The food here is great. I usually just stick with the steamed BBQ pork buns, but I’ve also had the salt and pepper short ribs which were AMAZING! The shrimp dumplings are also excellent. But holy moly when I ordered, it took me 40 minutes to get my food. While I was waiting, I saw other people getting their orders and they all looked really good!

I’ve been here a few times at first I wasn’t stoked on how long the food would take I’d get told 10 mins and 10 mins would turn into 25 mins thankfully the 10 minute takeout parking spot I would park in isn’t monitored cause I’d be either asked to move or get a ticket anyways the food is pretty good but I had the worst experience today I called my order in hopes that when I went to pick up the food it would be in n out well that was far from it. I ordered soup and bbq chicken buns I get there and the order I get is pork buns I wasn’t really upset but they said we’ll make you bbq chicken buns it will only be 10 minutes well 30 mins later I’m still sitting there and when the food was finally done I grabbed my order went to my car and left bad mistake I should’ve checked it before I left I got chicken and mushroom buns not bbq chicken. Really at this point I ate my food and said well I’m done coming back. I didn’t think my order was a difficult order and was gonna be this impossible to get what I want. The people really need to listen better to what there customers are saying and instead of saying 10 mins they really should say 30 mins I understand good cooking takes time but if I was told that 30 mins is the exact time I would’ve rather went to Burger King through the drive tho for a fast trip not sitting around for the 2nd wrong order. Disappointed

I friend and Arrived on a Wednesday at about 7:30PM and there was no one there except for two sitting in the back corner and the waitress and the cook. We were given very little assistance not even a good welcome. Paper menus no top six no condiments I know ask for help with the menu we decided to order domain. Let me be very clear Santa Cruz has Apple Asian food and this is no better. We order dim sum and it first to arrive are pork buns. The sign outside the restaurant claimed they are the best. Not hard in Santa Cruz. Still lacking the next thing to arrive are shumai. To our astonishment the beef shu Mai was raw. As the are the pork dumpling. We alerted the waitress and she was bringing up our shrimp roll which was a disgusting pile of rice paper wraps on a plate certainly not what we expected. We showed the waitress that the beef was wrong but she denied it over and over and over again but we couldn’t bring ourselves to eat and asked for a check. So many things lacking from Service the food quality to cleanliness as the bottles for soy sauce and Sriacha were sticky from never being wiped down. We asked for our check and last. Hopefully we are spared from the food poisoning disaster.

Just heard about the place even though it opened last summer. We ordered a variety of dim sum and the seafood noodle soup. The soup was good as were the shrimp shui mai and bbq pork buns. The shrimp wontons were a good deal but smothered in oyster sauce. They are still using Cosctco«china»(just like I use at home) for some things but real plates for others. They have many unique dishes I haven’t seen elsewhere I would like to try in the future. Give them a try.

The staff was very kind, and this review is for the dim sum only. We ordered steamed bbq pork buns, baked pork bun, and the shrimp shumai. The steamed buns were mediocre, but not terrible, a bit worse than frozen buns from costco or trader joes. The Baked bun was when things went from bad to worse. The top of the bun was burnt until black, and the inside was stone cold. Not room temperature, but freezer cold, with the same nearly flavorless pork. The shumai came and immediately smelled horrid. We managed to finish one each, but were struggling to keep them down. They were truly one of the worst things i’ve eaten. Maybe their entrees are great, but I won’t be back to try. One star for the nice service.

The pork belly is exquisite! Best Chinese food in Santa Cruz ten times over. I’m in love. They don’t serve beer but I’m drunk on this food. Owner is incredibly friendly. Dim sum options plentiful and good

