of just go with their own flow and the manager must not keep a close watch on inventory or customer satisfaction or anything because they ALWAYS run out of stuff. Like bread. Really? We’re not asking for much from a sandwich spot. Just BREAD. I don’t understand where they get their employees from or why they don’t seem to train them in any decent fashion in customer satisfaction. But, avoid if you can — I know the Subway brand is tempting, but be prepared to deal with unenthusiastic staff.

I am generally a big subway fan, and because I usually enjoy the brand and appreciate the options they give me I am giving this place 2 stars instead of one. But, as many reviewers have said before, these people can’t get an order right. And they go way too crazy on the condiments. You’re much better off taking your own sandwich to the reading room.

Second time fooled, so shame on me. But never again, never again. Any actual resemblance to menu items as pictured or described, or available at other(better) Subways, is purely coincidental. They may seemingly offer everything a normal Subway does, but trust me, the only thing on the menu here is a 5 Dollar Footlong™ of FAIL.

Subway I love you — why do you hurt me so? The food is Subway, pretty much the same food at every Subway right? Well… that is if you get what you order. I understand you are in a student union(at MIT). I understand that you are busy. Do you understand that you are a business and if I am giving you money in exchange for food — I would like it to be what I ordered, how I ordered? At least once a week I have to explain to someone, «No, I said cucumbers, those are green onions.» Following by «No…no.I said, dohh. I said no sauce.» :( And since I order my sandwich the way I want it and I have food allergies, could you please wipe off the knife before sticking it in my sandwich to fold it and then cut it… come on. If I wanted the gooey stuff from that guys sandwich I would have ordered it for mine… aahh man. This place will always be busy because of the location and student population, so sadly, they will be able to plug along at 2 stars and nothing with change. I hope that is not the case. You have potential Subway… make MIT proud… or well, at least happily satiated.

Scale of 1 – 10(multiple visits): 7 Food 1 Service 4 Atmosphere 7 Value Easily the worst service I’ve ever gotten. That is not hyperbole. I honestly cannot think of anywhere that I have gotten worse service. And they were shitty to me twice. The second time it wasn’t just bad, but actually shockingly rude.

Two words: mustard bomb. If you’ve never experienced one, come right on in to the MIT Student Center Subway! Ask for any sub, then ask for mustard and mayo. You’ll catch on quickly.

subway’s usually does a pretty good job of training their employees, but one managed to slip between the cracks and she happens to be employed at the mit location. i mean isnt«the works» common subway’s parlance? they have a sticker on every freaking subway sandwich making station that you can ask for«the works» and they’ll pile on all the veggie ingredients. also, when you order a 6 inch, aren’t you supposed to get about 6 inches of sandwich rather than some pathetic leftover loaf edge that barely satisfies the hunger of a 2nd grader? i will not be going back here. as sad as it is, i’d rather patronize la verdes.
