I mean, it’s a Denny’s. You get what you pay for. Because this is a college town location, it’s full of any wide variety of clientele. More often than not when we come here, it’s late at night and full of drunken college kids. Not a bad thing per se, but it can definitely be loud and irritating. They also have a tendency to be out of product. So, go in with a backup plan if you already know what you want to order. Most recently on our visit, I came to redeem my free birthday Grand Slam. I got bacon, hash browns, two over easy eggs, and pancakes. It was okay. The two bacon pieces were so tiny they were like doll food. The hashbrowns were cold and mushy. The eggs were cooked well and the pancakes were okay. I’d have been more disappointed, except it was free. Can’t complain to much about that. My stomach didn’t like me too much later, but free food. The server was attentive and friendly, but forgot part of our table’s order, and we had to get it to-go because we had to get back to campus for class. The perk of Denny’s is that it’s open 24⁄7 and is super cheap. It gets the job done.

Well. My experience is in line with the others, unfortunately. I was so hoping for a rock star experience. Granted I went on Memorial Day weekend; however, based on our experience, the MO for this location is what it is. In a nutshell. Waited 10 minutes to sit down. No biggie. Received coffee straight away. Ordered promptly. Waited 45 minutes to receive food. Egg whites hot. Turkey bacon hot. English muffin hot. Grits, ice cold. Red flag. They weren’t just made which is nauseating to think about. Soap in restroom didn’t work but hand sanitizer did. The floors at this location desperately need to be cleaned. Couldn’t tell the servers from the patrons. What ever happened to uniforms? This place is ridiculously busy. It’s the only chain breakfast in Carbondale. Go to Harbaughs!

I ordered the value slam with toast instead of pancakes. I was told this would cost $ 1.89 more. I ordered eggs, fried hard and the bacon crispy. I was not given the pancakes with my slam«because I wanted toast instead» the toast I paid $ 1.89 extra for. The bacon came raw and I immediately sent it back. I cut into the eggs and they were runny, so I sent them back as well. The only jelly in the holder were two empty packets. By the time the eggs and bacon came my $ 1.89 toast was ice cold. And the coffee must have been made by Lisa Dogulas of Greenacres, it pored like crude oil. Try Marry Lou’s!

We always enjoy having breakfast at Denny’s in Carbondale. The food is typical«made from scratch» packaged chain restaurant food. The best is the environment and the people. Denny’s must have the best horticulturist in the world because every visit is an adventure in new growth from the carpeting. The customers are a hoot because it appears that most are extremely overweight and heavily tattooed, but that is to be expected in a college town. As other reviewers have stated the employees are the most entertaining. From Hitler’s nanny to some of the nicest and hardest workers one can imagine.(Tattoos included). Always a delight to be at Denny’s. Very entertaining, extraordinarily ordinary food, and a great place to get a power nap while waiting on the food or viewing the new plants growing from the carpet.

This Denny’s sucks. Most Denny’s suck. But this one. Is TERRIBLE. I’ve never had a meal here that has taken less than a hour to get to the table and that is being generous. The staff is mediocre and the kitchen is super slow. Never go to this Denny’s after 10 p.m. service slows to an even slower crawl. Never again.

Food is nothing to write home about, but the staff at this Denny’s make this location one to visit. They are always friendly and make a conscious effort to ensure that everyone is taken care of. On multiple occasions, I have seen the staff work fluidly together as a team with no tension between staff members. Even when the kitchen is backed up on a Sunday morning, the staff is able to cope and keep the customers happy.

The food is great, but the service here is just horrible. Literally took them 3 hours to serve my burger I ordered. Then I went back with 2 of my friends and their food never showed up until 3 hours after they ordered, which at this point, they were just angry and not hungry anymore. it is worth noting we were all studying for a Physics Exam so makes sense why we lost track of time, but come on, 3 hours? Is that the average? I been to different Dennys and service has been way better elsewhere.

If your only two choices in life were to starve or eat at Denny’s…remember that starving isn’t so bad. First of all, Denny’s is on the outskirts of town. SO terrible food aside, it’s not even in a convenient location. Second and most importantly, I have never had a good meal at a Denny’s. The quality of the staff is hit or miss. Some can be very pleasant, and others can be extremely rude and discourteous. I’ve tried 3 different Denny’s locations a total of 6 – 7 times in my life, and the food has ALWAYS made me sick. I don’t know what it is, but there is nothing so good about a Denny’s that makes it worth a trip. Starving is your best bet.

Hit and miss. Sometimes the food and service are great, other times not. Unfortunately my boyfriend always pukes after we eat here sooo. It seems like I always get stuck between what I want and then after I eat what I ordered it’s never fully satisfying and I’ll wish I had gone with something else… also if you go late, all the Carbondale freaks come out and you see some weird things at Dennys…

First off, it is cleaner than most denny’s restaurants that i’ve been at, so thats a plus, the minus being that unless you are white the cook really doesn’t like you, some of the servers are great and very friendly, and theres 1 or 2 you want to stay clear of. the service is prompt, depending on the time of day you go, but the inconsistencies in food quality is what gets me, one day it will be an amazing meal, the other… well you know what i mean! so here’s a star for cleanliness, and for good wait staff and service. all in all not a bad bargain! hope this helps

It’s usually busiest after the bars close at 2 a.m., but the service is usually quick and good. They recently hired security to pace the floor there because of all the drunk people that came in and did stupid stuff. I’ve been here probably 6 – 10 times over the years, and the food was always what you expected and never had an issue.

The family and i were looking for a place to eat breakfast. I wasnt too eager to go here because it sounded like a WaHo or IHOP. There was no where else to go(forgot about the Panera bread right down the street) so we checked it out. Yummy food and waitress was nice.