The staff(mainly lady) was very friendly, nice and communicates very well. Came in again to this quiet, unpretentious little restaurant. I think under 10 tables. We were sat and given paper menus. We ended up ordering two items from dim sum menu plus Famiky Dinner B which consisted of 1VEGE egg roll and 1 cream cheese fried won each pp w/sweet and sour sauce, a plate of sweet and sour pork, Mongolian beef and pork fried rice. Our dim sums were(3) shrimp shui Mai and 1 bowl of a protein and preserved egg porridge. We also ordered hot tea(which is not complimentary). Their is a charge. Also noticed steamed rice is a charge when ordering a dish(heard our neighbor ask) Besides the fried rice being yummy(I really love their fried rices). The Mongolian beef was above average, however it was not spicy and I never had Mongolian beef with sugar peas and zucchini. I’m used to fried cello or glass noodles, dried red Thai peppers and slivers of green onions. The sweet and sour pork was battered well but pork nuggets itself was tough, chewy and hard textured. Egg roll was light, airy, crispy and cream cheese fried wonton was crunchy and cheese was creamy. Hot jasmine tea was delivered in stereotypical metal teapots piping hot with little twigs of tea leaf stems. As for the two dim sums dishes the shrimps shumai were huge in size and price. We got 3 peices in one order at $ 6.50 an order. The meat and preserved egg was delivered piping hot and the friendly lady ladled the delicious and few ingredient rice porridge into our simple white soup cups. It actually hit the spot as it was rather blustery and cold weathered outside. We favor this very small place as it so mom n pop like, clean, very untraditionally in terms of friendliness(i.e. Very jovial and accommodating) They deliver as well I think it’s free with 3 – 4 miles with a minimum order. I think $ 30 but not 100% positive. Here’s some pics :)

Amazing! My boyfriend and I were really in the mood for some authentic dim sum and had no idea that this place had even opened, luckily it had. As we walked in we were pleasantly greeted by the owners. Everyone that we encounter was very kind. The place was very clean.(Unlike some of the other reviews, we didn’t mind if they used paper cups or not). We were amazed by how affordable the food was! 25 $ for two people is CHEAP! not to mention everything as so fresh! By far the best pork buns we have ever had! We will most definitely be back and be telling all of our friends!

Incredibly friendly staff and very acomodating to a non-standard order. Solid American Chinese food and good portions. Great cha siu bao as well. If you want dim sum or Chinese food, this place is dope.

I put on a bra and got dressed for this place? What was I thinking? NO, JUSTNO! Oh Hell No! Don’t go there. I really had high hopes for RUYi Dim Sum but once again my search for decent yum cha has been dashed. My quest continues. Upon walking in there was a table full of Asian people — a good sign right? Wrong. Little did I know that they were all relatives of the owners and I didn’t notice that no one was eating. That’s a bad sign when your own family won’t eat your food. But I digress… The cheung fan was terrible. I spit it out onto my paper plate after just one small bite. No one dared to touch it since the meat was a mystery meat and greenish gray in color. The shui mai was awful. It tasted like freezer burn. «You don’t expect me to eat that do you?» The char sui bau was inedible. «This tastes like cardboard!» The char sui was swimming in about 6 ounces of grease. «Mom, I can’t eat it. This could give me high cholesterol.» We ordered 7 dim sum dishes and they only brought out 4 but still charged us for 7. I can look past the paper plates. I can ignore the watered down sauces. I can put up with terrible, warm bubble tea made with Sweet and Low artificial sweetener but I can not tolerate bland, disgusting yum cha nor will I pay such an outrageous amount of money for it! As I sat there with tears in my eyes full of disappointment, knowing that I just paid $ 47 for crap food and that my dear family will probably get some sort of food poisoning I made a mental note to never, ever come here again. I apologized profusely to my sweet family for subjecting them to this type of gastronomic torture and promised to take everyone out for pizza later.

I went here after reading a review in the local weekly , I was the only costumer at the time and the service was poor . eat-in orders are severed on paper plates ‚ was given a warm can of coke and had to ask for a cup of ice(paper cup) although Their menu has several types of Dim Sum They were only able to show Me 3 types I ordered 2 types with 3 pieces each was able to get 3 versions of 1 type and 2 of the other 2 of the shu mai were good one was weird They never identified the differing versions to Me, the steam buns seemed old the buns were stale although the filling was OK I also ordered the Chicken and Corn Soup which took 20 minutes to get out to Me I can not recommend this place

I’ve been here twice and both times were extremely satisfying and delicious. The first time we ordered the shrimp dumplings, chicken shu mai, pork dumplings, steamed pork buns, and the garlic spareribs. My god, everything was mouth watering. The second time we got beef chow fun, pork belly with preserved mustard greens, more pork buns and pot stickers. That pork belly… This is probably the best chinese food in the whole Santa Cruz mountains area. Everyone who works here is very nice and polite. The service was excellent.

Yes, they have only been open for five weeks. However, that doesn’t excuse them for serving really bland food. We ordered the potstickers, shrimp dumplings and the spicy garlic eggplant. The potstickers barely had any filling and have very little flavor. The shrimp dumplings had very thick dumpling skins that overwhelmed the shrimp filling. The spicy garlic eggplant was NOT spicy at all. It LOOKED good, plenty of eggplant. But the flavor was just not there and it had no spice at all. There was a young boy taking orders and running the counter. No way he could have been older than 12. Nice young kid, but he was overwhelmed by the job. Our order got mixed up with another customers. The place was full of people, but I saw a lot of folks not finishing their food. The kid walked up to a table of customers to ask them if they had paid already or not. They are just not organized. I could totally overlook the lack of organization if the food was good. It’s not. Try it for yourself, but we will not be back.

