Love love love this place! Very reasonably priced for high quality desserts and cakes. The staff is always friendly. I had a last minute cake order and they were super helpful and the cake was beautiful and tasted great!

I had my wedding cake from Sugar Butter Flour 10 years ago, and it was beautiful and delicious and the place is always a special place for us. The bakery has changed owners. The pastry and cakes are still beautiful and yummy. Original owner Kathleen was a more warm person to talk to.

I usually buy cookies from here every time I have dinner or lunch at the neighboring restaurants. Today on a Saturday I walk in and there’s an employee and not 1 other customer, but myself and my family. Not once did she look up from stocking an already full case and passed us twice to retrieve other treats that weren’t being purchased from the back area. Thank you for saving me $$ I will NEVER give my money to an establishment that does not need my business.

One star for the different types of cakes and pastries this bakery carries. I bought a vanilla cupcake with vanilla icing and a tiramisu. The vanilla cupcake tasted stale. It was very hard and so was the icing. The tiramisu was stale too. Both, definitely not baked today(can’t say how old they were.

I am going to give then a here star average. The service was very friendly and quiet at 5pm on a Wednesday. There was still quite a bit in the pastry case. I was intrigued by their shortbread cookies, the talked about burnt almond cake, and the 50% off cupcake happy hour special we walked in on. Being as I am asian I can never pass up such a special offer. We got the burnt almond cake, and a vanilla buttercream cupcake with strawberry jam. I have just got to say meh. The burnt almond cake was pretty solid thus the extra bump but the cupcake was downright dry and gross. Just not good at all. Why why why would you serve dry cupcakes? It’s so wrong on so many levels. I do not think I will be back. I am going to agree with other reviewers that there are many better options in the near option.

3.5 Cute pastries. Quite a treat when I spotted the Hello Kitty shortbread since I was with a friend absolutely ecstatic about HK! The mini cookies are 2 for $ 1 and the chocolate dipped discs are 3 for $ 1. I looked at past Unilocal photos and the HK ones used to be 3/$ 1 =\ prices went up. After trying the dark pink cookie I call«sugar lips,» I found it bland, not enough butter or sugar to make it stand out. I guess it’s the novelty of appearance. The cherry strudel I tried wasn’t what I expected either. They used real cherries, giving it a tart taste, opposite of sugary grocery store turnovers. Chocolate cupcake with chocolate buttercream was ok. Not worth the $ 3 price tag but will satisfy the chocolate craving. Hazelnut Napoleon was too rich and dense, especially the top chocolate portion, thick like ganache. The thin bottom layers of white cake mixed with hazelnut praline was somewhat better. Almost got the princess cake but I noticed they probably use the same supplier as La Patisserie in Cupertino. The softer marzipan coating is colored with blue, green, or purple. I gave an extra star for the cute store name and customer service. The lady helping me didn’t mind my split second decisions on ordering more items despite her having to change boxes to accommodate. She even went to the back to search for a plastic bag! Thank you.

The best pastries I had in a long time. They cakes are dense and rich that you can’t finish a cake at one go. Would be great if they had vegan options though! Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you that they were pricey. I am still going back for those times I want to indulge myself :)

I had a mini cheesecake here that was okay once. That and the cute little building in the Pruneyard /the convenient location earned this place 2 stars. I deducted stars for the following: * High school aged employees with couldn’t-care-less attitudes. * No proper breakfast pastries in the morning when I visited. No muffins, croissants, nothing. * If you ask for something warmed up they MICROWAVEIT and turn it to mush. Even Starbucks knows to use an oven /toaster oven, and this is supposed to be an actual bakery. * Bread pudding should not be cold and hard as a rock. Yeah.

A friend brought a cheesecake from this place to a friend’s birthday a couple weeks ago. It was rich and creamy and delicious. So when I was in the area, I decided to stop by for dessert. A friend and I shared their burnt almond cake. And it was after 7(I think), so they have their cupcakes and cookies that they didn’t sell in the morning for half off. A sort of happy hour, if you will. So I got a cupcake for later. The burnt almond cake we split in the bakery. It was pretty good. It’s a mini round cake, not a slice. It was a decent almond cake. Too much frosting for me but lots of sliced almonds. I like some of the other famous places in the south bay for burnet almond cake though. The cupcake, I had the next day. It was a straight forward vanilla cupcake. Nothing super special about it. But I definitely recommend their cheesecake.

Usually anything whipped with sugar, butter and flour are a hit in my mouth. Eeks me thinks not at this bakery, I’m sorry! Service is very nice — 4 stars Desserts — 2 stars Asked their most popular dessert, the lady said the burnt almond. We also ordered the tiramisu. Total was about $ 11. Burnt almond — the outside coating of the almonds was nice, could have been sweeter. The ratio of frosting to cake was too much. Too much heavy and mildly over whipped frosting to the thin flavorless layers of cake. Tiramisu — No coffee/espresso flavor. Frosting was too«buttery» in flavor and not sweet. Overall, it tasted like the bakery name minus the oomph.

