Call ahead! Unilocal says Chock Rock was open on Thursday, but currently they are open only Friday-Sunday. We’ve enjoyed them in the past, so we were sorry to miss them last week. Until next time. ..

Had such a good time here swapping stories and sipping wine. Rob(if I got your name wrong, message me and I’ll change it) was a wealth of info for a young man. Very people forward and well versed in gab. Nice. The tasting room is just that, a tasting room. Not so big that you get lost and just large enough to keep you engaged. The wine… good enough for anybody. Last words… relaxed.

Excellent voignier and pinot blanc. The reds are good too. Nothing on the list made me frown. In fact, I loved their wines so much I asked about their club membership and joined. Also, no hard sell here, and the owner, Kathy, is super personable. I like supporting small businesses!

I thought that the tasting room experience was great and better yet, the wines were outstanding. They make Pinots(regular and reserve), which I liked very much, and a Chardonnay, which I think is a new varietal for them. I enjoy visiting small wine makers and I ended up buying one bottle of each. After reading the first review, I should mention that besides the four of us, there was only one other couple in the small tasting room. And that our server was very attentive, helpful and friendly. The tasting room can be easy to miss since it is not on Carmel Valley Road. But check it out and their wines.

You’re not going to find anyone in Monterey County who can match Dan Karlsen’s depth of knowledge when it comes to viticulture and winemaking. If you’re lucky enough to catch him at the tasting room, soak it up. Very good Pinot and Chardonnay. I’m looking forward to their dry Riesling and Pinot Blanc.

Four of us tried wines here after eating lunch at Café Rustica. The little house was crowded and the server we had didn’t want to be there. We tried four of their wines. One was OK but the other were harsh, a lot of tannins and really were not very good. Never really made a connection with the server-see above-but the wines really didn’t do anything for us.
