My favorite pizza place in San Diego! I’ve lived here my whole life and this is the place!

Best thin crust pizza in San Diego. Ingredients are the best I’ve had and the sauce is perfect. Distinctive without overpowering the toppings. They have super giant pizzas, too, for when you have a small army coming over and need to fill ‘em up. Other food is spotty. Very small salad bar that has been well-stocked and other times very poorly maintained and cleaned. Never eaten entrees other than pizza, but with a name like, «That PIZZA Place,» wtf are you thinking to order anything else? Saw someone complain about the chicken parm sandwich? smh Word to the food-wise: order specialty pizzas. Whoever put them together knew what they were doing. Best, you ask? Meat lovers, BBQ Chicken, House special. Really, you can’t go wrong with any pizza you get there.

Wow. The people that worked there could not have been nicer, but the food is really bad. I got a chicken parmesan sandwich. It was really bad. That’s all I can say. Just really really bad. I wanted so much to say something nice about their food, bit I can’t. It was just bad.

That Pizza Place is a favorite of my family. The House special is the only thing I have ever gotten but it is just so, so good. This establishment has been here for I don’t know how many years but appears that things are exactly the same as they would have been when they first opened back in the 70s or 80s. No problem! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? We’ve never had a bad pizza here and the salad bar is great for loading up on the healthy stuff, just to make it all unhealthy with a giant dollop of ranch or blue cheese dressing. The arcade games are a hit with the kids too. And they always have a great selection of beers to go with your food. Top all of this off with a few big screen tvs to watch whatever game is on, and you’ve got yourself a nice little local joint!

Had been recommended by a few friends several times. I finally decided to go check it out. Pretty good, but nothing special. For price and convenience(about 15 mins from my house), I could do much better. I’ll prob still give it another try, but not in a big hurry.

Not bad, boys liked the pizza, everything else was kinda ‘meh.’ Was a great place for a kids end-of-season thing, and the prices were reasonable.

Great neighborhood pizza place. The lunch special is great. Personal pizza, salad bar and a drink for $ 7. Place is fun for everyone.

Excellent place to take the family for pizza. Have games for the kids(along with two different $.01 rides), couple of tv’s to watch the game, and some good local beers on tap.

I’ve had frozen pizza that was better quality than That Pizza Place. Great atmosphere and nice staff but the pizza was really bad. The crust was bland, the sauce was used sparingly, the cheese rubbery and the veggies on top were practically raw. It was quite expensive too. I had to smother my pizza with peppers and parmesan to add any kind flavor. Will ever come back and would not recommend. There are far better pizza places in the area that taste better and are less expensive.

They would get five stars if they had a better salad bar and a better beer selection. The pizza is amazing. The toppings go all the way to the edge. The crust is cheesy topping goodness. The sauce is out of this world(order extra sauce) and it is definitely homemade. There’s a small town feel to the place that is wonderful and the wallpaper has been around as long as the building has, but the kitchen looks spotless.

Since my last review I have learned that you can order«thin crust». This makes a WORLD of difference(sometimes). Thin pizzas are never half-cooked…but they are never consistent; sometimes they are really floppy and over-sauced and other times they are crisp on the bottom and delicious. I have been getting pizzas here since I was little; I had my 8th birthday there and that was thirty years ago. A decade ago every pizza we got there was awesome… nowdays, it’s a crap-shoot. If you go at the right time(maybe after lunch…1:30) then you are in for a treat! Don’t go any day at dinnertime or you will get an under-cooked pie. They have recently hired all new people that prefer to chat and goof off while your pizza cools on the counter, waiting to be cut.

An awesome little pizza and craft brew restaurant with an excellent salad bar and great customer service. The choice of craft beer is pretty darn good and the pizza is on FLEEK! They also have a really cool atmosphere and NFL Sunday Ticket!

This place smells like 1977. I don’t think the carpets been replaced since then. It’s musty and dusty. I really wonder how there is an A on the window. The food is so so. Salad bar was filthy. Kids games were filthy with finger prints and grime. I didn’t go in the bathroom… I can imagine how bad it looks. It would take one day to whip that place into shape, I hope someone does.

