Don’t let the plethora of dogs that seem to be a perpetual mainstay at the front door sway you from making your way to the lounge for a drink and some nibbles. The bar area is friendly, cozy and easy to saddle up to. Quite a few specialty cocktails are ready for you to imbibe and then there’s the food. Our small business group met upstairs and it was the perfect spot for a social work meeting. We shared a few appetizers such as the calamari, beet salad, and Brussel sprouts. Portions were ok for sharing. We all had drinks, my fave being the«Between the Sheets» and we blew through the entrée menu. Everyone left happy, and satiated. I’m looking forward to coming back on my own sometime.

Almost don’t want to advertise, but John behind the bar deserves a gold medal. Exceptional service and palate. Order one you know and put yourself in his hands for the 2nd round.

I arrived because it was rainy and decided to have lunch. Asked for a buttery Chardonnay received a beautiful glass of wine($ 19 ahhhh a little pricey but nice) and then ordered calamari and a Caesar salad. The calamari was soggy and did not taste good… the Caesar salad was nice. Because I was by myself I was not really attended too. Waiters, waitresses and bartenders passed me but yet I had to ask for a refill on water and then had to ask for my bill even though I was done for over 10 minutes. I was planning on getting a coffee but it took too long. The benches and pillows in the lounge were super comfortable and I loved the ambiance. The games were on so to watch football games it was nice

We are locals and have tried dinner here a few times… Wanting to like it… It is just so very bad. So MEDIOCRE!!! It is a pity that a menu so small cannot be great… or even good. When people are in town they want to go there, but it is always a disappointment. We are embarrassed that we take them there… We will not go back. There are too many places to go that care about the quality of food and service. We will let the tourists have this one. Welcome to it. PITY

Terrible service. I don’t normally really care about service, but it was so bad we left pretty annoyed. Started with host looking kind of displeased we didn’t want dinner, just drinks. I mean, sorry? But whatever. Eventually got seated and ordered a glass of wine and a ginger beer(saw they had cock n bull). Server brought gingerale from soda tap instead(not to be bitchy but yuck, I hate high fructose garbage and that wasn’t what i ordered). husband’s wine was«fine.» But I let it go because by the time I realized it server was gone and seemed busy. A bit later, we both decided we wanted water. it took 10 minutes to find waitress to get some… except then she never came back with the water. In fact, she never even came back to check on us at all, so kind of hard to remind her. We’d considered ordering an appetizer but after being ignored and not getting what we wanted, we decided to cut our losses and leave. Easier said than done though… Eventually had to walk up to someone at the bar to get our bill since no one would come over or look at us. Wouldn’t have seemed so bad if staff didn’t seem to be paying attention to everyone but us. Seems to be an older crowd(like, late 50s+), so maybe this will be your place if you look old and moneyed. Anyway, TL;DR wouldn’t go back.

Stopped over for a quick pre dinner drink. Had delicious glass of wine and perfectly sized and wonderfully tasting hummus plate. I loved all the dogs here. They are all well behaved and won’t mess with you unless you reach out to pet which of course I did. Had a great waitress too!!! I will def swing back through when I can.

This is a place of classic Carmel charm for both locals and visitors. The Lounge is replete with posters of Doris, old Doris Day movies, and, of course, real dogs in all sizes. The bartenders are craftsmen of their art. The food is delicious, especially the Doris Day chicken salad. Whether you choose indoors or out, there is always something or someone to see.

Bad experience. Witnessed arguments between guests and staff. Then, our waitress seemed to have a chip on her shouder and then charged for soda refills and manager did nothing to correct even though he said sometimes they do an sometimes they don’t charge. Wierd! Luckilly the food was good.

How fantastic that you can bring your dog inside the Cypress Inn and sit with them in the bar/lounge area. The lounge has great atmosphere along with a TV. Service was great even on a busy weekend during the peak tourist season. There is a lounge with live performances and a lovely outdoor patio. I just wish they had a better wine selection that was less focused on wines from the Monterey area, but I appreciate their trying to keep things local.

