My family and I are breakfast people! This place is one we will NOT be returning too! There were maybe 4 people in the whole place including the 3 of us! Should have been a clue! Their menu states that no substitutions will be made! Things that should be included were not and everything was outrageously priced. The red potatoes had brown spots like they had been sitting out, the banana pancakes were jiggly and raw, the coffee was horrible and I found 2 hairs in my food! Slow service and tasteless undercooked food!!!

We came here based on other Unilocal reviews and were not disappointed. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals, and I thought the meatloaf was some of the best I’ve ever had.

I wanted so badly to like this place! Friendly staff and a cool atmosphere that was more homey than slick and pretentious. Good points: we were seated quickly, the staff was friendly and attentive, the menu was diverse and fairly affordable. Not so good points: my wife found not one but two hairs in her food, my son had jelly stuck to his chair, my bacon omelette had no bacon in it, not the cleanest facility I’ve been to, and the coffee was lousy. I do not believe we will repeat this place.

I typically enjoy taking my grandkids here(local, casual, friendly service, good food) but today I was very disappointed about breakfast and had to share… I ordered two 2-egg omelettes with a side of bacon and sausage for my 6 and 7 year old grandkids and when the bill came, the waitress had charged me $ 24 just for that. I was shocked when she said she charged me full-price for adult portion«custom» omelettes even though we ordered child portions with no potatoes or toast. I wish she would have let me know while ordering how much this was going to cost. I would have changed things up. Very frustrating and makes me want to find a new hang out.

Very good place for casual dinning for lunch or dinner. The foods are consistent and delicious. Very general portion. The service is alway fabulous.

Gale is the absolute best server in town. She knows names and is really good remembering faces. The reason we started going every weekend is the bottomless mimosas. But even if they didn’t have them Gale would most definitely have us coming back.

This place is what a Great Restaurant. is all about! Great service, great food, plenty of parking, capable of handling large parties 25+. My compliments to the Chef; Best chicken fried steak with apple sauce and scrambled eggs was very tasty not to mention the chocolate shake. What impressed me most was the staff and the waitresses who waited on a group of 35 Harley Davidson riders like a military operation. Special shout to Jessica, your a TOPGUN Waitress and we thank you!

Great breakfast place in Carlsbad, away from all the tourists. They had quite a few good items on the menu, some of which are only for the weekends. Since we were there on a Monday, didn’t get to try them, but the items we had, pancakes and an omelet, were very good. Make sure to check out the walls for pictures of famous Bobs. They also have a section for not so famous Bobs.

Found this place on Unilocal, after doing a MADD5k in the area. I was really hungry and was really looking forward to trying somewhere new. We arrived around 10am, and were seated right away. For whatever reason, I really wanted lunch… not breakfast. I was able to order off the lunch menu, and was told I could have ordered lunch at 6am if I wanted :) I decided to order the Nacho appetizer with chili, to try. For my meal I ordered the Corned Beef and Swiss. I asked if they had coleslaw, and the waitress explained the did but it wasnt your typical coleslaw. I wanted to put it on my sandwich, but she explained what it had in it, and it sounded too sweet, so I passed. The nachos were good, as well as my Corned Beef and Swiss sandwich! Its always a little shady ordering this type of sandwich outside of a deli, but it was really good. The service was good, and everyone was so friendly. There was a gentleman in the corner table behind us, and I asked the waitress if she thought he was a marine. She volunteered to ask him, and he said yes. I told her if he was I wanted to pay for his breakfast. He got up to leave, and I thanked him for his service. He introduced himself on his way past us, and thanked us. There is a sign on the outside of this restaurant, «God Bless Our Troops» and I agree. I appreciate them every day. I hope to be back in this area in the future and will come back here for sure! The breakfast looked amazing so I will have to give that a try next time!

Staying in Carlsbad for the night. Wanted to check out a local eatery instead of the chain restaurants for breakfast. Nice little hole in the wall. Almost missed it — was typically looking for a strip mall kinda place plus construction across the street made me look farther down road. Anyways ordered the country fried steak and eggs with biscuit and gravy. Also ordered banana walnut pancakes with bacon. The country fried steak was a bit smaller than I anticipated but was really tasty same with the biscuit and gravy. I would definitely get that again. Pancakes were good as well. Hard to comment on pancakes only if it wasn’t up to par. Bacon a little thin and floppy. I prefer a thicker and crispier kinda piggy. Over all a very nice find. I’d come back again and try other items on the menu.