No, you don’t come here for the ambiance. You come here for the great food and the kind staff. I’ve sampled the entire dim sum menu(the menu has a full compliment of traditional Chinese restaurant fair). Nothing has disappointed so far except the deep fried beef dumplings — but I don’t typically like deep fried anything. The portions are filling and affordable. As an introduction, I’d start with the shrimp shui mai and the red bean buns. Both are delicious and tame for the uninitiated. Please, enjoy!

I give it three stars for entire experience dining in and not the food. The food was 4 stars, so next time I will try just take out but I will not be coming back anytime soon as I am not that impressed and prefer to try some of the other local chinese restaurants. The dine in sit down restaurant is lacking and I do not mean décor. It is as if there is no system for taking orders and serving food. First you sit down and supposedly someone is suppose to take your order. The waitress did not take order for a long time and there was only 1 other table. The time we waited was long enough to watch her take order of other table, walk around strip mall with my one year old, return to table to see food coming out to the other table, yet we were still waiting with menus. Perhaps just ordering at the counter may be easier if they can’t take orders at the table but that was not an option. Next the utensils and plates were paper and plastic and my fork broke while eating. So maybe just maybe I will go back but for take out only.

I was sooooo excited to see this place open up around the corner from my house! Dim sum is my favorite food in the world. As in, if you have one last request for food before you die, I would choose dim sum. Plus, there are no descent places to get«traditional» dim sum in the Cruz. I was on my way to the grocery store, wasn’t even hungry and didn’t even need any dim sum, but HAD to try this place out ASAP. They had been open for just one week. So, I overlooked the«what are we doing?» and«how do you do this?» attitude of the ladies that were working the register. Just smiled and placed my order. I figured I would get the basics to start with: steamed BBQ pork buns, har gaw(shrimp dumplings, as it’s named in the menu) and siu mai. Can’t go wrong with those staples, right? I took my order to go and when I opened the package at home, they just didn’t look normal. The pork buns were an odd shape/semi-open, the dough was tough rather than spongy, and the BBQ pork all dried out. The siu mai was hard to sell to my kid as it was covered with mushrooms from the outside(there are usually just a few, hidden on the inside). Plus, there was also corn in them, which is not so familiar-looking. Upon taking a bite, the meat was reminiscent of when I had a cat to feed(not that I are cat food, but tasted like how it smells). The shrimp dumplings were ok at least, hence one star for that. Perhaps I should go back and just try the extensive list of regular Chinese food items on the menu? Maybe that’s what they do best? If so, perhaps they need to take«dim sum» off the name of this place. So with that first visit, it’s going to be hard to convince me to go here again. So disappointing!!! I really wanted to love this place. I really wanted to have a dim sum place around the corner from my house to go to every time(every other day) I get a craving for my ultimate comfort food. Oh well… I guess my inner fat girl won’t be giving in to indulgence. I’m saving myself those few extra pounds to work off, right?

Instead of being negative, I’m going to try to be positive. + free delivery for orders $ 30 and up + a mix of Chinese and Vietnamese offerings on their menu + $ 6 limit before you can use your MC/Visa + vegetarian offerings + lunch specials from 11AM-3PM, all under $ 10 + egg rolls was fried perfectly + rather clean + friendly service + sweet and sour sauce freshly made What they can do to improve: — try the shiu mai and har gow in SF or SJ — ax the corn in their shiu mai — make soy sauce available on the table for dine-in patrons instead of the packets — lower your dim sum prices… $ 3.80 is a bit much when it’s under $ 2 in SJ/SF — maybe add a shrimp or two in their shiu mai as it was pure meat — add carrots and peas to their shiu mai — provide real plates for dine-in patrons — please no yelling from the kitchen to the front and vice versa

Food was very good. I ordered the BBQ steamed bun, pork shui mai and beef noodle roll. All were very good. I am so glad there is Dim Sum in SC! The place is tiny. 3 small tables. The menu has all of you classic Chinese favorites with a good size Dim Sum menu as well as some house specialties. It is completely family owned and operated. The place was clean and welcoming. I will define or the back.