Burnt. Almond. Cake. I wasn’t a crazy fan of it after trying it from peters or dicks, but once I tried it here, it was def a game changer. They make it with regular &&& chocolate cake too! Their almonds are perfectly glazed and roasted too. It’s pretty darn delicious. Their cookies are also delectable. I have yet to try their other goods though.

Came here for the first time today after reading all the rave reviews on Unilocal but I gotta say I was sorely disappointed. The tiramisu I had did not taste fresh at all — it tasted like it had been sitting in the display case for a few days. The texture itself was off too. Tiramisus are usually light and fluffy but the mascarpone cheese in this one was super dense and almost made me feel like I was consuming plastic. No Bueno man… it makes me really sad to say this but damn that was a waste of $ 5. This place also raises some health concerns. They only have plastic utensils, and they are in cups right by the cash register, next to the tip jar. Not the most sanitary place to keep utensils, in my opinion. And in fact, as I was reaching for a fork, I saw a long piece of hair sitting atop the cup of knives. Luckily the forks appeared clean but who knows if they might’ve been contaminated by the hair as well(or worse). Ugh I shudder at the thought… I might give one of their other locations a second chance but I think it’s safe to say I won’t be coming back to this one.

In San Jose running errands one Friday I decided to knock off a bookmark and stop by here to pick something up for Dessert for my Husband and I and upon arrival was pleased to see a huge variety still available at 4pm. The Lady serving being French seemed to have some problems understanding me but finally left with 3 items: Éclair, Strawberry Mango Mousse and 3 Hello Kitty Shortbread Cookies. The Éclair( ) Was the winning item with my Husband and I as it wasn’t your typical American version of an Éclair but an authentic European one with cream filling. The pastry was flaky, slightly chewy and the chocolate was pretty good too(not this rancid Hershey’s stuff). Strawberry Mango Mousse( ) This is not what I thought I was getting. The sign in the cabinet was placed by this pink square Cake with white Chocolate the and it was the way in which the Cake looked that had me order it so I was really disappointed getting home and seeing this less than impressive looking slice. It was still tasty, didn’t have a great deal of flavor though and the texture was really dense. Hello Kitty Cookies( ): Looked better than they tasted sadly. The Cookie itself was mildly buttery and flaky, very sweet. The Bakery is small inside with some seating and they serve both hot and cold drinks. I wouldn’t be against returning to try some of the Pastry items to see if they are authentic European. *TIP* Happy Hour 5 – 7:30pm Monday to Thursday. All Cupcakes are 50% off.

Tonight I had the best dessert I’ve had in a year(easily). It’s not a big place, just a few tables, but is clean. I’ve only been once so my experience may not be the norm but I know I’ll be back. I should probably dry something different but don’t know if I can, the almond cake thing was truly amazing. Back to the place. I found it by accident after meeting a few people for a place down the strip and then went looking for desert. The woman behind the counter was friendly and talked with us about the different things they had. She seemed to know their selection well and was able to speak on all of the bits we asked about. A friend and I each got the burnt almond cake thing(sorry, I don’t remember what its official name is). It is a small cake like thing about the size of a softball. Inside are three layers of cake(chocolate and vanilla). There was a custard layer between the first two layers of cake, and something between the second and third(the overall taste make it hard for me to focus). Outside was a layer of white simi-soft topping that may have been marshmallow. Finally was a layer of candied almond slivers(not really burnt). It was amazing, I shouldn’t have but I finished mine. My friend ended up sharing his. The group also got a couple of other sweets and universally like them. I’ll update my review if the service ever degrades, or I actually get around to trying something other than the almond cake thing.

Found this place via Unilocal one evening when my boyfriend and I had a sweet tooth but nothing in the area was open except for Sugar Butter Flour! I was glad to have tried this place because I found some new favorites here. One of my favorite places from this place is the Burnt Almond Cake. I’m used to Burnt Almond Cake similar to Peter’s Bakery in San Jose, this cake is smaller and pricier, but the almonds are candied which gives the cake a sweeter taste. It’s very moist as well. I’ve also tried the carrot cake, not overpowering and it’s different from the usual carrot cake from other locations. This one isn’t too sweet even with a cheesecake frosting. The store is small with a few seating indoors, it gets kind of packed on the weekend, but definitely a spot to try if you get the chance.

The burnt almond cake is yum! A bit pricey for a moderately-sized cake slice($ 5 something) but I really enjoyed it. I love almond-flavored anything, so I love how they soaked the vanilla and chocolate cake with almond custard. Every bite is almond goodness! Service is kind of weak, especially when I feel like the girl in the front couldn’t be bothered with making eye contact with customers. She seemed very busy reading whatever she was reading and I almost felt bad asking her to help me get the cake out of the fridge. But isn’t that her job? They also have water provided for customers, and a bathroom in the back. Other goods they sell include cupcakes, macarons, and many other sorts of cakes. Overall, a cute place to relax and eat sweets in Campbell! Sit by the window and enjoy the view of decorated palm trees :)
