I came here the other day for the first time because I needed a quick lunch. It is near my son’s school and I only had 30 minutes to grab some food. Boy am I glad I did. I ordered their lunch special of Chinese eggplant with Spicy Garlic Sauce, with fried rice. This was about 12:45pm on a weekday and a few tables were occupied, but not at all busy. They were friendly and I ordered quickly. They came out with water, hot and sour soup and a tasty salad within a couple minutes, and had my food out in about 5 minutes. The food was yummy, the presentation was pleasant, and not just slopped onto the plate. The fried rice was mild but delicious, not too greasy or overly salty. The egg roll was not my favorite, but was very crispy, but just lacked on the filling, but I didn’t mind as I viewed it as a freebie. So for less than $ 10, I had a lovely sit down lunch with the best Chinese eggplant I’ve had. Had some spice to it, but not too much, was fresh, not floppy, with lots of yummy veggies mixed into the sauce. I’m certainly coming back again when I’m in the area and would like some Chinese food. I hope the rest of the menu is as good as what I had the first time.

The BF and I came here last night and a week before for dinner. We were a little hesitant about coming in since it didn’t look crowded or with people at all. Our meal was delicious for a to-go order. We both got different things(Special B and the #2 dinner) and they were wonderful! Service was fast and the ladies were very nice. Last night, our service was good and the food was great as dine in too! BF got a pineapple freeze that came in a glass that was super tall(so the portions were very good!) I would love to try to vegetarian plates and meals soon.

I stopped into Chef KO today because I happened to be in the area, then after sitting down I experienced deja vu. It came back to me, I’ve been here before… the lunch special menu gives you many options, and most of the dishes are $ 9.00. The lunch specials include salad and hot & sour soup, rice or chow mein. Today I ordered the black pepper chicken dish with brown rice. The salad was average, a simple dressing, but their hot and sour soup was very tasty with some lingering heat. I really enjoyed that the soup was not too sour, and the mild level of spiciness hit the spot. The black pepper chicken included mushrooms, pineapple, onions. Overall, this place provides well seasoned Americanized Chinese food with very good service. Glad to have bumped into this place again, and totally recommend it if you’re in Campbell near lunch hours!

Decent neighborhood restaurant and efficient service. It’s a step up from Panda Express in that you sit down with white linen. They charge for tea… so not cool to do in a Chinese restaurant, as tea is a standard pairing/staple for Chinese food. Definitely should have one more star taken away, but I do want to support mom & pop establishments. So I’m leaving it at 3. Will I return? Only if I’m starving in this area.

Chef Ko employee: «Are you kidding me!». Click. So ends the phone conversation I just had. I found myself craving some sweet and sour chicken. I have been here plenty of times and knew this place would do. I use Unilocal to look up phone numbers often and recalled thinking I wonder why they are rated so low? It didn’t stop me from calling, sadly. I asked for a dinner plate/special with sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and chow mein. The lady who answered the phone proceeded to ask me what kind of rice and chow mein. I was worried she hadn’t understood so I repeated I want a dinner plate. She said ok ready in 15 minutes. I asked her for the total knowing she was not understanding. She said $ 29.xx(I don’t recall the change). I asked suspiciously all that for a plate? And she interrupts me speaking to ask me what do I want and repeats back she is giving me the total as I asked for. I repeat myself. She repeats herself. I am now done with the conversation and asked her to cancel my order please. And that brings us back to the beginning of this adventure where she asks if I am joking. They get the extra star for all the good dinners I’ve had prior. Nothing great, but kept me coming back. Well, now throw in that experience, I’m not so sure about returning. Too bad.

Stopped by for dinner with my sister and nephew this past Sunday. My sister used to go there regularly when they lived close by. They remembered my nephew from when he was just a bbay. I’d give Chef Ko a solid 3.5 stars. It didn’t blow me away on flavor or anything, but the food was good and I was satisfied. The service was good as well. The restaurant itself is relatively small, so I’m guessing they do most of their business as take out. We ordered the potstickers, wonton soup, honey walnut chicken, tofu with vegetables and shrimp fried rice. I enjoyed everything we had and the tofu with vegetables was actually pretty tasty. I would probably come by here again to give other dishes a try.

Delicious! Chef Ko, thanks for being consistently great! I always order from the light menu and the black pepper sauce is amazing. My boyfriend ordered the individual #2 meal and the orange chicken and broccoli beef were soooo good too. Not sure why I hadn’t written a review on this place earlier. Service is fast and friendly also :) Thank you!

I come here regularly, very nice staff and a very good lunch special. Plenty to choose from but orange chicken and pineapple chicken are my favorites. I’d definitely recommended coming here for some good Chinese food at a decent price.