My husband & I had such a wonderful time at Terry’s Lounge over the weekend. We went there Saturday & Sunday nights. Great drinks & really cool bar menu. Saturday night we were served by a gentleman whose name I cannot recall.(Had an English accent). He was such a nice guy & a pleasant conversationalist. Sunday Jon was our guy & he was great! Can’t wait to go back.

For our wedding anniversary we returned to Terry’s Lounge, which is located within Doris Day’s Cypress Inn. We walked in and were greeted with no less than a dozen dogs of various sizes in the dining area. My hubby was ready to run. We love OUR dogs, but don’t want to endure other people’s pets wile dining. Thankfully, we were led into the lounge, a pet free area. Last year we were so blown away by the great short ribs, that we decided to come back. We were spoiled by our server David on our previous visit. He told us about the special classic cocktails, we happened to be visiting during happy hour, and had a great visit. This year, our food was even better than before. However with only one other table of two, our waitress never came over, didn’t chat, never mentioned the happy hour, and basically ignored us. I had planned on ordering one of the specialty drinks, but, as she never mentioned it, I forgot about it completely! My loss! Despite her lack of attention, we enjoyed the ambiance, which we felt was very romantic, the wonderful company of one another, and above all, the outrageously succulent and tender short ribs, the star of the evening. Just delicious. We will return next year, looking forward to the scrumptious meal, yet probably calling ahead to be seated n someone else’s section.

If you are in the mood for some free entertainment of the 4 legged kind, this is your place. We had a fun night with a good wine list, beer options, and well paced meal. I chose the sand dabs, prepared perfectly, hubbie had the famous burger, cooked rare, as he loves… super yummy! The best part of the evening was interacting with all the beautiful dogs and their owners who truly love talking about their pets. Carmel loves its doggies, and our beloved Doris Day, come here to enjoy both.

What a charming place! We were looking for a restaurant where we could bring our dog and not have to settle for subpar food. We were seated on the patio which was delightful. Beautiful plants, fireplace, white tablecloths. Our waiter was friendly, patient, and professional. The food was delicious. We ordered appetizers from the bar menu which we enjoyed immensely. Artichokes, short rib sliders, lamb meatballs. Had the Filet mignon which was cooked perfectly. The prices were downright reasonable which is not usually the case in Carmel. And everyone eating on the patio was a dog lover! Old and young, everyone seemed to be chatting with one another and petting each other’s dogs. It was a really enjoyable evening. I highly recommend Terry’s!

Love this lounge! We came in after walking downtown Carmel and spotting all of the wonderful dogs. I have a love for all things Doris Day, so the décor with all her movie posters, the charm of the hotel, and the 4 legged friends running around was really so fun to hang out in. We had a great time at the bar, eating sweet potato fries and drinking old fashion’s. Jon our bartender took good care of us. Can’t wait to be back, hopefully next time to stay in the hotel.

It can be hard to find the«real» Carmel amidst the glitzy storefronts, luxury vehicles, and designer doggies that run rampant. So we asked our favorite tasting room manager where she goes to kick back with the locals. She said«believe it or not, the bar at Cypress Inn has a great locals scene». We took her advice and bellied up to Terry’s Bar, inside the Cypress Inn, which was filled with festive people and their dogs(apparently, it’s one of the most dog-friendly spots in town). My husband was a little creeped out — everywhere you looked, a dog was looking back at you. They had live music in their living room/lobby area, and one dog took up an entire couch #OnlyInCarmel. Sitting at the bar, I immediately noticed: this is a serious cocktail bar, of the Mad Men variety. Want a real martini in an extra large coupe? Get it here. Want a hot toddy with top shelf booze and housemade whipped cream? Get it here. Want to hear firsthand stories about Frank Sinatra’s shenanigans? Hear them here. This is the place to make some real Carmel memories. And, I just love being surrounded by cute old folks vs. hipsters for once. Important: they are rumored to have the best burger in town. We were strongly advised to split. Next time!

