Went in and asked for a table for 4, the hostess gave us a pager and said it would be about 30 minutes. Our pager never buzzed so we went back in and she was seating walk-ins as they came in… we gave her our pager and told her it never went off and she sat us immediately. We sat on the deck and there were plenty of open tables out there… the hostess seemed clueless. The service was great and the food was pretty good! Would go again but beware of the hostess!

The service has been getting slower and slower. My last experience was the worst from the time we sat down it took 20 min to get a drink. To be fair when I mentioned it to the manager he comped the drinks. Then it took 33 min. to get our burgers after ordering.

I’m not sure why other people had such bad experiences, because personally our experience was great! While walking along the restaurants, this place definitely caught our attention more than the others for a few reasons: The live music. There’s nothing like some live singing that can reel a crowd in! Second of all, we had actually gone a few doors down to another restaurant and sat down, but the menu there was limited and, for lack of better words, just boring. So we left and saw Paradise Beach Grille’s menu posted outside. There were a number of things we wanted to try! Which is the reason for over-ordering and stuffing ourselves too much later… Anyway, we put our name down since the wait for a seat outside was about 20 minutes. The hostess was so-so, she wasn’t the friendliest, but whatever because our SERVER Priscilla was awesome! She was friendly and so smiley and she even split our plates for our entrée that we shared(even though on the menu it says they can’t do that, so we didn’t even ask if we could) since our table was very small. For starters we ordered the Ahi, Mango, and Avocado tower(with wasabi mango purée and balsamic teriyaki gastriqu, & homemade chinese taro chips) and the baked Brie. My girlfriend and I have this little obsession with baked brie. It all started from Shadowbrook’s amazing baked brie and jalapeño jelly. The one at Paradise Beach is definitely different but still just as delicious and satisfying! I LOVED that it came with two large whole roasted garlics! It made all the difference to be able to have all those big creamy chunks of garlic blending in every bite with the creamy brie, DROOLS. The jalapeño jelly could have been a little spicier, but other than that no complaints! The ahi tower was also really good. I was a little skeptical since we’re both used to really good poke, but this was different in the sense of presentation and that this came with taro chips. Those crispy taro chips made this that much better and different. Everything tasted fresh and the sauces went well with everything as well. Our entrée came out(Hawaiian style full rack of ribs), hot and looking good, but by that time we were already stuffed from our appetizers. The ribs were good, not the best ribs I’ve had and not as infused with as much citrus as the description made it sound, but it was still decent. The appetizers for us were definitely the highlight of our meal. Overall, this is a place we would come back to when we’re in Capitola again(that bacon wrapped filet mignon with gorgonzola butter & the Beach Blanket Breadalon with gouda, mozzarella, garlic, & green onions-WE’LLBEBACKFORYOU).

Horrible service :(came over to have dinner for my birthday thought this would be a good place. Waited and waited was overlooked and forgotten Then was finally seated and sat for 15+ min no waiter stopped at our table while others were seated and served all around us. We then left A very sad experience :(… Would not recommend

Had dinner here on a Fri night. Sat in the bar and listened to good music. Seafood was great. I had the macadamia nut crusted halibut which was prepared very well. The sea bass was also good. Limited wine selection by the glass. Service was attentive and fine.

We came here for lunch and lucked out with a table on the patio overlooking the ocean and colored houses. The view in itself is worth 5 stars, especially with cocktails. The hostess was really kind and so were the servers, even though they were rather swamped being a sunny, warm weekend. The food portions are big and the menu is very diverse. Of the dishes we had, the coconut prawns were good, but not as memorable as the view. Wish I spent more time down in the Santa Cruz area so I could visit the patio here more often!

I have been coming here for years and have always been happy with the food, service, and the drinks. My most recent visit deserves some extra kudos. I came during the week to have dinner with some friends from out of town, and my 15 month old daughter. We sat outside. Little did I know, that being outside my daughter would not want to sit down at all. Thankfully it wasn’t too busy that night as she wanted to run around instead. Our waitress went out of her way to bow up a ball, get a frisbee and find ways to entertain her. After my daughter decided she didn’t want to sit in her seat to eat, the waitress(Karen I think) followed her around with a bowl of pasta so I could get in a few bites of my own meal. To anyone with a toddler, you know how difficult it can be to go out to eat. To a restaurant and a waitress who cared enough to help instead of making us feel like we were a hassle… you have my patronage for life!