Love this place! I’ve only had it as take out but I am sure it tastes even better for dine in! I highly recommend the chicken chow fun it’s so good you can’t stop eating it! The staff is super friendly and what I like most about this place is that it is super clean. There is a small outside eating area where you can enjoy a nice lunch or dinner. Good location and decently priced!

I was desperately craving Chinese food. I ordered through Door Dash to squash the craving, mistake! Not Door Dash, although it would be awesome if Door Dash pulled this place. I ordered one of their meals with pot stickers, fried rice, wonton soup and orange chicken. It was all disgusting and all went in the trash after a brief sampling of everything. The orange chicken must’ve been fried in old grease or oil. It tasted like smokey, burnt, old cooking oil with the appearance to match. It looked like something I’ve scooped out of my cats litter box. The fried rice was tasteless, stale, and looked like soy sauce had already been poured on it, as if it had been repurposed. The potstickers I cannot comment on as I got three fried other items I instead. They each tasted like they were fried in the same old grease previously mentioned. The wonton soup was oily and flavorless. Unless you count burnt oil as a flavor, in which case it was chalk full of flavor. I held out hope for the fortune cookie, denied!!! DON’T WASTEYOURMONEY!

A couple of caveats to my four star review: 1) I only get the veggie beef chow fun; and 2) I suck at being Chinese: I have two degrees in literature and married a white guy who orders sweet and sour stuff on purpose. That said, I really love my veggie beef chow fun from Chef Ko’s. I wouldn’t go to Chef Ko’s for real Chinese food. Most of their clientele is white for a reason. I think their tables are set with forks rather than chopsticks. Tsing Tao a few blocks down has generally better and certainly more authentic Chinese food(the fried rice! so good!), but if you’re looking to settle an irrational craving for sweet and sour whatever, or want a vegetarian analogue of a former favorite dish, it works just fine. The vegetarian meat they use in their dishes is interesting. The veggie beef doesn’t totally taste like beef, but it’s chewy and satisfying in its own right. The chow fun isn’t the best I’ve ever had, but the first time I ordered it, I realized how much I had missed real beef chow fun since I went vegetarian. I’m grateful to have it back in my life! Portions of the chow fun are huge; we usually order takeout, and a box easily lasts me 3+ meals. I can’t vouch for the other dishes. The sweet and sour /lemon veggie chicken dishes are coated in a very sweet, peculiarly viscous sauce that doesn’t taste remotely Chinese, the fried rice is acceptable but bland, and I can’t remember anything else I’ve had here, which probably isn’t a great sign. Service is consistently friendly, and the ambiance inside is pleasant. Fellow vegetarians: they’ve only gotten a vegetarian order from us wrong once in something like five years(the potstickers were filled with real pork), but it does seem to happen once in a while.

These guys are convenient. Not the best but ok when you get that Chinese craving. Hot/Sour soup is good, but had better. Mongolian Beef is ok for lunch special. I highly do not recommend the Chinese Chicken Salad. It’s kinda terrible Location is great, at least for me, but better options within 2 miles.

We door dashed this place after reading some of the reviews. What a mistake! We ordered chef special chow mein, chef special fried rice, beef with string beans, and sweet & sour chicken. It’s needs to be said that I love chinese food. LOVE! I came back from a two week Asia trip and the first thing I did was ordered chinese food. But I digress. The food was just bland as can be. The chow fun we got… Yes I said I ordered chow mein, has fish and squid in it… And so did the rice. I like both of those elements– But NOTINMYRICEANDNOODLES! It added a crunchy– fishiness that was just gross. Oh, and their eggrolls just suck ass. Folks, if you want good… better chinese food, try little Hunan.

For their food alone I would give this restaurant 3 or 4 stars. But there is always some difficulty with ordering here. I am a vegetarian and order the vegetarian dinner #2, and always to go. The very first time I ordered it I came home and discovered they had given me real meat. I took it back, and they exchanged it no problem. Fine. It says you can add soup for $ 2.50. So a couple weeks ago I asked if I could add wonton soup and they said yes. I showed up and was charged a full $ 7 for a side of soup. Today I got off work, had a fever, it’s pouring rain so I call and order vegetarian dinner #2(even have a conversation about whether or not the side is veggie), pick it up and go home. I’m in bed in my pajamas when I open it and find. Real meat. I call and they tell me to bring it back. Sigh. Put my wet clothes back on, drive all the way back over there, and they have the gal to charge me an extra $ 4 because the vegetarian meal is more expensive. Are you kidding? I won’t eat there anymore. And if you do, I suggest you say the word ‘vegetarian’ at least 6 times.
