Though the name listed on Angie’s List is Jordan Dayao, the real man behind the curtain is Mel Newman, formerly of «Comfort Walk in Tubs«on Jordan Avenue in Canoga Park. Even though comfortwalkintubs.com’s website is active as of right now, he «permanently closed the showroom» and moved to Millwood which is actually his residence. My mother purchased a tub from this shyster in 2013. She was diagnosed with Alzheimers in December of 2014 and in my sisters and my cleaning out of her condominium, we found copious documentation of my mother trying desperately to get the tub fixed. It NEVERWORKED, leaked like a sieve and even though the tub was under warranty, when she did finally get some kind of response, Mel sent a workman, charged my mother 150.00(again, tub still under warranty so she should not have been charged a dime but my mother was clearly suffering from the beginning stages of the disease which we did not know at the time) AND the«service guy» he sent out told my 75 year old mother he would show her how to crawl into the guts of the tub to flip the GFI switch. REALLY? Aren’t walk in tubs for people losing mobility? When my sister called him, he denied having ever sold the tub to our mother despite the appointment confirmations, receipts AND the fact that the number on the comfort walk in tubs website went directly to him, the email address my mother had been sending her pleas to for both service and an OWNER’S MANUAL(which she never got), he said he would be «willing to help us out.» He mailed some part to us after we sent a video of the water shooting out of the bottom of the tub(a video we had just taken that day which was July, 2015) and I still have the part because someone else who had NOTHING to do with this was kind enough to drive almost 100 miles to fix the tub and didn’t charge us one red cent. Also, the part this genius sent us had NOTHING to do with the problem with the tub. It was a MANUFACTURINGDEFECT, NOTANINSTALLATIONDEFECT. STAYAWAYFROMMELNEWMAN. He had to close on Jordan Avenue in Canoga Park, I’m sure due to his ripping off senior citizens. We have since spoken to numerous people who have worked with him and one called him«a waste of human protoplasm.» That is being kind. I am posting this review everywhere on the internet because I don’t want another family to go through what we went through and what my poor mother went through. She used the tub exactly twice between her purchase in 2013 and our final move out of her in October of 2014. I have never written anything but rave reviews for Angie’s List, Unilocal, etc. Not this time.
