Another place on the esplanade that is all about the great location. Summer tradition is taking a slice from this tiny take out joint, folding it up and eating it as the hot sand and cold ocean tickle your toes. So busy that it’s always fresh. They used to have a deal where you get a slice and a souvenir t-shirt for $ 5 or $ 6. Not sure I would get a whole pie. Where would you eat it? It is a slice place, get a slice, always hot and fresh. Always with a few options during their busiest times, veggie and meat as well. You will have to take it out to eat, not a problem on a nice sunny day with the beach steps away. Sit on the benches along the beach neat the bandstand or toss your plate in the trash and carry your slice along with your towel and eat in the sand. Why stay inside in such a nice location? Pro-tip: Don’t park in the short term parking on the Esplanade. Park in the City of Capitola lot a few blocks back so you can have cheap parking for the whole day. You will not have to worry about feeding the meter this way.

Some of the best Pizza I have ever had in my life. Have been going to Pizza My Heart in Capitola for over 20 years. I drive about 3 hours to get to Santa Cruz, first thing I do is check out the ways. Then get my tide chart at Cowells Surf Shop, then go over to Pizza My Heart and get at least on slice of Pesto pizza. I take the slice and a Root Beer to the bench that overlooks the volleyball courts and ocean. Sometimes there is a line out in front, yet worth the wait.

I enjoy the scenery, the people and the pizza here. Only wish there was a sit down area like other PMH’s have. Who wouldn’t want a nice table to sit at and eat Big Sur or Pesto slices? The line here can get crazy. People stand around & it looks like one big cluster. You have to be a bit assertive or people will cut in front of you. The pizza is delicious and I understand we all want a bite of pizza heaven but people are rude here at times. The staff has always been super friendly here and easy to work with when making a custom pizza. We will continue to go back again & again. The only drawback is that you have to pay a 25cent deposit on the pizza box. I understand why and agree it’s an awesome thing they’re doing for the environment. It’s a drawback to us because we can either a) not go home until we eat it & return the box. b) go home & just eat the 25cents. c) hold an empty pizza box in our trunk until we go back(yuck) We usually take our pizza with us up to Mr. Toots & eat it there with our coffee and dessert. Then we return in on our way back to the car. If there were seats to eat at, we wouldn’t need boxes. Sometimes I see homeless people collecting them & give the box to him/her. Either way it’s doing the environment a favor by not flooding the water with trash.

We came out for a walk in capitola wharf and decided to grab some dinner at pizza my heart. We ordered two slices of mushroom pizza and shared a chicken walnut salad(with balsamic vinaigrette). The pizzas were thin and tasted great. They were perfect with the salad. You can grab the pizzas and eat it by the beach!

It is good enough that I return pretty much every week. The people who work here are friendly. To be fair, I am originally from NY so I am biased thinking we have the best pizza. Pizza My Heart succeeds with their thin crust. The sauce and cheese taste pleasurable. It is a little pricey for say the cheese slice, which normally would be my first choice. I’ve tried the pesto, mushroom, and veggie slices too. I would probably give them 4 – 5 stars if they would just put some more sauce and cheese on the cheese slice.

Perfect place to grab a slice and enjoy on a bench by the beach. Love their thin slices. My favorite is their ham and pineapple but they have a lot of other delicious unique combos. If you like garlic, you’ll enjoy the whole cloves they use as a topping. Don’t expect Chicago deep dish– these wide slices are thin, flat, and floppy. Mmm…

Came here after a stressful day of car buying. No I didn’t buy one, they didn’t want to take mycash. Anyway this location is outstanding! Pizza by the slice yumo. I had the pepperoni and sausage and roasted garlic. Best pizza by far. Customer service outstanding, restaurant very clean. I highly recommend this list!

The first. The original PMH. And PMH was my very first thin crust pizza. I’ve been coming here since I was in high school. My bestie’s parents bought a beach house in Aptos, about 15 minutes away. We thought we were super cool… Hitting the beach. Watching the surfers. Wandering around the village. Grabbing a slice at Pizza My Heart… Quietly but unequivocally making our presence known. The pizza was always hot & greasy. More greasy than it is today. It was always busy. It’s quite THE spot at night. Right on the esplanade, it’s great for grabbing slices pre or post beaching activities. You know, like laying out. Remember when everybody laid out? Those were the days. A Capitola must do. 4 stars.

Thin crust, so thin that you have to fold or roll up the slice to eat it. Pizza was average at best. This location does not have tables so it’s an order and take out to eat at the beach or take home. Parking is a nightmare on weekends, but it makes sense since it’s right on the beach. My friends ordered pizza before me and didn’t get it until quite awhile after everyone else started eating. Our pizza took quite awhile too. FYI a small is fine for 2 adults. I ordered a medium for my husband and I and we had 2 slices leftover(which is fine, just a tip for people who don’t want to bring anything home). Toppings provided at the counter are a nice plus-hot sauce, parmesan, pepper flakes, and garlic powder. They have salads, wings, and veggie options in addition to pizza.

