I visited Figge Cellars with a bachelorette party of 9 ladies and 1 guy. We didn’t make an appointment and were already one winery in, so I really appreciate that the woman working here was so accommodating and patient with all of us. She put up with all of the silliness and even seemed to enjoy our enthusiasm. As for the wines, I appreciated that you could select to do a flight of 3 or 5. I sampled 3 and really enjoyed the pinot. Side note, the breadsticks are really good. Usually wine tasting breadsticks are so bland, but these are so buttery and delicious and made by the restaurant across the street. I loved that the décor with guitars and vintage rock band pictures. Not sure if it changes but when were there the photos were mostly of the Rolling Stones. It’s always great to visit a winery that breaks away from the traditional tasting room look and has a distinct personality.

Our favorite tasting from our day. Got to chat with the wine maker Peter, obviously he loves his work and is quite proud of his craft. Interesting to taste the Pinots and chardonney wines from two different grape regions in Monterey County. Really illustrated how the«same wines» are very different depending on soil, climate etc. A must stop.

Enjoyed a flight of single vineyard Monterey County wines. Awesome gallery to walk around while tasting. This is a hot spot for town for sure.

My dad regularly follows Figge Cellars on Facebook and he oftentimes gets some of the wines in his Taste of Monterey shipments, so he wanted to visit the tasting room itself while we were in town. Figge Cellars offers two types of tastings. There’s a 3 for $ 5 or 5 for $ 10 tasting. The tasting room itself was actually a bit crowded when we arrived sometime after the lunch hour, but the person pouring was attentive, efficient, and knowledgeable. While we didn’t buy any of the wines, seeing as we already get them from Taste of Monterey, my dad was happy with sampling the different wines they offered. They also serve bread sticks here, which pair nicely with the wines.

Really awesome little tasting room. Inside an art gallery, so it’s really easy to miss if you’re not looking for it(you should be). Someone working in another tasting room directed us there and said its a hidden gem, and they were right! Our pourer was Sean, and besides being pretty to look at, he really knew the wine! He was friendly and informative, teaching us about regional wines and the owner and winemaker without making us feel stupid. Our favorites were the two Carmel Valley wines, which were a little more sour than the sweeter salinas wines. My girlfriends and I were so impressed, we left with a case! The tasting was 10 dollars to try all 5 wines(small pours, only gripe), and a case was only 240 dollars, and he let us mix and match wines! Great wine, great service, great prices, just wish it was in a bigger location!

A few of my girfriends and I went to some of the tasting rooms yesterday and we all agree, this was our favorite. The wine was delicious, as were the free samples of bread. ;) Our host was Shawn and he was excellent. He made nice casual conversation with us and really knew the wine. He was super nice and made us feel comfortable and welcome. Plus the art gallery in the back was really interesting and had cool displays. Would definitely reccommend.

A great little tasting room. We had been twice before on wine walks, the first time Peter was there, this time he was took and as soon as he saw us he got excited to see us and greeted us like old friends. Good wine, good owner, good location. And he is also willing to help you find a place to eat and how to get to his competition, gotta love Carmel.

My friends and I recently stopped here during along the Carmel Wine Walk tour. I have to say that the experience and wine were among our favorite. I was particularly compelled to write a review on Unilocal because of the service, which was OUTSTANDING. Kameron was pouring that afternoon, and he was very knowledgable/passionate about the product and very friendly, which made for a fun and educational experience for our large group. He was very accommodating. In fact, he was about to close shop but stayed open longer to serve us all which we really appreciated. Because of this, I have been recommending the tasting room to as many people as I can since! The wines were very delicious, unique and varied. This is a great place to visit to see what the region has to offer. Im a big fan of Pinots and I really enjoyed the offerings here. Thanks again to Kameron and Figge for a fun and delicious experience. We will definitely return next time.

Figge had a hurdle to overcome in my mind(I’ll get to that in a bit), but I took Kameron’s(he made it clear it started with a «K» as I teased him) suggestion from another wine meeting with the guy and got in there on a Saturday or a Sunday. I was accompanied by someone by accident who just so happens to be one of the most discerning wine drinkers in the area, and he and I were impressed by the offerings of the label; this gentleman was also promised soemthign spectacular by Kameron having met him at another wine event. Now, I had previously had Figge’s Pinot pegged as the number three Pinot in my mind, in the region, behind Dan Tudor’s 2007 Pinot and the offerings from Lynn Sakasagawa’s Carmel Road/Carmel Hill’s. But now, thanks to a great brand representative(Kameron), the top spot is up for grabs. I tried a 5 wine flight, and while the tastes were a bit smaller than I usually expect, they were generous for the paltry sum they charge for five tastings. BY the way, those Pinots I mentioned are award winners at the Chronicle(think 93, 94 points etc.), so it’s not easy company to keep up with. Out of happenstance, I noticed that Kameron was hanging out with Samantha from Caraccioli Cellars-a great choice for him, besides being very pretty, she is freakishly well informed about wine and loves her label(see my other review for Caraccioli). Maybe Samantha had some influence on Kameron’s brand ambassador relationship; because I also felt he was incredibly passionate about the Figge offerings, like Samantha is about Caraccioli. In fact, if I were Figge, I’d be looking to give this guy a raise. He takes the wine so seriously, but he isn’t overpowering, and doesn’t try to shape your views on what the juice tastes like. He is seriously informed about Figge(the man behind the label) and about the grapes, the regions and the methods. It’s quite impressive to find a non-family member in such a small case producer being so knowledgeable and so passionate about the offerings. Definitely, for those looking to try something a bit more off the beaten path, Figge is a great choice. The tasting room is simple but not unimpressive, attached to a great gallery of art and in a central, yet quiet, spot. This is all good, because Kameron, when he gets into Figge wine tasting mode, talks with a reverence and lowers his voice to denote it. I can appreciate the intensity of his love of Figge, and he certainly taught me a thing or two about the brand. Figge Cellars tasting room is a no brainer, it’s inexpensive, well placed, and well-staffed; not to mention, the wine is very good too. Get in there.

Alan was a great host! He was friendly and kept us entertained while we tasted our wines. The place also has a great selection of tasting wines. The two pinot’s, one from santa lucia highlands and the other from carmel, were both wonderful wines. The chardonnay from carmel was a very enjoyable one, and the syrah was great too. My favorite of the four probably being the santa lucia highlands pinot, wherase my date enjoyed the other carmel pinot more. Tastings are 3 for $ 5 or all 5 for $ 10. There’s a little art gallery in the back as well. It’s a very quaint little place and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here!
