Several choices of poke. I recommend the wet hawaiian. It’s their most popular. Order a poke bowl. Brown or white rice with 2 choices of poke and one topping(I got seaweed salad).

Now that’s some ono lunch! Try the smoked pork and onions if it’s available. The poke are fresh and well made. A great find. I’m already planning my next trip back.

Awesome and fresh. Great people who run both locations. The poke bowl is a great lunch. Just the right size. Will be back again and again

This is my first visit to Hawaii and poke was on my list of things to try. Da Poke Shack had great reviews, and my husband and I randomly found it while driving back from a trip to Two Step. We put together our poke bowl based on recommendations from Koko and we were not disappointed. It was so good and the fish tasted very fresh. While we were checking out, Koko spent some time chatting with us about our plans for the rest of our trip and provided us with some great recommendations. Great food, and awesome, friendly service. We definitely recommend this place.

Whatever your poke pleasure, this place has it. There are two locations, but this one has a couple more shrimp options. The staff is really helpful and this location is a little less crowded and touristy than the one down in Kona.

This little spot sits on the side of the two-lane highway that runs south of Kona and probably one you can easily miss if you’re not looking out for it. Hankering for some real island poke – we had tried the poke from Costco’s deli dept. and that was rather salty and only so so – we had marked Da Poke Shack as a place to visit. The poke was excellent! When ordering a Poke Bowl($ 12.50), you have a variety of choices for the side and for the poke itself. If we had the time and the determination, I would have ordered more than one bowl. As it was, I ordered the Shack Special and the Wet Hawaiian poke, the latter having won a poke contest award according to its placard. Indeed, both were very tasty! Outside, you can enjoy the sitting area or just enjoy it in the car as we did. But if you like mingling with chickens, definitely sit outside as you’ll find some roaming around the grounds.

The lady who helped us was very patient and helpful. She has some purple color in her hair! She explained us the difference between the bowl and plate. We choose the plate with Kalua pig, and our choice of Pele poke(spicy ahi poke). We also got to try some of the Hawaiian poke! We also picked up the Haupia. So lucky we got the last bit of poke. Should have went earlier so we could get more variety and poke! They only had two choices left by 6pm, and we took it all! They sell out before 7pm!

Some of the freshest poke I’ve ever had. Kimchi mussels were to die for. I highly recommend trying as much as possible worth every penny. Can’t wait to go back.

I have been really excited to try some Hawaiian Poke and Da Poke Shack does not disappoint! My brother and I shared the poke platter which includes two bowls of rice, two sides, and 4 different varieties of poke! The staff behind the counter was extremely helpful for us tourists and we absolutely loved her recommendations! For sides we had seaweed salad and broccoli and crab meat slaw. We chose the shoyu, wet Hawaiian, avocado, and kiss of pele. All were so tasty! I am hoping we can make another stop here before our time in Hawaii is up!

We ate here back to back days from our snorkeling adventures atTwo Step Beach. I will admit we stopped for the BBQ so that I could eat that and my hubby would eat da poke but the place next door was closed so I tried her pulled pork. Yummy! I’m glad I got the rice with seasoning and potato salad. The food is so tasty and fresh! The next day we arrived, the BBQ place was opened and we still chose to eat here. We will try eating again before we leave. Friendly service, fresh food and happy taste buds live here.

The lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. We were able to try samples of every kind of poke before deciding to buy a half pound each of three different kinds of poke. She brought a fresh batch from the kitchen, claiming that it was«award winner,» and indeed it was the group’s favorite(I believe it was called the Wet Hawaiian, which sounds kind of like an inappropriate movie…)! The coconut haupia was also delicious. Unfortunately we missed one at the bottom of the bag and found it at the end of our vacation. I also loved how they had a variety of shirts. My fiancé loved the one that imitated the Tap Out logo(the meathead that he is…) but alas they were out of sizes. According to the lady, they are setting up an online store soon to sell their gear!

Stopped by on our way to Kilauea volcano and was so glad we did. I had the pork Lau Lau with a side of seaweed salad. My girlfriend had the poke bowl with garlic shrimp, crab n broccoli salad. We were both satisfied with the portion size. Also, you can sample the different pokes before ordering…

First I want to mention I’m not a fan of poke! However our friends visiting are and we stopped here to grab a bite! Ummmm DELICIOUS!!! Although I wouldn’t eat poke everyday there is much more to this place than poke they have delicious kalua pork, garlic shrimp/prawns, mussels and great side salads. Super friendly even when having to repeat everything to all the newbies to poke and visitors alike. I’ve given this location an additional star because they use environmentally friendly take out containers and not styrofoam, something I’m happy to see and always look for when I can.

Hands down the best poke we had on our trip thus far and we have had poke everyday! Great variety of flavors and SIDE options. We tasted the tako(octopus) and I liked it but I love poke more lol. The poke dish includes 2 choices of poke, tako or shrimp, 1 side, and one scoop of rice. We got the Li hing pineapple and it was SO Ono! Tip: captain cook location is supposedly bigger and didn’t have a line out the door like the kona one supposedly has. Ask for samples, they’re really nice about it. Also check in to Unilocal!I was a bad Unilocal elite and was too excited about the poke and pineapple that I totally forgot! $ 1 off supposedly ! :( A must do on the big island !

Ok, to start, I have to admit I hate fish. But my wife loves it and raved about what she had here. The folks we shared a picnic table did too. My wife talked about how fresh and delicious it was. The service was friendly, with samples of whatever you wanted cheerfully provided. The poke is made on premises. They ran out of one variety; the woman went in back and made more when my wife asked about it. I had some pork BBQ that was ridiculously good. I’m from North Carolina and can be particular about how folks cook a pig. I would put this against anything I could get in NC. It is t the same, the flavor is different, but it was every bit its equal in terms of taste and quality.

Terrific poke — which I just discovered! — and fabulous service. I’m not usually a raw tuna eater, besides the occasional spicy tuna roll, but I could come back to this place again. The most authentic meal I’ve had on the Big Island.

Loved this place. The service was quick and I love how many poke and side options there are. About $ 9 for two choices of poke and a side plus rice. And love that there’s an option for brown rice and adding furikake(seaweed sesame seasoning), which I got. Everything tasted fresh and it was the perfect portion. Also love the location here at Captain Cook, which is up the mountain a bit and away from the crowded Kailua downtown area. Outdoor seating was perfect!

We were staying a little ways south of the Poke Shack and kept passing it while we drove up to go snorkeling. One day we decided to stop in and try the poke. The fish was fresh and the sauce it was in was decent, if not a little over powering. I ordered the crab salad as my side, not knowing it was imitation crab, and I certainly regretted this decision. It was all mayo and pretty boring. I would have loved some more fish options, maybe I came in close to closing time or something? The case seemed pretty empty. This is a solid place to stop in for a quick bite on your way somewhere, but I wouldn’t make this a poke destination.

«Poke Shack, #1 on Unilocal» No joke, its printed on a shirt that’s right on the window. The lady makes poke a couple of times a day so you need to be patient. It’s worth the wait. She has a lot of options… like mussels, crab, and all kinds of fresh fish. I destroyed the $ 6.50 poke bowl. 2 types of Tako(Octopus), rice and seaweed salad. $ 6.50…holy cheap and deelish. Could be the best local joint on the Island. Mahalo.