Beautiful location, amazing ambience and very good n courageous waitress — full points for that Problem comes with drinks … None of the cocktails were good … They don’t have margarita glass to serve it, that in itself kills the feeling … With very bad tasting margarita in it … It lacked habenaro taste, lemon, Mint and alcohol … It was not even good mock tail … Other drink was painkiller … Again same prob … Lacked coconut, lacked rum… Bad cocktail … I will recommend only ordering plain alcohol there like scotch or wine Food was mediocre … Sea bass was not moist enough … It lacked seasoning n sauce was too less … Chicken was okish … Bit dry again … Mashed potato lacked cream n salt Mango shrimp was good but bit too sweet Overall … Food was ok … But the view worth going …

Healthy options and lots of seafood. I’ve had several salads and they are all interesting and great! Large patio on the water. It’s in Downtown Capitola(right next to Margaritaville) so parking is rather frightful.

Had Gary’s slab of baby backed ribs. My wife had the filet and lobster special. Gary’s ribs were fantastic. I wanted to buy a gallon of sauce for home. The cole slaw was good, but needed some additional salt. The. French fries that accompanied the meal were not bad, just average. The filet my wife had was cooked perfectly to temperature. And the lobster was sweet and not over cooked. The potatoes could use a little more butter and/or cream, but they were edible. We had the mud pie for dessert. The presentation was nice, and the flavors of the dish mixed well. This was the second time I’ve eaten here and they did not disappoint me. The service was attentive, and there were no negatives to report to the Unilocal community. I recommend this place and will come here many times in the future.

Went here for my wife’s birthday and it was perfect! Our waitress Stephanie was the nicest, coolest and kid friendly person we every experienced from a waitress. To top it off the food was AMAZING!!! The amount of food is big, the tastes on every bit on the plate was flavorful and the in house made chocolate mousse was the best I have ever had! Thank you for a great experience and wonderful food! Lucky there is a good view and we liked the people we were with. Here are the things that I hope don’t happen to you… 1. Mojito didn’t have alcohol in it 2. Three different staff members told us we had to order food to sit on the patio and then didn’t take our order 3. French fries were served cold 4. Waitress didn’t bring back change after we paid the bill

We asked the pizza my heart clerk which restaurant had the best calamari. He said Paradise and the food here was good. But the wine was better! And the service fast and efficient by Mark the clams in a garlic white wine sauce was excellent with slivered basil and parsley and bread and mashed potatoes but the sauce you can drink and it was savory. The calamari had 2 dipping sauces and was tender and lightly dusted with flour. Got to full waiting for happy hour but we were 100% satisfied and will be back

I enjoyed my sugar n’ spice salmon; it was moist, slender and tasty, 40% burnt black, not blackened. Maybe that’s the way they serve it; if you like burnt black salmon, give it a try. Comes with a side of veggies, choice of rice pilaf, baked potato or garlic mashed potato’s. I had the veggies and rice pilaf. The veggies, comprising broccoli florets and thinly sliced yellow squash and zucchini were cooked perfectly: al-dente. And the rice pilaf was quite good too. Overall, at $ 26.00, figure you are paying $ 10 for the ocean front dining. Sangiovese, was summoned and returned due to sourness; a fresh bottle was brought and poured at our table. voila, nice body, deep ruby color with a fine scent, just $ 8.95 We sat in the alcove and enjoyed a nice sunset. Customer service: fine. Parking: out front and metered.

This place would get 5 stars but the house pinot noir was really sour. Order the savignon blanc. It rocked :) Our server was Caitlin and she was very nice. The bar area that overlooks the ocean is open seating so we got really lucky with a nice spot. I am including pictures because it was beautiful with happy duckies! I ordered mussels and they were very filling. It was made with a spicy curry, which caught me off guard but it was tasty. The environment around the bar area got a little loud but patrons were polite overall.

The food here in my opinion is probably worth three stars but I will give four for the exceptional service. We did have quite a wait but not much longer than quoted initially. We were in a party of 8 for a birthday celebration and they took great care of us. Everything we wanted or needed was granted and quickly at that. We had two servers that were handling our party and both were fantastic. The food itself was fine. Mostly comfort food type things with an emphasis on seafood(duh, you’re by the beach). I got a seabass dish and the fish was good and the accompanying sauce well done, but the rice and veg sides were your standard afterthought type things. We did also split some bread appetizer overflowing with cheese and scallions and garlic which was amazing. I wouldn’t mind returning here for the service and the view of the beachfront.
