Irving’s Shoe Fly

This place is old-​school – as Kyle points out. I can’t remember the last time I went to a shoe store where they offered to measure my feet. Plus, they sell the New Balance sneakers that are made in the US, and they leave the «Made in USA» tags on them, which not every store does.

I went into Irving’s to pick up a new pair of trail runners last week, and was impressed with the level of service. The shoe-​buying market (non-​fashion) has been inundated with chaintastic spots like Foot Locker/​Finish Line, and Payless, etc discount shoe joints.
Irving, on the other hand, clearly places an emphasis on personal service. I think they probably get commission, as the fellow that helped me out gave me a card and was sure to introduce himself. You may end up paying a few extra bucks, and I wouldn’t go there if you are in a hurry. They will take the time to measure your feet and get a brand/​style that you like and fits appropriately. All in all, its a great shoe store. I would go back for athletic or dress shoes.