Have been coming here for years for the fab lunch deal. $ 7 for Salad bar, soda, and personal pizza? Works for me! If you’re expecting the fancy, coal-fired, premium topping pizza place, this ain’t your joint. Rather, this is a down home, local run, old school, family style, pizza parlour. Having said that, the quality is the same, they just don’t offer all the fancy accoutrements that other, newer places will offer. And that isn’t such a bad thing. I’ve never been disappointed with the quality or the service.

I’ve been coming here for years and the pizza is consistently tasty and delightful. Their dough is unique and the sauce is not bland nor overpowering. It even tastes like pure joy when cold the next day(come on we all know that guilty morning cold pizza can be super hit or miss… but just a big hit here… and come on you already ate unhealthily while initially powering thru the tomato pie… so you may as well do it twice since it’s so nice). Even the BBQ chicken pizza is a marvel in the mouth. And if you are reading this review in MAY… you are in LUCK… their Cinco de Mayo pizza for the month of MAY is out of bounds LEGIT. Get a normal pizza and the Cinco de Mayo and see how you will be equally satisfied… and armed with a whole new take on pizza. Ok whoever is complaining about noise on a weekend night needs to call the wambulence… it’s a family and kid-friendly restaurant that attracts a lot of the sports business in the area too… not to mention it’s a pizza place not Vigalucci’s! Come on people, the high horse waits for you outside to get back on and ride to La Costa.

First expression is that the setting is perfect for families, pinic bench seating along with tvs and kids games. Décor lost me a bit but it was perfectfor bringing the whole family. The menu includes pizza and variations of pizza sandwiches, calzones, and meatball sandwiches. Suprised they do not have pasta and the salad bar looked unappealing. Pizza was decent. Needed more sauce on the calzone and meatball sandwiches. Did not enjoy that you cannot self serve soft drinks and you have to be served-upgraded needed. Staff was okay, not 5 stars but decent.

This pizza place, I mean That Pizza Place is great for families with kids. It’s busy and noisy so your kids won’t bother anyone as they run off to the small arcade. The salad bar was okay at $ 5.50. They pizza was okay too. We went with a «really big one» aka XL half house special and half cheese. Some places will split the cost for you, but here it’s the full charge of the more expensive option, I get it but it still bugs. Thinner crust with too thinly sliced toppings(more generous look but only in looks-looks like ample green peppers but without the snap of a bell pepper) all the way out to the edge so it gives the appearance of a full pizza. Small amounts of cheese: the 4 yr old doesn’t like always like cheese but it was so sparse she couldn’t pull it off her slice in one piece as there wasn’t enough to melt together to become one large piece covering the full slice. The guy working the bar and gal at the register(two separate areas for ordering and picking up food and beverages) were both very polite and friendly. Earned back a star for having decent beers on tap.

Eh, I’ve had better. It was $ 30 for a large pepperoni and Cesar salad. It was alright. I didn’t leave hungry OE anything but I’ve had better most other places. It has a stereotypical pizza place atmosphere with bench seats and arcade games. Tue Cesar salad we got was very heavily dressed and the dressing tasted more like mayo than Cesar. The cheese was mozzarella instead of parm. OK. The pizza sauce tasted like it wasn’t homemade. The cheese was firm and congealed within minutes. It was barely a step above little Cesar’s for me.

I gotta tell you… I’ve been coming here for over 30 years now. My soccer picture from when I was 6 is up on the wall. I remember riding that decrepit horse for pennies back in the day and will soon put my son on that same ridable death trap for the same amount of pennies. I love That Pizza Place. Its a Carlsbad institution. The décor hasn’t changed since it opened, save for a few new posters and plaques on the walls. The pizza is still brilliant, slight sugary burn to the crust, the best pepperoni I’ve ever had at any pizza joint, mushrooms sliced thin and piled up when you want them, and the best cooked tomatoes that are never dry and never soak the bread with juice. This 5-Star review is not just having knee jerk love of a place I grew up with. This has been decades in the making, years of market research of other pizza joints, and countless hours scarfing slice after slice. This is an informed opinion, damn it! And it must profess it’s admiration and thorough enjoyment of That Pizza Place on Unilocal and to the rafters. Eat it and love it yourself. Oh, and $ 7 for a small pizza, salad bar, and drink rocks for lunch.