Pretty good old school type diner. Coffee is decent. Service is friendly and prompt. I had the breakfast chicken fried steak, which was really good. The steak was very flavorful with a nice crispy outside, but the portion was small. The home fries were good, but a bit underdone. Only get your toast buttered if you want a stick of butter with your toast.

Saw other reviews, so I decided to check this place out for breakfast. Long story short: I give this place an A+ We were promptly seated and the staff was very friendly and detailed on our order. The décor is diner style; friendly. My girlfriend ordered the traditional two egg breakfast with bacon. I ordered the ribeye breakfast with three eggs. The portions were huge and on point. My girlfriends eggs and bacon was perfect. My steak was a real ribeye(not a cheap, thin steak). Well flavored and cooked perfectly(medium). The waitress was awesome. We did not have to ask for refills … Imagine that! This is a classic, throwback restaurant. They don’t even have registers. They still use a calculator. They do process credit cards … If you are in the San Diego area and want to check out a hidden, local gem … This is the place. This will remain on my list … whenever I travel to this area. Highly recommended.

My first experience was better than yesterday… I ordered a cup of chili yesterday. It was really good… however I like a little fresh onion so I asked for a little fresh onion. The server brought out a little fresh onion(about 1 ½ TBLS) and charged me $ 1.00 without telling me this condiment would be extra. The salsa is not extra so who would think a little onion would be… I can see cheese, etc. would be extra… but a little onion !!! PLEASE share with customers prices for«extra condiments» as it is annoying to see this on you bill without knowing it beforehand and would be disappointing for you should it be deducted from your tip. We will be back… I’d like to try the meatloaf… by the way… are the mashed potatoes«real»…

A decent diner with ample free parking. Their orange juice is fresh squeezed and fairly priced. French fries here are delicious. They refrigerate their tomatoes. This is a particular pet peeve of mine. Tomatoes are permanently altered – losing serious amounts of both flavor and antioxidants once stored at any temperature below 56 degrees. Service can be spotty: waitresses tend to disappear in the kitchen area(maybe doing clean up work or maybe just hiding from the customers in the dining room). Either way, they need to spend more of their time tending to their customers in the dining room. This is particularly annoying when you wait 20+ minutes for your waitress to reappear — only to be cheerfully informed«the grill just closed» when you finally see her. This cute diner would benefit from: 1) A good carpet cleaning and a habit of wiping down their sticky menus. 2) Some advertising.

A great old style diner just a couple miles from Legoland. As it’s name suggests, it is a bit tucked away but easy to find with today’s technology. Julie, our server, did an excellent job in spite of being the only server on hand for most of the morning. She was busy, but did her best to make us feel like we were the only table in the place. She was friendly and efficient, and provided excellent customer service from start to finish. They have a ton of breakfast specials, and good sized portions. I had the french toast combo(see picture), and left satisfied. At the end of the meal, Julie gave my son a free chocolate chip cookie to take home. It seems like something they do for all kids, and is a nice way to end a meal. If you live in the area, or are visiting Legoland, I highly suggest stopping in here for breakfast.

I had drove by this place several times and knew one day I would stop in to see what it is all about. The name had mean curious of what it had to offer. There was plenty of free parking up front when I first arrived. As I entered there was two other older couples enjoying dinner but no hostess up front. I waited a few minutes and then was greeted to follow her. I have to say her because she never gave us her name. When we sat down our drinks were ordered right away but the host just did not seem interested in smiling or having any conversation. Anyhow, Lucy then came over and she was more cheerful and ready to take our order. I ordered a cup of the famous award winning chilli and a Grilled Cheese with bacon and tomato. The sandwich came with fries and it all amounted to less then $ 12. When the food arrived it was served fresh and hot. The flavors were okay nothing special kinda tasted like the grilled cheese I cook on my own. The chilli was the same not bad but not the best I ever had. I was intrigued by the atmosphere as it gives your that old diner feel but the food and menu were just average.