Got a pizza with friends and all our friends recieved their pizzas before us– they actually forgot our pizza, barely apologized and we had to wait another 10 mins on top of the 20 mins we waited for our friends who ordered after us. And the pizza was aweful! Soggy and floppy :(

A pretty good tiny pizza place with character and a large following. The pizza isn’t tiny. The shop is tiny. This is the original Pizza My Heart location adjacent to the City beach. Whether a whole pie or just a slice or two, stand in a line, place your order, turn 180, walk out. There is a standup counter area open to the sidewalk where you can stand to dress your slice and/or eat. On this Sunday late morning, not much of a line. The line does move slow as the customer at the counter figures out what they want and then fumbles around paying. We were on our way to lunch and I wasn’t gonna pass up a slice of pizza, as we have every time in Capitola and at the beach. I don’t suggest just driving here for pizza because parking can be a nightmare. There’s another location in town more suitable for that. Stop here and enjoy the beach, the shops, the scenery, and a slice of pizza. Today, there were two options for a slice. I recall from the past, there was only one option. I chose a meatless slice with pesto, garlic and tomato. No time for a picture — I needed to eat quickly on the walk to my next lunch. The pizza is pretty good. I really like the crust. Because of the pesto, it was a bit oily — plenty of napkins. I have pizza ‘issues’(as I note in all of my pizza reviews) In fairness, it’s my issue and I don’t take it out on the pizza or it’s creators. This place has a following and character. It’s been around for a long time and has become somewhat of a ‘must do’ when in town. So, when in town and at the beach, just do it.

I got introduced to PMH last year and now we always stop when there is one in the area. I always get the slice, caesar salad, drink combo. What a deal! I think it’s #2 on the menu.

Hmmm not sure what all the hype is about. The tomato sauce is too sweet for me and the crust underwhelming. I thought the long lines signaled something amazing but it wasn’t to be.

Scrumptious pizza right by the beach. Pretty simple. Pros: — Fresh pizza that they heat up for you — Variety of toppings! SOGOOD. — Crust is nice and crunchy — the pizza is thin Cons: — Line is too slow, they need a new ordering system. I didn’t want to wait for other pizzas be ready so I just ordered what was there

My friend has raved about this place for years(she’s a graduate of Santra Cruz) so I was very excited to check this place out when my husband and I were in town for the weekend. You can either order pizza to go, or by the slice. The crust was the perfect amount of thickness and there was a good ratio of topping per cheese, sauce, and crust, and the flavor was great! I loved the setup of this location, there was an area at the front of the shop where you could hang around and eat. Wish this place would expand to the East Bay because I would be there every day!

In terms of location this is propably the best spot simply because it’s on the esplande. There is something very satisfying about getting a walk up pizza next to the beach. Pizza my Heart is considered the best pizza in the area and the pizzas here are just as good as the other locales. The pesto and Pepperoni with mushroom cannot be beat. The Esplande is considered a destination location-that is a place where people come from far away to see(you already know this as you had to suffer through that traffic to get here) and like many destination locations(Times Square, San Antonio riverwalk, Navy Pier in Chicago, any airport) the restaurants really don’t stand out in terms of quality. Pizza my heart is the best choice for food on the Esplanade.

I quite like the pizza here, especially their Big Sur slice. Love the copious amounts of roasted garlic, pepperoni and portobello mushrooms on top of a crust that’s not too thick, not too salty, not soggy. B-b-bb-bbb-boooom! This location is literally a few steps from the beach. Just be sure to bundle up when you’re standing in line in the late afternoon shadow that the building casts. It’s chilly.

Got the chicken and bacon slice and was so content! I loved the little bar where you could eat your slice. The perfect beach spot Also! The new girl working there from Ohio was so dope. She handled a bitchy customer with such poise which is hard to find. I wish her luck and everyone give the new to California red headed girl a high five! :)

Solid pizza place with big slices, fairly high prices, and a great view. Be aware of the ferocious seagulls. They will attack when you are not looking. I lost a slice of good pizza to a herd of seagulls who snatched the slice right from my dad’s hand when he was busy talking. I was sort of ticked off that they could do such a thing! That’d probably be my only add. I also wished they had more unique flavors other than two standard flavors and two semi-interesting flavors. Just imagine the possibilities! The prices also were a tad high for what you were getting but because they are the most popular joint on that strip + the view was gorgeous, I guess you’re also paying for the view as well.

BYFAR, THEBESTPIZZA Spot I have been too! Loved this pizza spot, probably the BEST pesto pizza I have ever had! This place is somewhere i have been going to since I was a kid! I couldn’t wait till I was able to come back and have it again. Both the Pesto and Supreme are amazing! Five stars is really not enough for this place, you just got to try it to believe it!