Great service and dog-friendly bar in the Cypress Inn. The bar menu is served all day and has well-priced items like brussel sprouts skewers with onions and bacon and lamb meatballs. The wines by the glass are priced well, especially the Veuve Cliquot at $ 16/glass — very nice! Always full of friendly dogs and people, they have a dog menu for Fido to enjoy, as well.

Terry’s Lounge is located inside the Cypress Inn, they have both indoor and outdoor seating. I would opt for the outdoor seating for a lovely Sunday Brunch! The other diners raved about their eggs benedict, we saw everyone order all kinds of brunch specials and see that they’re pleased. The coffee kept flowing, people chattering and smiles all around. They have a live band that plays wonderful music, great outdoor courtyard with fireplace and lounge feel! A Charlie Chaplin mural on the wall behind the band framed by pretty flowers and cactus plants. Most importantly, this place is dog-friendly! We only had a couple of mimosas and the fire-roasted artichokes because we were going to head out somewhere else. But based on that experience alone we know we would love to come back and try the rest of their menu.

This place is just ol’ school classy. Dropped in on a Saturday and was no disappointed. Has a very«old school hollywood» feel to it, as if you had been invited to a directors house back in the 30’s. There was a live jazz duet that catered to the atmosphere splendidly. Great wine selection, and the food was some of the best Ive had in Carmel. Definite recommendation.

My friend and I went here on a Sunday day trip because she had a gift certificate and this adorable place accepts dogs inside the restaurant. With a small chill in the air, we opted to sit inside instead of on the patio(where a jazz or blues band was playing) and were seated at a small table at the base of the stairs. We each ordered cocktails: her, the bacon bloody mary and the whiskey champagne cocktail for me. Both were delicious although it took about 15 minutes to receive them. We opted for lunch-like items as it was nearing noon. I got the turkey club with a side salad which was absolutely huge and exactly as I expected taste-wise. My friend ordered the burger and she appreciated that it came somewhat«build your own» with everything off except the cheese. We each split our meal to share with the other, so we were each able to choose exactly how much tomato, lettuce, carmelized onion and bacon aioli we wanted to add. The burger was also huge, but with a reasonably sized side of garlic fries. Service was overall quick and attentive, the location is within walking distance of the main drag. I wouldn’t go here if you don’t like dogs; you should expect to make a couple new well-behaved friends! I will definitely be back when I am in the area!

I absolutely loved this restaurant. It’s located inside Doris Day’s «Cypress Inn» which is her pet friendly hotel. My mom was super bummed about us not staying here on this particular visit to Carmel so she at least wanted to try the restaurant. If you walk inside the lobby, there are two glass double doors which lead out to the restaurant seating area. A huge perk is that they let people who aren’t staying at the Cypress Inn dine here as well — this really impressed me. We were seated in a pleasant looking courtyard area and our table was right next to a heated lamp(much needed since it was quite chilly). Our waiter was also very nice and laid back and brought us our menus right away. I wanted something kind of light, so I went with the Cypress Burger. It was a typical burger meal that came with the usual — fries. Actually, you could select from sweet potato or regular. I went with regular. My burger was served with just the cheese melted on the patty and all of the other trimmings on the side. I love it when restaurants do this because it allows me to assemble my burger myself and I usually just like cheese, lettuce, and ketchup(basic, I know). The quality of the meat was great! It was cooked perfectly(I like my burgers well done) and still juicy. The patty wasn’t too thick or dense and I was actually able to taste the flavors of the beef. The cheese on top was melted into the top part of the patty which made it extra delicious. The fries were nice and crispy right up until the very end. No one likes eating a burger with crispy fries only to have them turn soggy half way through! Overall, the meal was excellent and I loved the ambiance of the hotel and restaurant. Our waiter was on the ball and very friendly towards us and our pooch. We will definitely consider coming back here again or even staying at the Cypress Inn on our next visit.
