We were a group of six that was seated immediately, even though the place was rather busy. Reason for this is the multitude of tables(a little too many as it’s very cramped for even the wait staff to navigate through). Other than that, the atmosphere and waitstaff were pretty good. The waitstaff could probably make more frequent visits to the table, but with how crowded it was, that was likely not possible without other tables suffering. The menu is very large and should be able to suit just about any taste. From what I remember, they offer breakfast all day, various styles of dishes(Italian, Greek, Seafood, American, etc.), and a large dessert menu. The consensus among the group that the food ranged from OK to excellent. Personally, I had the Lamb Gyro and was not bad, but not good either. Rather bland, actually. They need to work on the flavoring of the lamb and Tzatziki sauce. Fries and cole slaw were the highlight of the meal, not the main course.

Middlesex diner one of the staple diners on the Carlisle/Harrisburg Pike, small improvements can be done at the seating area near the kitchen. the chairs are not angled correctly and one feels they may actually tip backwards. The menu has been revised down to 4 page spiral bound menu, some are clean, some look liked they needed had leftover food from customers 4 months ago with leftover food bits. the condiments trays have definitely NOT been cleaned out for a while. the sugar containers have NOT been through a dishwasher. The flatware was not shiny, old and probably was used to serve President Lincoln. Scorch marks/grease marks on the broilers are a good indicator that John Taffer and Gordon Ramsey would be screaming at the top of their lungs to shut the place down until the kitchen was scrubbed to the nth degree. The milk dispensing machine has a broken drain tray. the dessert cooler had a shelf in it that is very visible to customers that the coating on the tray has started to peel away exposing the metal to the food. There was a half glass of chocolate milk in the cooler that was uncovered left against the door. scissors left on top of the dessert cooler. i tried explaining it to waitress, OSHA violation, the waitress didn’t care, so glad she is concerned for the next person who accidentally bumps the cooler and the scissors fall pointy edge into the person

The Middlesex diner is a local favorite. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. I have been to Middlesex diner on many occasions and have never been dissatisfied. The only thing I’d improve about the diner is its outdated décor.

The best best diner around town. Good food and plenty of it. They just need to upgrade the interior and this place would be the best diner in town. This place is cheaper the walnut bottom diner too

Great, tasty food! I highly recommend any of their seafood entrees. My wife really liked their lasagna. It’s some of the best lasagna anywhere. Great service.

Reminds me of the old truck stops from back in the 70s. Great comfort food. Great service. Friendly staff! Got out food in a relatively short amount of time.

The diner is located near my office. The waitresses are always friendly and outgoing. They quickly take your order and get your food to you really hot and fresh. I had one of the specials today — chicken ranch wrap. It was tasty but not gourmet then again they don’t pretend to be anything but a diner. Great choice for a lunch on both a budget and time crunch.

A lot of food and decent prices. I met my brother and his children and grandchildren for dinner. The portions were large and you get your choice of a salad or soup plus 2 side dishes with the dinners. My nephew got their crab stuffed flounder and said it was really good and his friend got the chicken kiev, my niece got the large greek salad and it was huge. I had a greek salad as my side and my only complaint is, they do not use kalamata olives. Just sliced canned olives. My great-nephew got the chicken quesadilla and just loved it. We had their onion rings as an appetizer, really good. The service was quick and our server was very good.

On our way back from Harrisburg we were given a tip by a friend to stop here to eat. Upon entering the restaurant there was a dead bird under the tree at the entrance which I don’t know if that was a good or bad sign. Food was plentiful and hot. My husbands pork chops were alittle over cooked and dry. But my stuffed chicken with crab was delicious. After our meal I visited the restroom where the floors seemed dirty with a used bloody tampon on the floor. Would recommend any food with their crab but the cleanliness needs more attention.

I would give 5 stars but the hostess was surly and unpleasant. She sat us down without enough silverware and was extremely unpleasant on July 3 at 0900. Luckily, our server was a sweetheart. Tons of food. I had the Reese Peanut Butter Cup pancakes. They were DELICIOUS! My friends had a Belgian waffle and chipped beef, which was an absolutely huge portion.

Great diner. Great food, great prices, and great service. What more can you ask for? Stopped in for lunch on our road trip because of the other reviews. I was surprised by how large the location was. Lots of seating, including lots of booths. The service was friendly and quick. The burger and fries were great. And I’m not used to prices outside of New England. Definitely affordable. They have a kids menu and a senior citizens menu. I even overheard our waitress helping an older patron figure out how she could get what she wanted for the cheapest price. The only possible criticism would be to have more freshly made desserts. If I had it to do over again, I would order one of the homemade specials. Otherwise, this is the perfect diner.

I visit here frequently Most recent visit before posting review was in March 2015 I love diners and always will. I go here pretty frequently and the only complaint I have is about home fries. Even when I’ve requested them well-browned, they’ve come out moderately browned and very greasy. I used to eat there at least once a month for breakfast, but have begun going to a different diner for breakfast because of this. Otherwise, this is a wonderful diner! I think I’ve only had slow service once or twice, and that was when it was SUPER busy. Food typically comes out very fast and service is just as fast. The bill definitely won’t hurt your pocket either! This isn’t fancy cooking. This is your typical diner, almost home cooking type of food. It definitely hits the spot!

I wouldn’t send a man to eat at this dump for love nor money. Even if he hadn’t tasted food in 3 decades and there was no place else to go within 368 miles, even if this was free and all you can stuff in your gullet, even if the gruel were served by naked women, on golden platters, DONOTWASTEYOURTIMEANDMONEY. How incompetent must you be to first… screw up an 8 wing appetizer by serving 7… after 20 minutes and second, serve poached eggs 40 minutes after they were ordered and STILL serve inedible trash?! I will make sure that EVERY person I know is aware to avoid this place. Oh, if you know a Hoover salesman, send him over. That dump looks like it ain’t be cleaned in a coons age. I will NEVER waste my time and money there ever again. If I could give negative stars, you bet your ass I’d be subtracting them NOW.

Really solid diner. Reminded me of the movie Thelma and Louise.(Louise worked at a diner) very faced paced and all the waitress were chit chatting about their kids and what not. My waitress was very friendly and attentive and the food was what I expected. Looks like they do some serious business here. The place was jumping at noon on a Friday.

We were in the area for a softball tournament on Fourth of July and needed someplace for 35 people to eat. Our hotel recommended Middlesex Diner. We were in the mood for something a little«higher» than a diner so we tried calling three other places — all were closing or closed. The amusement place we were at suggested Middlesex Diner. With no other options and two recommendations, we called. The woman who answered the phone said no problem, so we were set. We arrived 15 minutes late, and still no problem. One waitress started taking the orders and we were worried — never have 3 waiters/waitresses been able to handle taking the whole team and families’ order. Low and behold, within minutes our food started coming out. Appetizers and salads came out, in proper time our entrees came out. There were maybe one or two miscues — nothing for a party of this size. The whole time the waitress and busers were friendly and helpful. The manager came in several times to make sure everything was okay. Could not have had better service! Oh, I almost forgot about the food. Keep in mind, this was a diner, but my steak was very good, cooked how I asked and tasty. Definitely better than your average diner(and Long Island has a lot of diners). I would not hesitate to return to Middlesex Diner when in the area.
